EU4 is a bit broken again from yet another DLC. It's been out for 1 week and there have been like 3 hot fixes to eliminate game-breaking bugs. Oh and then they just decided to remove some mechanics that've been around since the beginning because they couldn't figure out how to fix them. Smh Paradox really dropped the ball on this.

Crusader Kings is good. I enjoy trying to find proper matches for my kids.

EU4 and HOI4 are better.

For a split second I forgot what game you were talking about and thought that you 1) had children, 2) they were old enough to play matches in online strategy games. My mind was blown.

100%'d Hades. Roughly 200 attempts, 150 successful escapes (the 32 heat clear was tough). Easily the best Rogue-like I've ever played, and a top-3 game for me. Still not tired of it. Only stopped playing because there was nothing else to buy/accomplish.

Bought Streets of Rage 4. Best beat-em-up I've ever played before. Strongly recommended if you enjoy the genre.

I play the total war games just not the two most recent games. The mods people out out for the older games help a lot with them not getting stale.

i saw the remaster of Rome wasn't great. I have been playing Troy lately as it was free on Epic Games store for a bit. I still play Medieval 2 and Empire now and then

Lolololol I suppose that is possible. But if I have children, they are taking some trait hits because they are an illegitimate bastard and their mother cannot be very intelligent.

10/10 would NOT play online with them. They'd be a liability.

Just got to Dathomir on Jedi: Fallen Order.

I *know* there’s nothing truly creepy or scary about this game and/or particular level. Maybe slightly eerie, if anything, just based on the rest of the game being so different from this level.

But even so! I’m downstairs in my man cave hitting pause and listening for every creek in the house just based on the ambiance. Night Brothers just jumping out from corners and shit.

I couldn’t play a legit horror game lol.

I have not, though I briefly considered buying the collection on Nintendo Switch, though the reviews on the quality of the port seemed mixed from what I saw.

I picked this one up last October for $20. Still in Beta I think, but it's pretty fun to play in a dark room with friends, even if you don't have VR. I'm too much of a pansy to play solo though lol

Seconded that everyone should play Bioshock. It's spooky but not scary and is one of the greats.

Late but congrats. 100%ing a Rougelike is always an achievement

So I have finally tried Hollow Knight,... what a tedious, repetitive and frustrating game,.... geez, people have fun with this mess?? I want to give it more time but like 75% of your time playing is going back to get your soul,... rinse/repeat.

Other games I’m on right now;
mlb the show
nhl
bloodstained curse of the moon 2
and ghoul boy

ghoul boy is another tedious game but CotM2 is where it’s at for my tastes. Love this series

Git good. I agree it’s frustrating but disagree quite a bit with your other critiques. I suggest experimenting more with your charm load out.

Idk, ’Git good’ in this game seems to mean just getting your ass kicked in an area,... grinding all the way back, learning the repetitive patterns of the enemies you’re struggling with,... finally getting to the next area and doing it all over again from scratch... at least thus far. It wouldn’t be so bad if you had more life or didn’t get kicked back to the beginning every time you died. Anyhow, that’s certainly the case in the first hour plus or so. I only have a few charms right now so,... maybe it just needs more time? Honestly though I haven’t had less fun trying to get in with a game like this since, ever?? I’m only continuing at all at this point bc all the hype this game got. I’m just waiting for the fun to become a thing and, just ugh,... starting to wish I had gone with shovel knight instead.

Oh also went on a ‘never beat these but now is the time’ phase last week. Finally beat Ninja Gaiden NES and the OG Ninja Turtles NES... gonna take on CV 3 soon too. Yes I know those games are also frustrating as hell but I always enjoyed NG and CV... turtles was more of a ‘let’s put this turd behind me’ moment

I think you might be playing too aggressively, or are beating your head against an area that's not meant for you to be in and the game is trying to tell you that. I'm not a "gud" gamer and I didn't die more than one or two times in any given area until near the end game when the combat opens up like crazy and the game's difficulty grows to match.

You're saying this exclusive of boss fights, I presume. Those m'fers can be hard (Soul Master gives me nightmares). But great point on being in the wrong area.

Early game can be quite difficult because of 1) charm and soul limitations and 2) getting used to the combat and difficulty curve. In my first playthrough I was stuck on Hornet 1 for hours. Mid- to late-game is so fun because you can get really creative with how you approach combat and you can also avoid difficult encounters if you choose to. I think the game really begins to click around Mantis Lords.

Hollow Knight puts a premium on exploration, so it doesn't hard-gate late game areas like some other Metroidvanias. It's not that hard to end up in Fungal Wastes, Fog Canyon or Deep Nest long before you have the tools necessary to navigate them successfully.

Here's the recommended early game progression path (spoilers). Once you get the Mantis Claw, the map really opens up, and you can take a bunch of different paths after that.

Okay, I can’t even get past the mini boss in green path. This is the hardest and least enjoyable metriodvania I’ve ever attempted and I have to disagree with whiskey that it doesn’t block off four out of every five paths, at least where I’m at now. I’ve tried tutorial vids, they all show double jumps, flying, shooting projectiles and I’m like I can’t even get past the second fucking stage!!! Oh well, I’ve tried, hollow knight just isn’t my game. I want a game that you can get into to that explains things and that isn’t so. fuckin. grindy and overly difficult from the word go,... I haven’t enjoyed a second of the few hours playing it. Just not for me. Back to the other stuff...

I actually had a harder time with Watcher Knight because I went there before getting the dash (or whatever it's called), and couldn't get their timing down. Hornet I one-shot (#progamermoves). Mantis Lords are one of the best boss fights ever.

The big moss charger?

It was the big bug with the shield,... I only tried 3 times but he blocked everything I tried,... I’m done lol. Like I said it’s just not for me I guess. About to pop in the show

The one with the shield that spits the rollers out at you? If so, you need a projectile attack that you likely don't have.

I'm with you. Hollow Knight was okay, but it was a bit over hyped. The Bloodstained Symphony of the Night copy was more fun and it has a plethora of different weapons to play with, not just one. Hollow Knight does allow for some different builds, some of which are kinda interesting, but ACamp has a point. Sometimes the Charms are few and far between and the game relies too much on perfection and punishing you with constant restarts. Some boss fights like Grimm were ridiculous, I know it took me at least an hour to beat him. I probably wouldn't have bothered, but I had to get all the Charms.

I do think the game gets better as you get deeper and get access to the stronger swords and Charms...although it's a lot of farming in the arena to afford them which is more tedious grinding. Now that I think about it I had to spend a lot of time farming cash in the arena...that got old.
