It doesn't really matter though. I'm pretty heavy into the Star Wars Galaxies: Legends server right now, and the space combat in there is 100x better than BF. I can acquire parts and load out my ships again like I used to, not to mention you can fly 20x more ships and you get the opportunity to load out multi-person crafts like YT-1300s (Millenium Falcon) and Gunships. Ever since Sony shut down the original game I've been waiting for something to replace SWG. Star Citizen looked like it would come close, but who knows when that monster will ever see the light of day. I've really enjoyed SWG being back.

I'm more convinced everyday that the movie, "Her" was inspired by you...

If I could get all the quarters back that I spent during my childhood on those two arcade games I could retire, I'm sure of it.

You'd probably enjoy playing this, ACamp. This is what I'm currently doing:

I don't like the close camera angle this guy used, but you can fly in 3rd person or 1st person. A few dozen different ships to fly with (Rebel, Imperial, and Privateer) and you loot parts off your kills. You can either reverse engineer the parts to make better stuff for your own ship, or craft your own parts. This is just some of the space component to the game, and you can use a joystick if you want. The game also has tons of ground content, and housing where you can display your trophies and such.

Yes, online only. Used to be a paid MMO, but it was shut down back in 2011 and is now completely free to play. Problem is you need the discs to play it, or a "liberated" copy (wink wink nudge nudge) you've obtained online.

As far as the kills, it's both. There are CPU ships flying in all of the space zones (Roughly 10 or so different areas, like Tatooine space, Kessel, Deep Space, Naboo, Yavin, Endor, etc). You can hyper between the different zones and you do missions in each as part of your training. There are also players flying in these zones as well, and we do have space PVP most nights. During the week it's pretty light, but we've been having larger 12 vs 12 battles on Saturdays. We've been reaching out to a lot of former players lately, getting them back into the game. We're hoping to get the numbers back to 30 vs. 30/40 vs. 40 or more like they were when the game was live.

Spaceship combat is one of the great missing genres nowadays.

Between the Rouge Squadron series; TIE fighter series; Wing Commander series, it's probably my favorite genre in all of videogames. Nowadays its pretty much relegated to Elite Dangerous (too much resource management) and Star Citizen (will come out when I'm 70). It's a real shame.

I'll always have this at least:

I should probably wait until they reveal some actual gameplay footage, and not gameplay footage that is from cinematics, but since it's WWII, I'm probably gonna buy it.

And I do understand that they wanted the first trailer, and the reveal that they're going back to historical warfare, to be about the show and not the gameplay itself.

Judging by the presence of tanks and planes, though, it seems like they may be taking a page out of BF1's playbook and putting heavy vehicle presence in multiplayer. Just a hunch, though. Could be campaign-only stuff.

older COD WW2 games had "on-rails" tank levels which were kind of lame, probably the same here.

CoD: World at War had some free-form vehicle play involved in both the campaign and in multiplayer matches, so I'm hopeful that it's more than just "color within the lines"

Hope they have some original level design too, the previous games borrowed alot from TV series (band of brothers) and movies (enemy at the gates)

Absolutely. Can you imagine with the tech now what an open world game based on Band of Brothers or Enemy at the Gates?

honestly getting rid of tanks or 'now we play the next five missions as Russians" stuff completely would be preferable imo. Just give me American infantry/airborne etc...

At the risk of sounding insensitive, I wish they could find a way to make Normandy a later level, rather than the standard introductory/tutorial/cinematic level near the beginning.

It would be cool to do some heroic shit in storming the beach and then infiltrating bunkers like some real-life heroes did, rather than being walked-through and taught how to play the game.

I'm sure there's a game that DIDN'T treat it that way, but my only experiences with WWII games were like that.

Do training in Africa/Mediterranean . ;)

Oran, Tunisia, and such was more than a year prior to D Day.. they could build up to it really well and have the second half of the game be Normandy to Berlin.

I like it.

I started "Fire Emblem Fates" on my 3DS last night. I picked up the Conquest version, which is supposedly the more challenging version, though I'm not sure I made the right choice in terms of storyline, because Conquest allies you with the arrogant (and obviously bad guys) faction.

Also not sure I made the right choice in jumping straight to this in the first place haha. Probably should have picked up "Awakening" first to get a feel for the new gen of Fire Emblem games. It's a far cry from the GBA Fire Emblems that I'm familiar with.

They also have a Fire Emblem game that's free on the App Store and Google Play that is supposed to be fantastic, so I may check that out.

lol they were saying they wanted to do something original. then they revealed the game starts with the normandy beach landings through France and into Germany. Just like every WW2 game ever made in history.

You play as a single US grunt, there is no "World at War" dynamic at play.

Beyond "we start at Normandy," there aren't actually any details... they just keep saying "we want to dig deep and be detailed," aka we are trying to make the story good, because kids with ADD won't have a bunch of equipment to choose from like in Advanced Warfare.

Same shit with BF1 dude, all the kids used to play BF4 with all the gun and gadget selection lost interest in it. Nobody plays it on PC anymore even, empty servers.

BF1 has like 20+ full servers every time I'm on.... and that's not counting the new map servers i don't have access to.

Can someone help me remember a game I played once upon a time? It was browser and text based, multiplayer. You had kingdoms of different players. Raised gold to recruit dragons. Went to war with other kingdoms. There were wizards and halflings and shit.
