oblivion and Skyrim were both so similar I tend to bleed them together in my mind. If anything the graphics is the decider for me,… plus getting to kill that traitor Stormcloak is bigly points for Skyrim.

Yep. I joined the Roman Empire, I mean the Imperials. I also joined the Companions and am now a Thane.

I was also given a woman, Lydia.

Good times.

I picked Redguard. Supposedly the best fighters.
The game puts way too much emphasis on racial Skill Bonuses when talking about who's "best" at a given class. Skill trainers are easy to find, so starting with +5 or +10 in a certain Skill isn't very meaningful.

Special abilities are though, especially early on. Orcs actually make the best fighters because Berserker Rage >>> Adrenaline Rush.

I've spent about two hours watching my kid play some samurai game on his PS5.
Bourbon and Percocet makes everything tolerable.

Filthy Imperial scum need to go back to Cyrodil and stay out of Skyrim. If they wouldn't have gotten into bed with the Thalmor then Skyrim would still be free. Talos is one of the Nine Divines and will remain as such. The Thalmor claim they ended the Oblivion crisis, but that's elven propaganda! Martin Septim sealed the Oblivion gates when he invoked the avatar of Akatosh.

Also, Lydia is easy, everyone's had her. Aela or Mjoll are where it's at...although my favorite companion is still Karliah. You can't get her normally as a companion, but with mods she's available. She's got a unique voice from most companions, voiced by Moira Quirk. That's one thing that gets me about Elder Scrolls games, it feels like they use the same 2-3 voice actors for 98% of the NPCs in the world so everybody sounds like 25 other characters.

theres a game called Kingdom Come Deliverance and it suffers from the same problems. They hired 2/3 proper actors then the developers themselves portray practically all the NPC's where maybe there are 5/6 variants. It breaks immersion so easily

So, I couldn't resist and I did end up firing up Wasteland 3 a few weeks ago. Ended up putting 100+ hours into it with DLC and everything. Some of that may have been me walking away for dinner, but you definitely get your money's worth. Base game is $12 on sale right now.

The game is definitely very similar to Wasteland 2, but with a different region as you're trading Arizona for snowy Colorado. There's some new features like vehicle combat, and some NPCs have close ups when you have dialogue with them (Reminiscent of Fallout 1 and 2), but otherwise not much else is different from Wasteland 2. There is a Multiplayer feature, but I haven't messed with it yet. There's more factions involved, and so there's more options in how to do quests I think and what endings you get. Combat is still fun, very similar to Fallout 2 or Fallout Tactics with Squad Turn based combat. I felt like there were more Easter eggs and pop culture references compared to the previous game, I always enjoy those when you find them. For instance there was a Super Nintendo Super Scope weapon you could pickup, a Nintendo Virtual Boy helmet, a line from the movie "The Warriors" came up, tons of Reagan and Communist references (There's a whole faction called the Gippers!), that sort of stuff.

Weighing the good and the bad, I thought the combat, story, and characters were all very good. There were just tons of choices for dialogue and options for quests, really well done. I thought the music wasn't great, wasn't awful, in particular they had some weird choices in the DLCs...like at one point the theme from Gilligan's Island came on, but it was a weird cover that they slow played like a dirge? Really weird. There was also some covers of other songs, like Everybody Have Fun Tonight, Battle Hymn of the Republic, and Land of Confusion. One of them played during a particular battle and it was on a loop, and unfortunately it wasn't a short battle so it got rather repetitive. So yeah, music was kind of a "meh" for me. The DLCs were good, but the Cheyenne Mountain one in particular got...a little annoying. They had numerous fights where enemies would spawn out of these hatches, so you would kill some guys only to have anywhere from 2-8 more spawn at the end of the turn. It did provide some extra difficulty late in the game, but it also led to some really, really long battles. One particular encounter took me nearly an hour to finish because you had to make your way through 3 large rooms killing these enemies that kept respawning and the only way to make them quit was get to the objective at the end to purge the hatches spawning enemies. I was able to best it on the first try, but like mentioned...a few of these encounters ended up really dragging on. On the plus side it led to some killer weapons and armor, so the rewards were worth it. So yeah, only really downsides for me were music to some degree and a few DLC fights dragged.

If anyone has played the original Fallout games, or if you enjoyed Wasteland or Wasteland 2, I think this would be a good pickup. Fun turn based combat, good story and characters, lots of replayability if you want to go back and make different choices to see other endings.

Graphics: B- (Nothing special, but visually appealing)
Story/Characters: A (Engaging, lots of quests and options, plenty of interesting people and factions)
Gameplay: B+ (Combat is fun, a few fights in the DLCs drag a bit though)
Music: C (Wasn't awful, wasn't great, I mostly just didn't care for the covers)
Replay: A- (Could easily play this through a few times to see other endings)
Entertainment: B+/A- (Really enjoyed the ride, I hit every location I could find and searched every cranny)

I didn't see this video till now, but it's worth watching for a laugh.

Dude, imagine if we had a dedicated IE Rust server? There are not many games like Rust.

I forgot to mention this during my last reply, but I still play the everloving shit out of 7 Days to Die. It's a survival game like Rust, but I feel like the building mechanics are far better in addition to the looting and character progression. Granted, I haven't played a ton of Rust lately, but based on my last playthrough I've enjoyed 7D2D a lot more. I've got 1000+ hours into that one, not to mention probably another 400-500 hours into the PS4 version (Which is admittedly not nearly as good...they had a licensing issue as Telltale games did the console port, they went out of business, and because of the legal ramifications it took forever for the developers to get the rights back). Really fun though, I think it's still my favorite Survival title. Every 7 days in game you'll get a massive horde of zombies attack your base at night and you have to wipe them out with your buddies (Or solo possibly if you're on a PVP server). I rarely do the PVP though, depending on the server settings I'm usually too busy trying not to die to the NPCs.

Speaking of Rust I’m
Tempted to grab Arma Reforger but the reviews are so mixed. Loved Operation Flashpoint series back in the day

I was just looking at my Wishlist and I've actually had that one on there since 8/16/2017, which was about 6 months before it was actually released  The reviews still say Very Positive for it though. Other than the voice acting is there any reason not to get it, or should I toss it from the Wishlist?

I fired up COD BO2...tried Multiplayer. No one was on the server. Perhaps the server is disabled. I loved Nuketown. I gather it is a 9 year old game so what do I expect. LOL.

I used to love Sim games like Railroad Tycoon and Civilization...... not sure why they didn't update Railroad Tycoon recently. Prior updates sucked.

What is the best Dungeons and Dragons type game?

Trying to finish Pokemon Red over the next two or three nights. Just got done with Silph Co. in Saffron and beat the gym there.

My team currently:

Lapras (31)
Rhyhorn (31)
Scyther (32)
Chansey (32)
Electabuzz (34)
Charizard (39)

Based on being done with both Rocket Game Corner and Silph Co., starting to get concerned that I'm going to be at/through the Elite Four without a chance to evolve my Rhyhorn. Part of that was my Charmander absorbing way more XP from the team than I normally would, so I could get him to lvl 38 for Flamethrower prior to evolving.

It's been fun using a team where 4/6 are mons that you can't really get early on in the gen 1 games.

Scyther is an absolute menace with its SPD and ATK stats using Slash, combined with Double-Team to start every battle. Electabuzz is the same way... every other hit is a critical hit when using Thunderbolt.

Anyone play subnautica or firewatch? I like games w/ great stories and have heard good things about both.

Cyberpunk and Deathloop have been my most played this year, I thought Deathloop would scratch the Dishonored itch I have been missing, and its awesome but still like the Dishonored Series way more. Might check out Prey (which is by the same developer) never tried the Assassins Creed games maybe I should?

Also been looking for something to compare to the Mass Effect series as well, and a stealth game ala metal gear if anyone has any suggestions please let me know, I mainly play on PC now, but have a (dusty) ps2, a ps3, ps4 and xbox 360 sitting around.

lastly, I downloaded a game on a whim over the weekend, Roller Drome, a game set in a dystopian future where you are a participant in a game similar to the one in James Caan's RollerBall movie. it was a ton of fun.

Firewatch is a really neat little game. Cool story, beautiful atmosphere, and fun. It's just so short, and left me feeling empty.

There look to be a number of knockoff Railroad games on Steam. I used to play some of the original Railroad Tycoon games too, they were fun for a bit. You may want to try one of those knockoffs. "Railroads Online" looks like it was just released last year and it has Very Positive recent reviews. I knew nothing about it till now, it's still Early Access, but honestly based on the trailer it looks beautiful and could be a relaxing play:

Railroad Corporation looks a lot like a true Railroad Tycoon copy, it's only $8.74 right now on sale and it's only a few years old, has decent recent reviews. There's also Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022 which seems to be a growing IP, looks very involved but it's also more expensive. Good reviews on that one too.
Been humbling my children at Mario Kart on the switch. About to introduce to the original rainbow road on the SNES

I have not played Subnautica yet, but it's another that's been collecting dust in the Steam wishlist, I'm also interested. Cyberpunk was another that I had been looking forward to, had it high in my list, but after the messy release I dropped it down. I will probably wait till I upgrade my rig in the next year or two before I pull the trigger. Video card prices have been dropping, I want to get one of the current Ryzen processors but wait until they're a few years old so they're dirt cheap.

i got Railway Empire for free off Epic Games store before hoping for some Tycoon nostalgia but the game was finnicky AF and the track building was a total pain sadly
