The Sega is available at Target already. I'm gonna pick that up if I can't get my hands on the NES Classic. Might just get both either way, though. I thought it would be cool to hoard as much "classic" gaming for my son as I can, that way we can play together once he's old enough.

The Sega thing is cool because it actually still has the cartridge spot available, in addition to the built-in games. Gonna end up spending a bunch of cash on old Sega games if I get that one haha.

That's where they (Nintendo) went wrong. I would have been all over this NES Classic if they had that option. I'm always worried that someday my top loading NES is going to bite the dust and I'll be screwed. A brand new NES console /w new controllers would have been great insurance against that happening. As it is, collectors like me have no real reason to purchase an NES Classic.

It may not have been from a reliable source, but I read in several places that Sega will be re-issuing their orginial console, rather than just the plug-and-play version that's out now, and that Nintendo would consider re-issuing the NES/SNES consoles if the market looked okay.

Betting it was just message-board rumor-mongering that got passed around as actual "sources," but I will secretly hold on to my hope of getting my own SNES some day.

My grandma had one at her house, but one of my uncles jacked it at some point and passed it off to a cousin, and now nobody knows who has it, and nobody will claim that they have it.

I really want a SNES, but I am fairly certain I want the real deal...

You're still down in Cinci, right? Take a drive up I-75 to Trader's World/Turtle Creek flea markets, they're at the Big Butter Jesus exit. You can pickup an SNES for a decent price usually, better than Ebay anyway. Of course, if they do rerelease the consoles it would be nice to have a shiny, new system depending on how much they charge for it.

There's a Sega Genesis and Atari available at BJs. $50.

I haven't heard great things about the Genesis flashback. It supposedly has sub-par emulation and not all carts work in the slot. The controllers look and feel real cheap.

The NES Classic edition is made by Nintendo themselves, and is apparently of very nice quality. Three display modes, info and history of the games, QR codes to get the original manuals on your smartphone, plus probably more that I'm forgetting. But if you want one, you need to get it next Friday, supplies are very limited. My local game store ordered 100. They MAY get 5 according to the Nintendo salesman.

I'm jelly. My mom and I lived with my grandparents when I was way young, and I was over there everyday after school until 3rd grade after we moved out.

The had NES and SNES at different points, and they were basically my consoles since I lived there and/or was over there all the time. I grew up on Mario, Street Fighter, Sonic, and Mortal Kombat. However, since they were technically my grandparents', they both got commandeered by older relatives at different points, and never made it to my hands.

My first system that was truly mine was my Sega Genesis. I planned on keeping it for forever, but my mom ended up selling it at a yard sale without my knowledge. I swear, as soon as she is of age, I'm putting her in a home.

I may have to give that a whirl. There's another big flea market on my side of the river in Richwood, KY, but I'd worry about getting sold some broken junk at that one. Maybe I'll make the wife go out with me to scope it out, though.

I'm pretty excited to see what Sombra does to the meta in Overwatch. If she can make it so Reinhardt and Lucio aren't automatic takes in Competitive I think it'll make the game much better. The fact that a competitive team pretty much has to have those two to be viable is my only complaint with the game right now. If she counters Lucio we could see Ana become a more sought after character.

I personally hate it. I can't aim for shit so I main Reinhardt and this might do serious damage to my game, especially in the beginning when Sombra is new and EVERYONE wants to play her. I think Sombra runs the risk of making Tracer obsolete. Her teleporter feels a lot like Tracer's rewind but better.

To your first point:

Reinhardt needs a counter.

I hadn't thought of the effect on Tracer. That's a pretty good point. Also invisibility plus speed > blinking. It's really going to come down to her primary fire and how it compares to Tracer's.

Tracer, Genji, Bastion, Zenyatta, Mei, Reaper, etc.

The point isn't who is good against Rein, but who is especially good against Rein. Most of those you listed are going to give any Tank trouble. Take Mei for example, she's not the type of character that actually makes a Reinhardt consider changing characters. She's going to be annoying no matter what Tank you play as. So that matchup has no effect on the meta because Reinhardt is still obviously the superior Tank for teamwork purposes.

Bastion is the only one of those that I would consider to be counter against a competent Rein because his alt fire can kill a shield in 2 seconds. But even Bastion struggles at higher levels of comp.

Ironically you left out the one character that consistently has me changing out of Reinhardt... Junkrat. That shield is an easy target and he can work it down quickly by just spamming his primary. He also lays down traps that make it so a Reinhardt has to lower his shield to hit and can ruin any charge with his mines. Junkrat is the only character that I change out of Reinhardt when I see that he knows what he's doing.

What level are you playing at? I rarely encounter a Junkrat who knows what he's doing.

I'm somewhere in the platinums. I honestly don't understand the new scoring system and haven't bothered to learn what is good/bad.

Platinum is pretty good. I'm high gold and from what I can tell, platinum is about as high as the "dad gamers" get.

You can get a percentile score of where you rank from Overbuff.com or MasterOverwatch.com, but the percentiles are only of people who have registered on their sites so you're much higher rated than they'd indicate when it comes to the population overall.

Two points:

1. Is Overwatch worth buying? Or is to more of an addicting, soul-sucking force of which I'm best to steer clear?

2. I'm traveling for work this week, in the airport now and I actually packed my console and brought Witcher with me.

Expect a minimum of 30+ hours of additional Witcher game play from me, which means I'll be talkin bout my loot.

It's addicting but not soul-sucking. I play pretty much every single night, but only for about 30 minutes to an hour, about two or three competitive matches. It's not a game like The Witcher where you're going to sit down and get lost for seven hours and look up at 4:00 in the morning wondering what you're doing with your life.

IDDQD, the star Offense player on FNatic's Overwatch team, is currently playing Sombra on his Twitch stream. She looks straight up broken.

SNES for X Mas is a thing... got a system refurb w two controllers, Super Mario, Mario All Stars and Mario Time Machine for 129 shipping included. Going to try to get Super Tennis, Aladdin, Lion King, Power Rangers and Pilotwings before X Mas as well... obviously all but Tennis and PWings is for the girls (mainly my youngest).

I'm excited though, should be fun sharing my childhood with their childhood.

You have to get Donkey Kong Country.

Ah yes, this too... for sure. I think they'd like Jurassic Park too.

There are a number of games I want just for myself too, but those come later...

Both Ken Griffey games
Baseball Simulator 1000
Castlevania IV
Castlevania X (tho I think that game is almost impossible to find)
Dragon Quest Games
Tecmo Super Bowl

In reality I prob won't have time to play almost any of these, lol, but it'll be super cool just to have them again.
