The updated graphics are obviously nice, but I'm much more interested in the balance changes. I've only ever played TW3 on PS4, so I never had the option of modding it.

I had a demo disc for my PS1 back in the day that had an Armored Core demo. I played it religiously, even though it was just two pretty standard, limited levels. I could also never beat the second level... though I kept playing it with different mech combinations. I liked using the tank track legs, with the guns-for-arms setup. It was a rolling death machine (that was probably an absolutely terrible setup based on stats, but 7-year-old me wasn't paying attention to that lol).

There was so many different styles and setups, you had to really try if you wanted to put together a bad one. I've seen people that could beat later stages with starter gear, but they had more skill than I. I tended to use the spider legs with their decent carry weight and high mobility, lots of lasers/energy weapons for cheap ammunition to save on costs, and as much heavy armor I could fit to give myself a buffer for being a sloppy player.

I'm disappointed that they didn't take the opportunity to make "auto apply oil" a vanilla feature. It's a well recieved mod that just auto applies oil in your inventory of a matching type when you begin fighting something.

In the mid-game on, oils are cheap, plentiful, and do non-trivial levels of extra damage. Still, no one uses them in vanilla because the act of pausing the game and equipping them on your sword every 50 seconds is beyond tedious. This mod not only fixes that tedium, but also makes upgrading an oil feel like a genuine accomplishment that made you get stronger.

Been running a mix of OW2/LoL/Val recently, looking for a game that gives the same dopamine hits like Escape from Tarkov and Rust do? Is there any games I'm missing where I can be insulted and then turn around and ruin their progress? Thinking of picking up DayZ but it just looks like survival PUBG.

I mostly played Rust back in 2014 when it was Early Access. All I remember was hiding from other players trying to raid bases, but the first night I was in a little shack and freezing. I was trying not to use a campfire so I wouldn't be found...didn't work. Some Russian guy located me and starting axing my front door while he yelled in his thick Russian accent, "OPEN ZE DOOR! LEYT ME IN NAO!" Over and over for like 5 minutes until he broke in. I had like...a wooden club and that was it, he made short work of me. Later versions of the game just weren't quite as intense.

Have you tried Ark?

100% on God of War: Ragnarok. Great story and a good amount of epilogue as well. Time to find something new.

Tonight my older two will be the recipients of a new Nintendo Switch and we're getting the new Sonic game and BOTW. I can't wait to start that journey with them. I've played 10 minutes of BOTW when I borrowed my brothers Switch

You can just beeline for Raya Lucaria.
I ended up beating Radagon and the Beast with a faith build using the blasphemous blade, holy damage negation incantation and talismans, and the aggro talisman slotted on my mimic. 🧀 it worked.

I cheesed a lot of the bosses the first time around but it was my first time playing souls game at all.

Don’t know what kind of build I want to do this time around? Any suggestions? I saw a moonveil magic build that looks fun. I see a lot of people playing blood loss builds. Also considering strength arcane build for some dragon communion skills. I’m around a level 200+ so I got points to bump up lots of different attributes. Strength, dexterity, arcane, intelligence…

Moonveil is great, but it’d be similar to your last build with Sorceries / INT instead of Incantations/ FTH. I did straight Unga Bunga on my first run and wanted something very different playstyle wise, so I’m doing pure Sorceries/ INT now (no melee.)

If that doesnt appeal to you, the other main archetypes are Unga Bunga or Bleed/ DEX/ ARC. Let me know what you want and I’ll give you more details.

No spoilers really, but some early tips for BotW:

BotW is an exercise in hoarding weapons and knowing which ones to keep or throw away at times. Try to get to 13 hearts early so you can pull the Master Sword. If you need cash, bowling is where it's at. Get familiar with interesting looking spots/rock formations, there's usually Korok Seeds hiding there and a small puzzle that will allow you to expand the number of weapons/shields/bows you can carry. Do the Zora dungeon first, it can save your ass. Cook lots of food, and don't neglect the Fairy fountains.

The same one the Rasputins have been playing every Christmas break for over two decades. Dust off the SNES, plug in SuperMarioWorld, and sit it in the game room until every single level, hidden, secret and otherwise, is completed. A Christmas tradition like no other.

When I worked on a college campus, my Christmas break tradition was to binge-watch both 'Justified' and 'Entourage' while playing an NCAA14 dynasty and seeing how many years I could get through prior to going back to work.

Alas, changing industries means no more holiday break... I'm sitting at work the day after Christmas, doing anything I can to procrastinate. No floating holidays here 😞

Steam's Winter Sale is going on right now for those that are interested. Lasts until January 5th. I picked up Rebel Galaxy for $1.99, it's been collecting dust on my Wishlist for about 6 years so I figured at that price it was a good excuse to scratch it off. Lots of deep discounts going on.

I might finally pull the trigger on Tales of Arise, but there's a bunch of space games on sale that have been on the list awhile and I might finally pull some of them down: RimWorld, Satisfactory, The Planet Crafter, Outer Wilds, Space Engineers, Pulsar: Lost Colony, Stellaris, Avorion, Interstellar Rift, apparently I've got a lot of space items. If anyone has played any of those and wants to sell me, tell me why I should get any of them. It's an eclectic list, I know, and there's more I didn't include  My total wishlist is about 122 deep now.

I played Elite Dangerous in the past, didn't care for it. Empyrion was good, so was Evochron Legacy. No Man's Sky is alright. Starpoint Gemini 2 and Starpoint Gemini Warlords were fun. I played the shit out of a lot of the Star Wars flight games growing up like TIE Fighter, X-Wing Alliance, Rogue Squadron, etc. I have some of the X3 games, but haven't really dabbled with them yet.
