Probably because we "pirated" him from Mike Leach.

Arrrggghhhuably one of the most important flips of the Kelly Era.

Ian is a great treasure. He even rums the ball well.

Well done. Dex just makes me happy. Boykin as well. Was a bit worried with the JO ejection, seems the likely hood of posting an L goes up dramatically after targeting calls. Feels like they only got the better of us on ST.

Very impressive performance overall. So proud of this football team and the way they come out ready to compete week in and week out. This is a very talented squad and I love the mental toughness this team has. By far the best team we have had since our 2012 season. This was also our best road win since 2012 in which we beat Oklahoma in which I was in attendance. This team is special folks!! We keep getting better and better!!! Go Irish!!!

Alright guys:

1. Raucous environment
2. Start hot and fade
3. Regroup after the half
4. Play without 2 of your best 4 pass rushers
5. QB throws first INT of the year
6. Down 1.5 RBs

We played that poorly and still came out with a 22 point win

Dex should've gotten the game ball.

Ademilola twins look ready to contribute! Great job by the defense standing strong, great job by Dex bailing us out and swinging momentum back in our favor to neutralize the crowd.

There needs to be a separate session where Ian Book works on the deep ball because it will be needed. Right now, the rest of the things he can do are enough.

Yep, if he hits Finke and Claypool we drop 60 on them.

What an awesome freaking win. I was pretty nervous and a little pissed off at halftime. It was probably a combination of the Okwara ejection and the offense disappearing that made me feel that way.

But what a way to come out and start the second half. Making them punt on their first drive in the second half was so important and the 97 yard house call to follow that up was a back breaker.

I was a kinda glad Ian threw a pick in this game. At some point, he was gonna come back down to earth and I'm glad he did it in this game. How would he respond after making a mistake, on the road, in a hostile environment? I thought he responded really well.

I thought the defense played well as well, given the shitty hand they were dealt. I still get so annoyed with the soft coverage they play. Troy Pride is the fastest guy in the stadium, there is zero reason for him to play 8 yard off the LOS. I know its a scheme thing so I can't blame the players. Love is a beat. Kareem is a beast. Okwara was causing all sorts of chaos in the backfield before he got ejected. The twins look like the real deal.

I have to give credit to the VT QB. The media had me believing we were going up against a Tommy Rees; everyone was calling him a statue. I don't think they could've been anymore wrong. For a big guy, he could scoot and I think he has the strongest arm this defense has seen so far.

Huge win - and we escaped healthy I believe?

This team just keeps delivering and Book is doing such a great job of giving us a balance so the defense has a counterpart they can rely on when needed.

Also, Dexted William's is everything we hoped he'd be. Hes a game wrecker.

Outstanding win.
Team shows great mental toughness.
Environment didn't shake them.
Good start by the O.
Second quarter was spent trying to put them away quickly.
Defense was huge at the goal line and RZ.
Got back to what we do in the second half. Great call by BK to recognize this.
I think all of the quick passes has Book over throwing the deep ball. Needs to recognize he has a little more time or put a little more air under it so he doesn't over throw his receivers. Probably score 55-60 if he hits the deep ball.
Good for Book to see all of the different looks Foster gave him and still move the O.
On to Pitt.

I have two things the team needs to work on to take them to the next level.
1. Our DB’s give the much cushion to the other team sitting 10 yards off the line their WR’s were way to much open at times. Need to fix this.
2. Ian book needs to practice his timing on the deep ball there were 4-5 throws he missed guys that were wide open at least put it on their hands. He hits two of those throws this game is over before half time.

We really need to get Dexter involved in the passing game with how elusive he is even if it’s only 3 touches a game. Get him a couple swing passes into space with Kmet, Mack, and Claypool lined up on that side.

-Best road win of the Kelly Era since Oklahoma
-Best team of the Kelly Era?
-Ian is the truth
-Dex is our only true RB right now
-In the past we would have never overcome that 2nd quarter the way we did and would have either lost or eeked out a close win.
-Lea is the best defensive coordinator to set foot on campus in 20 years
-Top 5 here we come

The twins look like the real deal.

We knew Jayson A was going to be an impact player but didn’t know about Justin. Glad to be proved wrong. He looks the part physically already as a true freshman. Excited for him and Ade O as our ends once the ‘16 class leaves.

Holy shit, seriously?! And just think about how many points we left on the field, too 😮

It was strange checking my phone for updates and if it was a good update Id picture Val Kilmer from Tombstone in the stands celebrating in full, “you ain’t no daisy!” Mode.... if it was a bad update I pictured him all sickly and dying of consumption....

Me to the Va Tech fan next to me immediately after the 97 yard run:

Missed tackles remain a problem, but the team did what they needed to win.I don't know if we can win out but the odds are in our favor.

Nothing more to say about the game that hasn't already been covered. Enter Sandman entrance is the best team entrance I've ever seen in person bar none. Blew the Clemson hill run out of the water. Crowd was loud but not hate-fueled. I'll again say that Va Tech fans were the nicest I've ever been around. I was constantly welcomed to Blacksburg and if I ever looked confused about which direction to head it wasn't long before someone asked me if I needed directions. To the point where after the game I was being thanked for making the trip by their fans. Definitely will pull for Va Tech versus random teams in the future.

I’m surprised to hear that, my dad was at this game and said the same sentiment about their fans. We both went to the UVA game in 2015 and those guys were such assholes. I’ve always known that UVA fans were more snooty but I would’ve thought they’d have some humble and welcoming fans, and that VT would’ve been the more hostile fan base. Couldn’t be more wrong. Had a bunch of UVA fans cheering for Zaire’s injury, calling him a pussy and whatnot. Glad to know that VT was welcoming

Of course they can... will they is the question as with any team.

Even Bama's only done it ONCE in the last 25 seasons.

I wonder if they had good experiences up in SB and word spread? Sounds like the OU series where everyone got along... good stuff.

I'm almost with certain my 8-4 prediction is incorrect. When the quarterback's version of a bad day is over 70% completion ratio and two touchdowns, you're doing something right.

I’m sure there’s exceptions to the rule, but I can’t imagine opposing fans being treated w/ more class & dignity than when they visit ND.

Texas was the same. Had a great time with a group of UT folks in Wrigleyville and then at the home game tailgate. Part of my crew went to Austin and said it was a 100% class act w/ 0 problems.
