Haha! I've already had it! A Couple Two Tree by Pipeline. REALLY spicy Ale. Not my style but the greatest name ever!

Had some Laphroaig 10 year with my brother in law over Thanksgiving... it was incredibly good for Scotch.

What's everyone's thought on this??I found it surprisingly enjoyable for Scotch. Reminded me of Corzo tequila. I don't like drinking hard alcohol and can't choke down tequila generally but find I like Corzo well enough...

Nobody?? I assumed this would kick off a nice dialogue as most here are far more schooled on whiskey's and such than I... I'm actually considering picking up a bottle or two soon, which for me is a huge step when it comes to Scotch. I usually only purchase it for my buddies...

I stopped reading the OP at "good for scotch". I assumed the rest was an apology.

Laphroaig is one of the best Islay scotches and, ever since Costco started carrying it, one of the most accessible ones here in the US, too. If you're looking for a peat bomb, it's great value. You might try Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Bruichladdich and Caol Ila if you're looking to further explore the style.

I don't have much taste for smoke, so I tend to stay away from Islays. Tastes like I just licked an ash tray. But that's just me. When it comes to scotch, my jam is definitely sherried Macallan.

I'm of course as newb as anyone on this topic but I'm a bit surprised here. I've had Macallan a number of times (though I do not know if it's the type you are specifically referencing) and couldn't drink it, just fire. For smokey/ash tray Scotch I immediately think Johnny Walker. What i tried was smooth and not really smokey, at least to me. My friends all like Scotch and Bourbon and such and I'm often asked to try it here and there, Laphroaig may be the first one I thought,.. damn, I can drink this...

What is your go to?

I would definitely not say I have a go-to. I've stuck to Glenlivet normally, or Glenmorangie if I just wanna keep some whisky around. The best thing I can recall having was a Glenlivet Nadurra, which was aged in some sherry cask.

Definitely what I remember hating about Laphroaig

I'm enjoying the world's best selling Scotch right now AND a Ballast Point Spruce Tip.

I am no fan of Ballast Point but this Spruce Tip is borderline great.

Interesting, I've seen Spruce Tip around but my general thoughts towards BP made me pass... I'll have to pick some up.

Avery Collaboration not Litigation with Russian River. A collaboration from 2015 a random liquor store in my home town had a bomber of, super good. Loved it back then, loved it more now. Raisins and dried fruit, can't wait to see if they have another bomber at Christmas.
