Stranger things season 3 was great. My wife’s choice was Riverdale and it could be worse. Looking forward to more City on a hill and the new season of Jessica Jones.

Does anyone watch Instant Hotel on Netflix? My fiance loves it and I actually don't mind it. The rest of this post will make absolutely no sense if you don't watch so feel free to ignore...

What I absolutely don't get is the scoring system. I don't understand why all the scores are revealed to all of the couples each episode, and why the last hosts don't just give a score of 0 to all the guests to ensure they reach the finals. I guess you could argue that tanking another team could bite you in the ass if they are brought back for the finals, but if it means getting there or not then it's worth it...

If it were up to me, all the scores would be revealed at the end of the last episode. The professional objective opinion would also count a lot more. I would also provide an incentive to the other couples to score fairly. Maybe the team that scores closest to the professional opinion gets bonus points.

Took the kids to see the new Lion King for my wife's birthday last night. We both love the OG Disney movies and we both felt they did a great job with this one.

*Off topic but I need to vent. I literally just got railroaded by a SUPER far left progressive co-worker claiming that the reason I didn't like the new Beauty and the Beast (which I never said) was because they made Belle more femenist and I'm a white male so of course I wouldn't like that. SERIOUSLY!? God, I'm so over this group of people who pull this BS.

That's idiotic. They did nothing significantly different with Belle. They made Gaston's lacky appear to be gay but other than that...still the same. People see what they want to see I guess.

Mr. Roger's movie looks really good

Disney admitted that he was gay, but even if you take that out of the movie it is still a terrible movie.

Didn't you hear? I'm racist because I'm against changing the literal race of a classic Disney character based in Denmark from the 1800s. Imagine the rage if they changed Tiana the Frog Princess from a black character to a white one. Oh forgot, their silly rules don't work that way because they're illogical.

They added new songs and added new scenes, while removing others. Overall I enjoyed but God forbid I try to point out legitimate discrepancies between the classic cartoon version and the new live action.

Yes! Mr. Rogers movie looks amazing. Tom Hanks is by far my favorite actor.

I don't have any issues with the gay community, but when Disney does something like that, it's just pandering to the PC crowds. Making Lefou gay was completely irrelevant to the story. Overall, my wife and I both enjoyed it. I wouldn't say it was terrible, but not my favorite either.

So far Jungle Book and Lion King have been in a league of their own.

Ariel is a fictional sea creature that decides she wants to be human.

Anybody feeling positively OR negatively about her skin tone is doing too much lol.

If this was a new movie based on the Hans Christian Anderson story then sure, but people are annoyed because this is an adaptation of the Disney animated version with a character they already know and have a visual representation of.

I'd love to see this attempted with the princess and the frog or Mulan just to see the hypocrisy of the people who think the little mermaid change is nbd.

The second part is real... it would go from 'Oh, you all big mad??" to "Oh, I'm big mad." real quick, but only from those who were reveling in whatever level (mostly made up) of actual hate the new mermaid choice received. It's like when Moana 'offended' Polynesians, but when you looked at it they just kept using the same four or five tweets in all these stories.

If you change Tiana, of course black people are going to be upset that you took away the first black Disney Princess.

And you can't have Mulan if the lead isn't Asian. You can't have a Pocahontas that isn't Native American. That's just a reality based on their stories.

Comparing those to the original princesses, where cultures weren't central to their stories, is apples and oranges IMO.

This is stupid to even talk about but all the original Disney princesses take place in European counties 100's of years ago. So I would their cultures had plenty to do with the stories. Little Mermaid is supposed to be in the water off of Norway

Right, but Ariel isn’t Norwegian. She’s a sea creature lol. The story doesn’t change if you change her ethnicity.

Gattaca is arguing that they are changing the imagery of a beloved childhood classic, which I understand (my wife’s favorite Disney princess is Ariel, so she agrees with him lol). But at the same time, the story itself is no different regardless of representation. Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Ariel... their stories don’t change with their skin tone.

Tiana, Pocahontas, Milan, and even Snow White (lol)... they’d skin tone is essential to their story.

I see the merit in holding firm in some places and not others, is all.

The fact that these conversations are finally happening about the color of one's skin and the absolute irrelevance that it should make... Makes me a proud American. Tribalism Is a centuries-old act, and we have made some evolutionary changes for the good. Contrary to some.

Seen season 1 of Snowfall and thought it was great. Don't know why I haven't watched season 2.

On all this Disney stuff... I really don't care who plays what. I think it's sad, and a shame though that classics are becoming more and more an extension of politics. You simply can't watch anything (sports, movies, tv, etc) without some type of political narrative. And I love the outrage now when a straight person gets a role to play a gay person. It's OK for gay person to play a straight character, but not the opposite. The world is simply crazy.

Started watching Designated Survivor and thought the first season was great, 2nd season good and then Netflix took over the show and it is horrible now

I thought Netflix took a big step back on storyline on Designated Survivor, and a bigger step forward on progressiveness.... They need to cut that shit out, and let Kiefer do Kiefer.

In another move to Netflix, Lucifer (one of my brainless guilty pleasures) actually got better IMO. I thought the funny was turned up a few notches, and the underlying storyline got better.
