As a new-ish father to a toddler and a 6-month old, games with storylines revolving around children are far more emotionally impactful than they used to be. It's nice, but it also sucks lol.

In 'AC: Origins,' the main character had a son that died very young. You play missions where your character revisits bonding time that he shared with his son, viewing constellations in the night sky as you hear voiceovers of the conversations they had. Made me super emo, especially when you get to the final remembrance mission, which symbolizes your character finding peace with his son's absence. Devastated me.

In 'AC: Odyssey,' you're put in a situation where a child you care for is in grave danger... I was playing at lunch, but had to pause the game to head back to work before I could find out what happened. I am now stressed and paranoid about what's going to happen when I play again tonight or tomorrow at lunch.

Kids change everything about life, man.

Get hype, son:

Hope you picked up the Complete Edition. That awesome trailer is related to events in Blood & Wine.

Other posts from earlier in the thread that might be helpful to you: (1) this one has a lot of build advice, but also goes into detail on decoctions, potions, enchantments, glyphs and runes; and (2) this one is a short guide on how to dominate Gwent.

So far it's a naked dude in a tub with some sort of serpent swimming between his legs.

10/10 so far, sweet recommendation guys.

TW3 has an absolutely lethal left hook, but his release time is days. Really opens himself up for some shots, interested to see what he's like in close quarters combat.

Koon is live-posting his first playthrough TWIII, and you guys are too busy getting moist over a kids' movie. Gonna have to move this to the movie thread shortly.

I couldn't chime in at the time, but the recent discussion of "Witcher players who start with TW3 aren't missing much story-wise" is mostly true, but for one thing. People who play TW3 without reading the books or playing the other games might think to themselves "Oh Triss and Geralt should end up together because I like redheads/don't like Yennifer." Geralt and Yennifer are pretty much the definition of fated for each other if you know all the backstory.

I started the convo with video-game related content. Wiz shifted to films in trying to push my emotional buttons.

It's looking extremely likely that at 5 PM today the Master Chief Collection will get announced (released?) on PC. Halo 2/3 played with a mouse and keyboard. Dear lord.

I'd be curious too, I saved this for super late because I didn't want to ruin my honor, ruined it anyway and then just took time to build it back up.

I did them last for the same reason. Unfortunately, there's no way to avoid the dishonor of committing the crimes themselves required by the Bandit Challenges. The only way I found to minimize the loss is to do it without accruing a bounty, so you don't have to shoot your way out of town (because killing lawmen further dings your honor). Here's how I accomplished each:

1 - Hold up people in Van Horn. There's no law in town, so it's easy to avoid a bounty, and many of the people won't even try to pull on you.
2 - Just ride around Emerald Ranch until you find a coach, hijack it, and drive it to the Fence x 2.
3 - This one is challenging. Start in Valentine in the morning, but avoid the gunsmith because he always tries to pull on you, which brings the law down on you faster. Start by robbing the doctor's office and then immediately go rob the general store. If you're fast (mask, pull, threaten, grab cash, and run) at both locations, you can get out of town without a bounty. Then you ride to Wallace Station and Strawberry and do the same thing.
4 - Easy. Same process as #2 above.
5 - No good way to do this without tanking your honor (at least not that I found). Getting in a shootout with lawmen in a town is the fastest way to hit $250.
6 - Also easy. Ride around Lemoyne until you find a solo rider, hijack his horse, ride to the Fence at Clemens Cove x 5.
7 - This one sucks. The vast majority of NPCs don't carry much cash at all. I tried targeting the wealthy in Saint Denis, but it was still painfully slow, and trying to avoid the law made it super slow. In retrospect, the best way to do this is by robbing trains. Make sure you whistle for you horse to follow as the train starts moving, then once you're between towns, rob only one car (preferably in the middle of the train since there are guards at front and back), jump off, mount up, and ride away before they can find you. Each car should net you $10-15.
8 - Easy. See #2 above.
9 - Also easy. Hang around the rail road tracks near Emerald Station. When you find someone (either a townie stepping out for a smoke at night, or a rider coming through town), just lasso them, hogtie them, and drop them on the tracks.
10 - Can be challenging, but if you follow my method from #7 above, you should be able to do this quickly without getting a bounty.

Edit: Disregard the above. Follow this guy's advice. It's mostly the same, but he did a few things better than I managed.

Yeah so I love AC Odyssey.

I didn't realize there would be real-world locations (many that I've been to). The Greek is actually pretty accurate and there's a lot more mythology than I expected. It's also not very difficult and the focus so far seems to be on being an assassin. I also love using the eagle to scout out the locations.

Pretty much a perfect game for me. I just finished all the stuff in the first location (Kephallonia) so looking forward to the plot developing.

I played many hours before I realized that my playstyle was best suited to a specific gear build... probably due to my inexperience with true RPG's.

I learned after many hours that I was best suited to play as a full Assassin, but I had been upgrading and equipping gear from all three skill trees, and my abilities were basically all warrior abilities. I was essentially playing like a 12-year-old kid that had no idea how to strategically build a character.

Just something to keep in mind as you spend your ability points.

It's a pain-in-the-ass if you're trying to be a ghost and take out an entire fort silently after you've progressed quite a bit, only to hit the wall and realize that you haven't buffed your assassin stats enough via gear and ability points to kill the elite/boss.

Koon, how is your Witcher 3 journey coming along? I popped it in for the first time in a full year (really hard to believe, but that's the story of my save dates) yesterday and it's such a great game. Prob going to play through it again...

Picked up Dead Cells recently. Really like that game. Strongly recommended for anyone into platformers.

Played Diablo 3 with my boys for the first time last weekend. TWIII is the GOAT game, but Diablo 3 is the GOAT multiplayer game. There's nothing like a good dungeon crawl with friends, and D3 is the platonic form of the genre. We played it on my beat-up old PS3, but it's clear that we'll be sinking many hours into that game together over the coming months/ years, so I just ordered the Eternal Edition for my PS4 along with 3 more Dualshock 4 controllers. Already looking forward to this Sunday...

I'm really into sims.

DCS World just released the first full fidelity, study level simulation of the F 14.

It's really incredible. I almost quit my job to learn how to fly it properly.

PS: Hot Take: Mighty Wings is a better song than Danger Zone. Watch that clip till the end to agree.
