Get your right thumb off the stick when the fish is flopping around. Use the left stick to control it and start reeling when the fish calms down.

I do this,... at some point I have to hold it in place to stop losing line tho,... this game is too realistic in that fishing is fucking stupid. Lol

I had a tough time getting the legendary Sockeye Salmon to bite in Lake Isabella, but every other legendary fish was basically automatic. If you get to play tonight, let me know what you're fishing for, where you're standing, and what lure you're using. I'll try to figure out what the problem is.

If I continue to have bite problems I’ll do this,... I have al the right stuff though and am casting towards the map icon each time. Today I finally got bites but the fish either kept eating line for minutes at a time or the line broke if I tried to stop it.

Not that I'm aware of. All of the collectibles twinkle when you're in Eagle Eye mode, but it's not practical to keep engaging it everywhere you go, so unless you already know where to look, finding them all naturally would take months. I utilized online resources heavily and it still took me forever to finish everything.
That's a shame, and a flaw in the game design IMO. Collectibles that aren't actually collectible without online guides are a problem, especially when they come with in-game rewards. What's the point of getting a special knife or gun if the only time you'd do the necessary missions is after the main story is complete and you're just grinding for 100%?

I think that's just kind of the way game designers are going with open-world games right now. I wouldn't call it a flaw or a sham, since games have always had collectibles and secrets that you simply need to stumble across.

To me, it's just kind of like how you used to need a strategy guide to find all the weapons and secrets and collectibles; now you use google, wikis and reddit.

There are ways to integrate it into the in-game mechanics though. In Breath of the Wild, you might talk to an NPC at a stable who gives you a hint about where one of your hidden memories is located. In Spider-Man, you unlock a proximity sensor at level 50 that tells you when you're close to a secret photo location. Even within Red Dead, the treasure maps give you a rough idea of where what you're looking for is located. Also within Red Dead, things like Braithwaites' Secret, Giant Remains, Tiny Church, and other points of interest are things you just stumble on but you don't need them for 100%.

The dinosaur bones, dream catchers, and wall carvings are just randomly out in the world on a GIANT map with no guidance whatsoever.

That's Rockstar's thing, though, to give you something to do. Kind of like the hidden packages in the GTA games, or the stunt jumps, or the rampage missions.

The rampage missions are found on the map though, so that's a bad example. I do get Wiz being frustrated finding them, I am. I also know it's part of the exploration Rockstar wants us all to do. I wouldn't mind something like he said is in Spider-Man, sensing something is nearby.

What kind of fuckery is this?!?!

I was looking forward to playing this game someday, but everything about this boggles my mind. What kind of whacked out abilities did they put in this game? I'm not sure I'm going to enjoy this.

I don't understand what's happening...

Is this person using controls on the Switch console, outside of the game, to keep the in-game character suspended on the rock while it travels? Or to keep the rock suspended and moving in a way it's not supposed to?

Clearly the idea is they need to get high enough to glide to the castle... but why wouldn't the castle be climeable like everything else in the game?

I assume you can climb the castle, otherwise how else would you get that chest? This is probably just a quicker way about doing it. I'm still at a loss for words though. The abilities he's using, the stopped time, the bananas....it's like sensory overload.

Just started Horizon Zero Dawn last night.

My wife got me a Switch for Christmas, I've been playing Breath of the Wild this week. It is absolutely overwhelming.

Other Zelda games I played in my youth were pretty intricate with lots of side quests and exploration outside of the main plot line. With this game, it's so loose I find myself wandering around for hours not even really accomplishing anything. I'm not even sure where to go, and I'm inherently against Googling shit/using guides... but maybe that's a must in 2019? I mean it took me forever to even realize you didn't need a fishing rod to fish and could just bomb those fuckers.

Besides the fact that I am constantly running out of arrows, horrible at combat in this game, never seem to have good weapons (and when I do I break them), and have no idea where to go as my next "step" in the game.... it's a ton of fun.

It's frustrating to learn the controls early on. I died countless times. Once you get better at combat (you will) it gets easier. Work on going to shrines and gaining more hearts. try not to get too distracted, hard in Zelda. Another great tip for beginners is to venture to the Faron Tower. There is a place where you gather a bunch of mighty bananas, once cooked it gives you like 15 hearts. They respawn after every blood moon. Once I did that, the game become a lot easier. It's really a game of discovery and doing what you want. Its not a fast beat this blockbuster game in 8-24 hours. It's an 80 hour minimum game. It took me over 6 months to beat and I only went to 75 % of the shrines. After you get 12 hearts on your meter go to the Lost Woods and get the Master Sword.. I believe you need 12-13 hearts. I never got great at the game but I did need to go to youtube to figure out some things. I try to keep that to a minimum. This game made this 34 year old feel like I was 12 again.

Dropping M80's in fishing holes is how we fish down here in the south. That and jugging.

Who is this 'Rod' you were wanting to fish with?

I've got 115 hours into AC:Odyssey, and I'm still not done with the primary two quest lines yet lol.

Being a completionist and taking care of every POI as I encounter it is a problem. People usually encounter the final missions between levels 40 and 45... I'm level 63 and climbing. Thank god for enemies automatically scaling.

Kind of a bummer: they offer you an Atlantis-related quest line, but there isn't really any heads-up that you should wait to do it until after the main quest. Some spoiler-ish stuff goes on if you finish the Atlantis stuff before anything else. That's probably because it was opened up in October, and aimed at people looking for new content, but those of us taking our sweet time got kind of boned.

Love this game and love the way they do the perks. The more I experiment with gear loadouts, perks, and ability points, the more I enjoy it.

Currently running a full-assassin set... not a lot of defensive potential, and I barely scratch enemies when I'm in open combat unless I use my special abilities strategically, but I can basically infiltrate, fully clear, and assassinate elite enemies at any location without being detected. Really fun and adds a huge layer of legit strategy to the play through.

Yissss

In the first age
In the first battle
When the shadows first lengthened
One stood

He chose the path of perpetual torment
In his ravenous hatred he found no peace
And with boiling blood he scoured the umbral plains
Seeking vengeance against the dark lords who had wronged him

And those that tasted the bite of his sword named him
The Doom Slayer

It's so simple and pure. So the legions of Hell have decided to invade. But don't worry, player.

Doom marine:

That whole opening scene, from the explanation "You must understand, our interest in their world was purely for the betterment of mankind", to Doomguy's emoting, to the shotgun load timing up with the bass drum.... Mmm so good.

If you don't want to play the game after the first intro level then you are probably a demon.

Yup. The narrative all happens so organically. Samuel Hayden is calmly explaining his motivations (via a wonderfully sinister voice actor), and you just smash the speaker in contempt for his excuses. They did a great job of making you feel like a rage-fueled demon-killing machine.

I mixed my load out between assassin and melee. If you get the pride of the lion in the first blade mission you can do 5 rush assassination which pretty much clears out all of the smaller camps. I probably have a 130 to 140 hours in I have the whole game beat. I'm just waiting for the new DLC before I replay it as Alexios.

Chaining 5 rush assassinations will be niiiiice.

I thought about going with a combo build just so I could have a bit more fun with open combat, but I found a nice workaround with a full-Assassin build:

Equipped Typhon's Mace, which buffs your assassin skills when you're playing true to the build, but it also buffs heavy-blunt damage. Fully upgraded the overpower attack skill, and can chain up to four double-hits in a row on different enemies. That solves some of my issues when I get into open combat inadvertently. I'm not dealing a lot of damage on single hits, but chaining 2 overpower hits each on 4 different enemies at a time goes a long way towards thinning the crowd.

I also use Hero Strike, which is totally OP if you're using an Assassin build, because it converts your assassin damage to melee damage, and the game gives you wayyyy more assassin damage than melee damage, regardless of loadout and play style... so if you're building and buffing for assassin damage, you're buffing Hero Strike by orders of magnitude. I can basically two-shot any elite enemy in the game.

(1) Use Shadow of Nyx to infiltrate any area without being detected
(2) Sneak up and use a critical assassination on Elite Enemy
(3) Use Hero Strike while they're stumbling and drawing their weapon
(4) That's it, they're dead now, even on nightmare difficulty

I just finished the main quest and the cultists last night, so all primary story lines are done. Now I'm gonna work on clearing the map and getting the Platinum PSN trophy.

Then I'll start with the DLC that's been released to this point.

I need to check out this hero strike perk. I dont remember if i have it. I am just trucking thru busy season right now at work so I can get back to this game. Its so damn good. I might be able to game a couple hours this Saturday night. I will report back. I think the last thing I did was find the Mom. So not sure how far I am in the main story.
