Does anyone do the PC gaming? I was seriously considering a PC system last year and held off. Now I have enough of a business need that I can justify building a system.

The new(ish) 8gb GPUs make it far more palatable. I've never wandered into the PC gaming world outside of when I was really young and Doom/Mist were first released. I remember replacing my video card at one point, that was really it.

These days I mostly do PC Gaming as well, and occasionally consoles. When it comes to FPS, it's so much easier to shoot and move around with mouse and keyboard over a controller imo. A controller can never come close to the precision of a mouse...but the great thing about PC is you can always plug a controller in if you want to. That said, plenty of other games fair better on PC than console imo. Fallout/Elder Scrolls are almost a must on PC. True, some of them are getting console support for mods, but even then it's limited.

I typically don't spend a ludicrous amount on my builds. I'll replace parts every 5 years or so, and occasionally a video card every 3 if I see a deal. If you do it every 5 years, that's basically the lifespan of most console generations. I never get the most up to date stuff either, I typically get "last year's" stuff and you end up saving hundreds for very little drop off in performance in most cases. If you can do the work yourself, and it's easy for desktops, you can save some good money and you can decide what goes into it as oppose to any of those pre-built rigs.

78 hrs in and I just opened Skellige.

I've been slow playing side quests and looting the hell out of every place I come across. Figure I'll sink a minimum 200 hrs into this game. Haven't even thought about the expansion packs. Will wait until I've completed all of the main quests.

i've been trying to go through the quests in numerical order:

level 10 -> lvl 11 -> lvl 12 etc. Obviously I'll occasionally go slightly out of order when I get pulled into a quest but this is one of the greatest games ever.

This may usurp Skyrim. Still a lot left to be played but the team that created this has something special. Hopefully I have a PC built and ready for the next one.

I swear FIFA has some kind of rivalry uptick or something.... My Celtic squad has won some Euro trophies, I have a win against Barca under my belt, have won numerous big Euro matches, but I can't beat Rangers if my life depended on it.... It's always the same, dominate the game, their goalie makes multiple other worldly saves, and they nick a goal or two on the counter.... Like five straight Old Firms now. Lol... Honestly though it feels like they just play way above their ratings...

Didn't EA have a rivalry uptick in the NCAA Football game? I seem to remember cruising through some games, even if it was versus a top 5 team, but come against a (somehow) struggling USC team and needing miracles to win.

Star Wars Battlefront II confirmed for fall '17 during holiday season, which is no surprise.

It's supposed to tie into the new movies, rather than the OG trilogy.

I'm a SW nerd, so I'll probably be buying it either way, but I realllllllllly hope they:
1. Add a legit campaign
2. Rework the perks/unlocks system
3. For the love of god, please make different weapons act like they are ACTUALLY different weapons, and not just skins of a generic laser gun.

Biggest gripe for me for the last Battlefront. Played it for about 2 days and said, nope not worth it.

I bought BF1 last week and have been having a difficult time adjusting...

1) It's nearly impossible for me to kill anyone from long range. The aiming is strange and I haven't been able to figure it out. I will shoot with the iron sights and somehow I am not killing them? -- There actually seems to be delay where you have to aim in front of them in order to shoot them (realistic?).

2) I am more of a run and gun type of player and BF has clearly not been in my favor for my type of play.

3) I have a tough time spotting people. They seem to be better camouflaged than COD.

4) Maps with roof tops is kind of annoying. It will become a high elevated gun fight the entire round.

5) Snipers are annoying. I don't want to aim - shoot and then have to un-aim to reload. I guess that's WW1, right?

6) You can tell a lot of people, like myself, are giving this game a try with all of the campers. I also heard that BF didn't have campers like COD did. It's pretty bad in BF1.

The positives:

1) More realistic - great graphics

2) I like the fact that you can open and close doors.

3) The Operations game mode is pretty sweet. Definitely my favorite part of the game but it takes about an hour to play. It's probably the most realistic game mode I have played in a shooter before. It's a true all-out-war feel.

4) The campaign seemed pretty interesting. I don't have a whole lot of interest in flying planes or driving tanks but it's decent overall.

I'll give the game a 7/10 for now. I am still used to the COD feel so I would go COD > BF as of now.

I am so sick of the futuristic CODs that are fucking awful. Is there an active, current gen COD game that is set at modern day or earlier?

My favorite COD by far was Black Ops 1.

I snipe on bf. It's not much of a run and gun. You need to use a lot more teamwork. And yes, they put a lot more effort into bullet drop and stuff.

World at War can be played on Xbox One but it is a 360 game. It's hacked out though but they have been trying to ban them now since it went backwards compatible.

1. Theres bullet drop in the game, which adds alittle challenge. It took me a little while to figure it out, but once I got it I dont even notice it anymore.

2. What game mode have you tried to Run and Gun? If you play the Domination Game mode you can absolutely run and gun. I run and gun with the support class all the time.

3. You have to play adapt to how BF is played. You gotta check your corners and and be way more observant for movement than in CODs crappy maps.

4. I mean each rounds game flow is different. I dont agree with you that matches take place on roofs tops that frequently

5. There are several medic class rifles that have a scope and acts like a sniper that you can fire down scope repeatedly with out the animation taking you out of the scope to disgard the round you just fired. Go look up the medic class weapons and you'll find them.

6. I dont agree that the camping in BF1 is that bad. Even when you play domination, which is the smaller version of each maps, the camping is normal or strategic. In COD you just have punks laying in rooms in a normal team death match waiting. You dont really see that in BF.

Very similar on time played right now. What build are you running? Mine has emphasized Quick Attacks and Cat School gear, though now that my Toxicity is high enough for 3 x decoctions, I think I'm going to switch to Strong Attacks and Bear School gear. The combo of Archgriffin, Ekhidna and Water Hag decoctions is incredible for Strong Attack builds; but there's no real equivalent for Quick Attacks.

Have you decided to go for Yenn or Triss? And what difficulty are you playing on?

Now this is good conversation!!

I went heavy into Igni and Arrd. Best for "clearing a room". I'm gonna play through next time and use more Quen and Axii (which I found useless except in Dialogue)

I'm curious about how a Sign-heavy build plays from a combat perspective, but it just seems relatively weak to me. With 3/3 in Acquired Tolerance (to raise your Toxicity high enough for 3 x decoctions) and the Euphoria mutation, you get +200% Sign Intensity for free (not to mention an equally strong boost to your sword attacks). Heavy investment into the Signs tree unlocks some Alternate Sign Modes that add a bit of utility, but as far as raw damage output goes, I'm just not seeing it.

I pretty much only use Quen as it allows me to be more aggressive in melee range. Get the right oil on your sword, maybe soften the enemy up with a bomb or two before engaging, keep Quen active at all times, and then dodge/ stab until dead.

Igni and Arrd come in handy big time when there are multiple enemies...especially the Arrd upgrade that pounds the ground and knocks everyone down.

I'm gonna try your route next time. I actually rarely used the Decoctions...and built up a sign tree that had a blend of combat, signs, and vitality upgrades.

Cool thing is, there are so many ways to go with that game.

Here's what an all-out offensive Euphoria build looks like:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wNFFyScdduI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

And here's a tankier version that puts out similar damage numbers with near invincibility to boot:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/F9hDNpmHzWU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Both of those videos are on Death March difficulty, btw. 100k damage in a single swing is pretty cool.

I have decided that this Fifa has some flaws. Shocking. I know.

I'm the only team in the league who averages over 2 goals a game..I average line 2.1, the next closest team has like 1.4. Manchester City, for whatever reason, lose as often as they win....despite being loaded.

Happy to hear it. At my rate, I'll be adding the expansions this time next year.

Playing Death March, I've never played a game on anything other than the hardest.

My character is an amalgamation of instinct rather than calculation. I'll do a formal reset soon because the video you posted below looked incredible (the 100k hit). The gameplay looked like the most fun and that's what I'm after.

In the Combat branch, I'm running fast attacks and markmanship but the crossbow is used far less than I had imagined. I used it a ton in SkyRim because it could be an incredible force but I don't enjoy using it as much on Witcher.

I've spent for 4 points on Axii and 5 on Igni. Those signs appear to proffer the biggest relative value. Get a lot of EXP from using Axii in dialogues to resolve conflict.

Cat School Techniques and Survival instinct round out my character points. My Sign Intensity currently sits at +40%, attack power is 28% (haven't found a master craftsman yet).

Chose Yenn subconsciously. Never made the overt intention of one or the other but every time I had a quick choice, it was for Yenn.

Here's what an all-out offensive Euphoria build looks like:

That first video was awesome. I'll be resetting and allocating following that template. I've not given decoctions any time other than creating them. I rarely drink one and that's apparently a huge flaw because the upside is incredible.

Crossbow can apparently be a legitimate combat tool once you pick up the Cat Eyes mutation, but until then, it's damage is so low that you can't do much with it other than shoot down flying monsters and kill Drowners under water.

Same. It's supposedly the "correct" choice lore-wise, though I've never played any of the prior games.

I made the same mistake for a long while. RPGs have trained us to hoard powerful consumables and use them only in the most dire circumstances. But decoctions replenish each time you meditate-- along with the rest of your oils, potions, and bombs--so there's no reason not to pop at least one before heading into a tough monster fight.

Yeah, I never felt the need to use it unless I'm underwater....waste

I'm going Triss next go round...I love those redheads

Also my mistake. Although, the further I got in the game, the more I used them

I wish FIFA gave you a crossbow option... or just let you tackle the living hell out of your opponent once in a while. There have been times where I try to just flagrantly rage tackle someone and it won't really let you do it... lol

Trying to figure out how to get my hands on an NES Classic, but the retailers all list it as "available soon."

Not sure if that means they will be allowing online orders on the date it's available, or if it means they've already sold out on pre-orders.

EDIT: Found some info, and it appears that the US will not be doing pre-orders. Gonna have to mash "refresh" on Amazon at midnight on the 11th, or else go battle the masses at Target.

The Sega is available at Target already. I'm gonna pick that up if I can't get my hands on the NES Classic. Might just get both either way, though. I thought it would be cool to hoard as much "classic" gaming for my son as I can, that way we can play together once he's old enough.

The Sega thing is cool because it actually still has the cartridge spot available, in addition to the built-in games. Gonna end up spending a bunch of cash on old Sega games if I get that one haha.
