24-14 ND

I think this will be a lot like the 2013 Temple game. We start off hot and then sputter.

Yup, kind of what I'm thinking too.
I would love a dominant start to finish game, but there are always hiccups in season openers.

GO IRISH!

I think we'll beat the brakes off them. Which has me concerned since Georgia should be the focus.

Maybe I'm just being superstitious, but a wise professor once told me, "if you're not superstitious, you just don't care enough."

EDIT: Prediction: 41-14 #bodybybalis #elkooooooooooohhhhh

Georgia should NOT be the focus this week. ND plays Temple. Eason and Chubb won't be on the field this week.

Execute, Execute, Execute!

Get the play off with having to call a timeout.

No False Starts.

TEAM play.

QB, RB, WRs, and TEs seeing and reading the defense in sync. Receivers breaking the same way the QB throws the ball.

Opening THE hole and the RB hitting it.

Tackling.

Pass Rush

Coverage sacks (remember them?)

In brief all the shortcomings ND has repeatedly suffered from. That will be the best preparation for Georgia and the rest of the schedule.

IF Wimbush can't read and make progressions against Temple or if he can't "Call and Haul" against Temple, he's not going to miraculously gain that "vision" in the next 7 days.

34-17 Irish.

Feels closer than it ends up looking. It will be a one score game at half.

ND 45
Temple 27

ND hits the gas out of the gate. We pull majority of starters and Temple scores a couple times making it appear closer than it really was. We rush for over two fitty which has IE liike:

Bonus: we get repetition for a lot of players which should bode well for the rest of the season.

Negative: the team doesn't get to experience the crunch of playing from behind.

We all collectively turn towards Georgia by 4th quarter like:

I'm gonna guess ND 38 Temple 14. Like BGIF stated we need to be focused on Temple this week and not worried about Georgia. We need to be laser focused and execute our game plan with minimal mistakes.

Given BK has mentioned more than once going back to the basics, I think you'll find a marked improvement in these areas. Irish 38 - 10.

All I want to see is ZERO timeouts coming on 1st down due to "play calling confusion".

Is that too much to ask for? (don't answer that)

The guy who made the long goodbye post and retired is out here making prediction threads lol.

ND 42, Temple 17.

Temple will get a couple early scores, as one of their 3/4 QB's will be all jacked up to play in South Bend and win himself the job on his two first-half drives.

The ND defense comes out in the second half and shuts down Temple's newfound QB behind Elko's halftime adjustments, and ND cruises to a nice win, dominating the third and fourth quarters.

Book gets two drives in the fourth, and TJ Jr/Dex salt the game away as Eichenberg, Ruhland and Hainsey get some PT on the OL. Studstill will make a big play in garbage time and everyone will be calling for him to start at SS with Elliot sliding to FS.

It isn't pretty but ND wins by 11. UGA scores late to win by 14 against App State. IE will be divided leading up to the UGA game between ND will get crushed and ND wins by double digits.

I think the new Oc will find out what he has in the running game. Don't be surprised if we have 200 rushing yards. We have the weapons on offense i am curious as to what the defense will do. If they are stronger than last year new the new scheme excites the players this should be the story of the game.

That's a paltry sum against, what seems from this point, one of the weaker opponents on the schedule. Let's hope it's substantially more.

I think we all go from worrying about Temple to being unconcerned with Temple and worried that Georgia is going to ruin our strength of schedule in two hours.

We win big against Temple.
We watch UGA struggle against App. State. They put it away late and NBC gets its ranked matchup.

Are you being serious? Not trying to be funny, but do people actually think Georgia isn't going to be good? Because I think they're going to be nasty.

Wait you think Georgia is going to be good? I wasn't aware.

In all seriousness, I think they are the same as a lot of Georgia teams in the past. I think with a very questionable O-Line they are going to struggle against teams that are committed to stopping the run. There's a chance that Eason is just lights out, and they become scary, but I haven't seen that level of consistency yet. They'll play with the big boys when focused, but will drop a game to Missouri or some other lesser program when not. I haven't seen anything to make me think otherwise.

I also think App. State is a disciplined well run football program that has a 50% chance of being "in the game" in the 4th.

I see a 14-17 point win that won't feel as close as the score indicates. I envision a pretty vanilla game plan on both sides of the ball, with us committed to the run. On defense I see us flipping out a couple of times over big gain broken plays with a missed tackle or 2 for good measure. I think Elko plays close to the vest without tipping too many exotic looks to UGA. I feel our staff thinks we have the ability to control this game athlete on athlete across the board. I know this is dangerous after a 4-8 season, but I'm confident in the new coaches and the commitment to fundamentals. 31-14 Irish. Never in doubt.

I typically am a little hesitant to call a lopsided victory, especially with a team hosting a new coach that we won't have any tangible film on, but I feel good about this. Lot of positive vibes coming out of camp, coach says everyone is locked in and mentally prepared. The team is playing in a renovated ND stadium for the first time, crowd should be pumped too. I think we get up early and take the wind out of the Owl's sails, then don't look back.

100 - 3.
Realistically I'll say 35-10.
