Hopper is very obviously alive. Really really like GATTACA's possible explanation for the American being a fake out. That would piss so many people off just for it to be doubly redeemed later in the show. I just hope they give an acceptable explanation for that final lab scene.

I think El will spend a good portion of the next season without any powers, it might be frustrating how long it takes them to come back.

Also, how y'all feel about ya boy Alexei? I didn't hate him or anything, but it seems like a pretty wide consensus that he was awesome. Obviously a somewhat minor, mostly silly character but he was involved in some pretty fucked up stuff, and though he wasn't the evil mastermind behind the whole thing some Looney Toons and slurpees don't make me love him all of a sudden.

Who here watches Big Little Lies? Was thrown into the middle of season 2 with a friend of mine and I didn't really have a connection to the characters yet, all I knew was that I hated Meryl Streep's character. So today I decided I would start from the beginning and I ended up binging all of season one today lol. Loved it. More than anything, does a great job showcasing how difficult it can be for women to come forward while in abusive relationships. The acting is top notch, as you would expect with some of those names in there.

Did that show get dubbed? I remember seeing it pop up on Netflix a while ago and I was going to give it a shot before I realized it was all in German (?), but I just went and watched the trailer and it's in English?

I binged S1 and liked it but felt like basically nothing happened. The payoff was good and acting great but it moved too slowly. I'm sure I will watch S2 whenever I get HBO again but not going to renew subscription for it.

You can watch it dubbed but I honestly wouldn't bother unless you have the time and patience to watch in German with subtitles. The German actors are so good and you would lose a lot of powerful emotional moments doing it that way.

Also what is really added by them banging? Instead we got her deciding not to go through with it and see her trying to be a better mother and wife later on in the season.

Fair enough. I actually really liked how you could tell Billy was fighting the possession and forcing himself to scream at her because he didn't want her to get hurt.

I do think a scene of them talking about it could have been cool too though.

I wasn't saying that they needed to bang it out to redeem the story line. I just thought that it was a relatively shallow part of the plot that seemed to be built up into a big deal, when really there was almost zero substance. They flashed "fuck me" eyes back-and-forth a few times, then they set up a meeting... just so Billy can be on the road on that night and so we see that Mrs. Wheeler isn't an adulterer after all?

It needed to be more fleshed out for the "Mrs. Wheeler still loves her family" angle to have any purpose, and for Billy's crash on the way to the meeting to seem more tragic, IMO.

Billy's redemption in the end would have been waaaaaay more badass had they spent more time humanizing his mental/personality issues in almost any other way.

You can watch it dubbed but I honestly wouldn't bother unless you have the time and patience to watch in German with subtitles. The German actors are so good and you would lose a lot of powerful emotional moments doing it that way.

I think you can make a case for both. I agree listening to the dubbed version can detract from the acting, but I think focusing on the subtitles can detract from the story. The story is so complex at times, it's brain numbing trying to keep up with the connections, history, twists, etc..

Watching Shangri-La on Showtime. I thought it was going to be about the history of the place, but looks to be just during Rick Rubin's days after a brief pre-Rubin history. Pretty darn good. If you're a fan of Def Jam, Beastie Boys, RDMC, or just music in general, definitely worth a watch. Eps 1 and 2 now available on demand.

DARK SPOILERS DO NOT READ

Just finished it. Loved it except for a few things. Mostly the closed circle of Elizabeth-Charlotte-Elizabeth.... I can make the leap on all the other stuff, but that just doesn't compute. Thought a mid level cop ordering the dig at a nuclear plant was a stretch as well. And lastly, not sure how I feel about a new universe.

Loved it except for those things. Glad they renewed already for a 3rd and final.

Since you don't mind subs, check out Trapped. S2 just became available on Amazon. Great story, great acting, etc.. Ólafur Darri Ólafsson is one of my favorite actors. You're probably not familiar with his name (he's from Iceland), but he's had several English roles in movies and TV. S2 is next on my list to binge, but probably going to rewatch 1 first.

I watched the dubbed version mostly for S2, and it was more than fine for me. If you're doing other tasks while watching Dark though, you're going to miss a bunch. It's a very deep and detailed show. Pretty heavy on the brain the farther you get.

The Handmaid's Tale is very solid. Not close to Dark level, but still pretty good. I find it very silly that all the Libs love to toss it around (Milano is probably the worst) for political purposes, but aside from that, great acting and entertainment value.

I'm through 4 episodes. It really turned up after episode 2. I really like the new chick (Maya Hawke).

The only bad thing I've noticed is that the actor that plays Will Byers is...not good. It feels like they are stuck with him. Unless he is asked to scream and act possessed he is really bad.

I agree with Will having a number of 'that was bad' moments this season..

I get the hate for the Kali story-line,... the rest of that season was much better imo. 3 didn't have a huge low like that but it didn't really have many highs either. There were numerous moments in S3 were I just sat there like... 'I'm ready for this part/story line/episode to be over now.' Aside from that one episode in season two I never felt that way during the first two seasons. I can't quite put my finger on it but yeah, this season never really gripped me the way the other two did. That's what made the kali episode so bad... you were SO into the rest of the season and then, boom...
