We just tapped Sixpoint Beast Mode at work. I'm excited to try it but some of the reviews I've read peg it as just a cut above mediocre. I'll see.

I mixed my Fireball with some Lipton Citrus Green Tea. Really just tastes like Fireball minus the kick which is exactly what I was looking for...

Me and this Fireball are becoming mighty friendly.

Bell's Hopslam again tonight. This time from a Dogfish Head IPA glass. The glass helped the aroma some (which also helps the taste) but it was still a little bit of a disappointment (in comparison to the price).

Ive all but sworn off Dogfish Head ( know the story of that name??)... It's good, but way overpriced.

I am just using the glass that them and Sierra Nevada designed. It looks like this.

Edit: I think that a few of their beers are pretty good but many are over-hyped especially their IPAs.

I hear ya,... I just thought id share my thoughts on them since you mentioned the glass... Midas Touch is like the single most overhyped beer ever... Way too expensive... Dogfish is a bit too floral for my tastes as well.

The name comes from a town in Maine called Dogfish Head where the brewery founder (Sam Galagione) spent his summers when he was young. The town got the name from the large amount of small sharks (aka dogfish) that the lobstermen would frequently pull up in their traps.

Their Indian Brown Ale, which is a cross between an IPA, a Scotch Ale and an American Brown Ale, is delicious. Like a Newcastle...but with much, much more flavor. Killer brown sugar aftertaste. One of my favorite beers of all time!

I just about choked reading that statement. Like a Newcastle? I don't know if you are joking or not. Damn.

For the record, I do think that their Indian Brown Ale is very good (one of my favorite of their beers along with Bitches' Brew) but I don't think that I would classify it anywhere close to Newcastle.

I seem to recall liking Miles Davis Bitches brew too but I also like 90 minute (didn't like it at first though). Don't like 60 minute or Midas Touch at all. One thing is for sure ALL DFH beers are very overpriced and very over-hyped. I haven't bought MDBB again and I only get 90 minute at one restaurant.

Last night, I had The Reverend by Avery. Good quad for the $ in my opinion.

I have been looking into this type of glass. Is it worth the extra space in my bar to get some?

Ballast Point Victory at Sea. Tastes like an iced vanilla coffee with a little cocoa mixed in.

I've got the March edition of Enjoy By that I'll be cracking open momentarily.

I had one for February, but I missed the date by a few days because I'm a fool. I'm curious to see how drastic the difference is.

I have one of the glasses and will probably pick up a second one. If you are comparing it to a pint glass then it is far superior but if you normally drink from a good tulip shaped glass such as

spiegelau_tulip_beer_classic_glass.jpg

or
il_570xN.346716781.jpg

Then it will be different and maybe a little better (though some people just say different). The big things on the IPA glass are the ridges which help to aerate the beer which helps when you nose it (and some think it helps with the mouthfeel as well).

For example I find that Bell's Hopslam is significantly better out of the IPA glass then out of a pint glass (next up for it is a tulip glass) because it accentuates out the sweet and bitter notes.

Edit: If you do get an IPA glass make sure the base is ridged as there have been some that are not and that removes part of the point of the glass.

Bell's Hopslam this time from a Tulip glass. Probably better then from a Pint glass but still not as good as when poured into an IPA glass. Also still disappointed by this beer.

I'll give it a ringing endorsement. The narrower glass rim makes sure you get every aroma in the nose and I really enjoy how the shape of glass constantly makes sure the beer has some head. I've been very pleased and has quickly become my go-to glass when drinking an IPA.

Hopslam, love this beer (sorry you guys don't like it). Although I agree the price is high this year.

What is this? Whiskey, Bourbon?

Pkt77242, what is your occupation? Lawyer?

Whiskey already hit it on the head that Rochefort 10 is a Belgian Quad that is absolutely wonderful and I will add that along with St. Bernardus Abt. 12 it is one of the best Belgian Quads available in the US.

I work in a management for a bank. I would suck as a lawyer, that is Whiskey's territory.
