Tiana's skin tone is not central to her story...

Not in the sense that I reasoned for the other characters, but she is the first black Disney Princess, and I think that is an essential part of the character and thus *her* story.

Work is dead during most of the Summer and our campus library has a dope media collection, so I'm gonna watch "Airheads" while I eat breakfast at my desk today.

It's not like it's an amazing movie, but I could watch it over and over again. It's trippy to see Brendan Fraser starring with support from Steve Buscemi and Adam Sandler.

Tomorrow, I'm gonna watch the Greater Cincinnati classic "Airborne."

Ok finally finished season 3 of Stranger Things.

SPOILERS

HATE HATE HATE that they made that new chick a lesbian out of nowhere. I have no problem with a character being gay but when the entire season is a romantic buildup between her and Steve and they do that it's just stupid. They got us invested in that relationship, there was no foreshadowing as to her sexuality, and then poof it's gone because reasons. Imagine if Hopper was just like...I recently realized I'm gay and so I no longer like you, Joyce.

I thought it was good for further cementing The Hair as the GOAT... he took it in stride and was like "you do you, now let's get these Commies."

I said the same thing... it served literally no purpose story wise... It totally felt forced for 'LGBT fan service'.

Ariel was the first white mermaid... lol

Either way I don't care, the whole thing is just stupid imo, from many different angles. Anyway, my daughter was watching Princess and the Frog last night while going to bed. It was a physical disk tho...

My son watches physical DVD's in his room before bed. The public library is a magical place with much content.

He's been on a Sandlot kick for like two months now. He wants to watch it every night while he falls asleep. Then when he wakes up, he comes into our bedroom with his ball and glove lol.

That's really cool! I'm hoping my youngest gets there with the baseball love...

I have an odd relationship with the Sandlot tho, lol

All this talk, discussion and outrage over cartoons.

It's demeaning,... the preferred descriptive is "artistically expressed beings".

I get about 2 episodes into a season of Last Chance U every year because I'm starving for football and then remember that I hate it and stop watching. The kids are hopeless, the coach is a bully, the assistants are cronies, and the teachers are checked out and/or hopeless themselves.

Not that you should continue watching something you don't enjoy, but this year they had an English teacher that did a legitimately good job working with one of the primary players.

The payoff in the final episode when she reviews his paper and then gives him his grade was legitimately emotionally rewarding for me.

That was about it for the entire season, though, in terms of 'reward.'

I watched it because I thought it was entertaining to see Jason Brown finish his downward spiral via bullying and a lack of accountability that finally bit him in the ass, not just when he got fired, but with how bad the team was in general.

Starting watching "The Rook" last night on Starz and not sure what to make of it. 2 episodes in and I'm intrigued but not completely sold.

On the topic of Designated Survivor, just saw it was just cancelled. They should have just fired the progressive show writers and let Kiefer be Kiefer.

Animal Kingdom just got renewed for another season. Love that show. Barkin is a bad bitch.

I haven't watched e2 or beyond. going to catch up Friday or Saturday.

"Who Killed Garrett Phillips?" - documentary on HBO.

I believe that the judge got the correct verdict.

Been watching "Alone" again. This season they dropped the contestants into northern Canada at the Great Slave Lake. IIRC, it's about 100 miles south of the arctic circle. They're down to 6 contestants. Lots of wildlife (bear, moose, wolves, wolverines, foxes, etc.) running around. One guy killed a moose with a bow and has been fending off all the wildlife to protect his meat. He's been dealing nightly with a wolverine, but couldn't see or kill it, so he set a line with a few cans on it to alert him. The wolverine tripped the cans and he was finally able to get it with his bow. As long as he keeps his mental faculties, he should have enough food to out last the others.

One lady keeps setting snares to catch rabbits, but the foxes keep taking the rabbits. You can't hunt foxes which makes it tougher to catch food. Another lady shot a squirrel with a bow, but it didn't kill it. When she located it, knowing it was still alive, she stupidly picked it up to comfort it and the little dude clamped down on her hand and gave her a good puncture. Now she has to watch to see if she contracted tularemia, typhus or the plague.

$500,000 waiting for the winner.

England v Ireland in test match cricket.

Ireland were looking very good until about 90 minutes ago but have lost 5 quick wickets (wait now 6 I think) and look like getting all out for under 100 maybe even all out for under 50. They are 6/24.

Did the dude with the moosemeat go to ND or OSU?

Don't think so. Here's his bio.

JORDAN JONAS
Age: 35

Hometown: Lynchburg, VA

Profession: Construction

Jordan Jonas grew up on a farm in Idaho and from there, traveled the world, which he recalls through his various injuries. Jordan’s first significant memory comes from after a summer of riding freight trains across the country when he critically injured his knee. Soon after, he set off for Siberia where he would eventually learn to fur trap and survive in one of the most remote places on earth. While in these harsh conditions he spent a month and a half alone in the wilderness where he survived a fall through the ice into a frozen river – alone and miles from a cabin. After that learning experience, he began living with nomadic Evenki reindeer herders deep in the taiga. Of course, those years were not without incident either, including chopping a tendon in his good knee that left him immobilized for three days in a tipi, pulling himself out of a mud bog that enveloped him to his shoulders, having his ribs broken by a reindeer, and nearly dying after accidentally ingesting a mouthful of gasoline.

Has anyone seen Dead to Me? Or Snowfall?

Two recent recommendations from a friend - curious if anyone else checked these out.

Dead To Me was awesome, in a rather bonkers way. Fun show.

I watched maybe half the first season of Snowfall and it seemed like it had potential, but was also trying to do/say too much and I had a hard time getting into it.

Started watching Harrow (CBS Australia - Pathologist type show) season two this week. Really enjoyable show with solid characters. Great underlying story in the first season, as well as so far in S2. Also watching My Life is Murder (another Australian show with Lucy Lawless) that's currently airing S1.

Watched Ep1 of Netfix's new show Another Life (sci fi with Katee Sackhoff). Horrible... low budget and shitty acting. I think Sackhoff is smoking hot, but even that can't save this one. Doubt I will even give E2 a try.

If I ever smoke weed again, that would be a good series to binge over a weekend with a couple bags of cheetos. Truly a WTF kinda show.
