I liked JP alot... it desperately needed a save option tho...

I haven't played it in several years, but I remember there's a real premium on ammunition. More often than not I was faced with raptors and nothing but the stupid cattle prod to protect myself.

No Season Pass on Battlefront II confirmed. EA doesn't want to "fracture the community" (duh), so it looks like heroes and maps and shit are going to be free.

Does anybody play PC games like Crusader Kings II or Civ?

I'll play both total war and paradox. Though they've definitely lost their allure in my eyes. Total War because they moved away from historical games and because they seem to have a "childish" visuals similar to Civ (no disrespect meant to civilization). It just seems dumb down all from the days of Medieval 2. And the parodox games because I think it's rediculous to pay 40-60$ for a base game only to have a $20-40 dollar expansion every month or three that really only unlocks features already present or should have been there in the first place.

New total war in development, historical era not previously done. I am guessing world war era.

Empire Total War and Rome 1 are two of the best games I've ever played.

Holy shit, did EA go under and sell off the company? Since when do they decide to deliver a game with free updates? Something isn't right here.

used to be play Civ and the Total War Series back in the day

Same here. Played a number of turn based games over the years. Really enjoyed Imperialism back in the day. Haven't played Crusader Kings II yet, but it's on my radar. I never got into Civ when I was younger, but I got Civ 1-5 in a GOG.com sale a few years back. They're okay, but I prefer having the ability to control actual battles instead of them being simulated (The former is definitely more time consuming though). For that reason I enjoyed Medieval 2: Total War immensely, and I still fire it up from time to time.

I've been waiting for a up to date Age of Empires 2 Age of Kings since well.. AoE2.... I've played some PC games like it, but nothing comes close to the level of enjoyment that game brought me...

I probably spent a year of my life playing AoE2

Going back to the Battlefront II thing, I have backtracked my good feels and now just assume that they are going to charge $80 for the base game now.

Also, big news from Microsoft. You're now able to return Xbox games that you purchased digitally within two weeks of purchase or two hours of gameplay. That means you can feel confident preordering without getting burned by a shitty game.

Still going to wait until the reviews come out for BF2, I'll give it 3 months at least before I decide to get into it. I have no faith that EA isn't going to give us 8 crappy game modes and 3-4 decent ones, along with a handful of repetitive maps.

Unfortunately I don't have that option. I'm way too shitty at video games so if I were to wait for the entire player base to have three months worth of progression on me before I jumped in, I'd never advance past the most entry-level scrub status.

I dabble in both RTS and Turn based strategy. I don't play either of those though

I used to play some RTS, like Battle for Middle Earth and BFME2. I stepped away from it recently, just because I prefer the turn based stuff.

Loved Total War so much. Rome, and both Medievals were so awesome. I never played Rome 2, and I didn't care as much for Empire.

I've never played a Paradox game, but I've heard nothing but awesome things. It seems like Crusader Kings might be the game to bring me back into spending way too much time playing.

I cut my teeth on Civ III and loved it. I never cared for IV that much. My laptop is so ancient that I can't play anything. Thinking about all of this though, I want to go get a new one just to play these games.

I imagine that the main reason you don't think it sucks is because you probably bought it for $30-$40 with all the DLC. EA originally was asking for $110 to have the full game.

It's weird that the best review of Battlefront exists on a comedy channel, but this gets to the heart of the matter pretty well IMO:

Yep. I did get it for $30 and it came the free DLC for Bespin, Death Star, Outer Rim, and Scarif maps. I like it though. The extra maps are great. Mostly because my son is just getting into them and I am playing with him to teach him how to play smartly online as well as learning how to play FPS games. I get excited becasue he gets excited. Its a good time all around. I cant imagine paying $100 + though. I wouldn't do that personally. I will check out that video when I can. Thanks!

Woah, how do I get in on that deal? I paid full price for the game when it came out, is there anywhere I can get just the DLC for hella cheap?

I don't think it's possible at this point with the base game. You'd have to get a season pass to get all of it, which is still (inexplicably) $50.

You'd be better off trading in your current copy and rebuying the Ultimate Edition lol
