I need to check out this hero strike perk. I dont remember if i have it. I am just trucking thru busy season right now at work so I can get back to this game. Its so damn good. I might be able to game a couple hours this Saturday night. I will report back. I think the last thing I did was find the Mom. So not sure how far I am in the main story.

I ignored it until about level 40... that's when I reset my ability wheel to better reflect my assassin play style, and also to start building towards using the 'Shadow of Nyx' ability to go along with the Pilgrim armor set.

When I was reading through all of the abilities to see what I should use, I realized that 'Hero Strike' is a melee ability, but it uses the Assassin Damage counter. I also realized that my skills were essentially useless based on the way I was trying to do damage.

I was using:
- Rush Assassination
- Ring of Chaos
- Second Wind
- Sparta Kick

Now I use:
- Rush Assassination
- Shadow of Nyx
- Second Wind
- Hero Strike

'Ring of Chaos' was doing nothing but buying me more time to get pwned by groups of enemies in open combat, which I try to avoid anyway. 'Sparta Kick' is fan-fucking-tastic, and one of the most entertaining abilities in the game... when you catch an elite enemy on a cliff. Otherwise, it's useless for what I was trying to do.

Now I use 'Shadow of Nyx' to infiltrate, kill, and dispose of bodies. I use 'Rush Assassination' to chain-assassinate groups of enemies in rooms or secluded areas. I use 'Hero Strike' to finish off elite enemies after assassination attempts or when I have to meet them in open combat. 'Second Wind' saves me for the times when I get into open combat on accident.

Chaining 5 rush assassinations will be niiiiice.

I thought about going with a combo build just so I could have a bit more fun with open combat, but I found a nice workaround with a full-Assassin build:

Equipped Typhon's Mace, which buffs your assassin skills when you're playing true to the build, but it also buffs heavy-blunt damage. Fully upgraded the overpower attack skill, and can chain up to four double-hits in a row on different enemies. That solves some of my issues when I get into open combat inadvertently. I'm not dealing a lot of damage on single hits, but chaining 2 overpower hits each on 4 different enemies at a time goes a long way towards thinning the crowd.

I also use Hero Strike, which is totally OP if you're using an Assassin build, because it converts your assassin damage to melee damage, and the game gives you wayyyy more assassin damage than melee damage, regardless of loadout and play style... so if you're building and buffing for assassin damage, you're buffing Hero Strike by orders of magnitude. I can basically two-shot any elite enemy in the game.

(1) Use Shadow of Nyx to infiltrate any area without being detected
(2) Sneak up and use a critical assassination on Elite Enemy
(3) Use Hero Strike while they're stumbling and drawing their weapon
(4) That's it, they're dead now, even on nightmare difficulty

I just finished the main quest and the cultists last night, so all primary story lines are done. Now I'm gonna work on clearing the map and getting the Platinum PSN trophy.

Then I'll start with the DLC that's been released to this point.

I tried for the plat trophy but for what ever reason I can get the poisdion trophy. I read up on it and found out a lot of people are having issues with it. But I have every other trophy and almost all of the dlc ones. I never used Sparta kick my load out was rush assassination ring of chaos Second wind and shield breaker. I bought the hades dlc outfit the spear in was outstanding especially with the fire perk

There are one or two underwater locations that you basically have to be on top of before they show on the map... maybe that’s the problem?

I’ll check it out tonight thanks

Dumb suggestion that you’re probably aware of, but you can change the map to show only incomplete location symbols. Do that, then turn the brightness on the game all the way down, and the question mark symbols will show up more easily.

If that didn’t work, it means there’s a location that you didn’t sail past at any point during your play through, so the question mark symbol wasn’t even revealed, or else the symbol you need blends in with other, permanent map symbols. I can think of a few locations that match those descriptions if you’re interested.

So I go to download MGS4 on my PS3 yesterday just for the hell of it bc it’s free. I clear out my entire PS3. Its an OG version so 40 gb which is really only 37gb after OS. I go to download the game in the ps store, it’s 24 gb and it won’t download. That’s when I remember, that’s just the download size and not the install plus operating memory needed. So in that moment I lol’d at the realization that it’s sinply not possible for my Old ass OG PS3 to even run this game with out hooking up and external HD. Technology is amazing sometimes.

It's super easy to upgrade your PS3's hard drive. I wouldn't go over 500 GB of storage though. I tried putting a 1 TB drive in my PS3 several years ago and I ran into all kinds of problems. Could have just been a bad drive, but the 500 GB drive has been plenty and you could get one cheap these days.

My wife got me a Switch for Christmas, I've been playing Breath of the Wild this week. It is absolutely overwhelming.

Other Zelda games I played in my youth were pretty intricate with lots of side quests and exploration outside of the main plot line. With this game, it's so loose I find myself wandering around for hours not even really accomplishing anything. I'm not even sure where to go, and I'm inherently against Googling shit/using guides... but maybe that's a must in 2019? I mean it took me forever to even realize you didn't need a fishing rod to fish and could just bomb those fuckers.

Besides the fact that I am constantly running out of arrows, horrible at combat in this game, never seem to have good weapons (and when I do I break them), and have no idea where to go as my next "step" in the game.... it's a ton of fun.

I bought the Switch specifically for this game. I'm pretty much doing the same things you are doing. I refuse to go online for help because I've been told by multiple people that everything you need to beat the game, you'll have within the first couple hours of playing. This is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite open world games.

I've got another way to catch fish without bombs or fishing poles if you want. Found out by dumb luck.

I found it. I was missing Dorian Caves it’s just south of Lakonia. I used YouTube and a map on google I found to find the one I was missing. I now have all of the trophies that are available except rain of arrows and fire on water. And those two are from the latest dlc.

Is that the cave where you get the Cerberus ship theme?

I downloaded 'The Legacy of the First Blade,' and reset my abilities so I had a point to use on Death Veil. Haven't started into the actual story yet, though. I've been doing some of the free DLC "Lost Tales of Greece" stuff. Just finished up "The Show Must Go On" storyline.

I'll search for the other tales now, probably.

All of the lost tales are the blue highlighted (!). I have them all done including the recent one. I got a epic crew I don’t remember which one. I got the Cerberus one in the bay of lakonia the other one is just past that one at there very bottom tip.

Fishing rod? Bombs? Just swim around and grab them.

Two things to do before you head to the endgame: Free all four divine beasts, and find all twelve lost memories.

Nintendo Direct yesterday just announced a complete remake of Link Awakening. Its looks pretty awesome. Unfortunately, they did not announce SNES games for Switch Online. Thats what I was really hoping for. They also announced Mario Maker 2 for Switch.

anyone keep play RD2 after beating the main story line?

I did. Kept going until I 100%'d it. Was quite a slog, so I wouldn't recommend most try it, but felt compelled to for such a masterpiece of a game.

I was hoping for The Far East like China or Japan but this could be cool

I'm jacked up about that. Give me the narrative style of the Ezio trilogy, but the open-world and progression RPG mechanics of Odyssey. When I hit someone with the hidden blade, I want to have a conversation with them before painting the Eagle's feather in blood.

Also: the NEXT installment, after Rome and the end of the Ancient Trilogy, is supposed to be Eastern Asia, and will only be available on the next gen of consoles. It is supposed to be another "reset" for the series, kind of.

I read that they wanted to wait because they had the Ancient Trilogy planned for a while, and also to separate themselves from the current Samurai/Ninja/East Asia games a little bit.

Pokemon Direct coming from Nintendo tomorrow at 9am ET.

I still can't get a handle on whether I should pick up Let's Go or not. I keep reading that it's not a "proper" Pokemon game, but I can't figure out what that means. If it's just a current-gen version of Yellow, I'd want to play that. But I can't get a real sense of the gameplay differences aside from the catching mechanic.

If you’re looking for a “real” Pokémon game, then wait for whatever they announce tomorrow, if that’s what they’re doing... I’d imagine it is, since the release is usually September or October.

I don't think I'd get into anything beyond Kanto region. 150 is enough for me.
