If your buddy Otis jumped off a cliff, would you?
That used to be a parental standby to elicit the begrudging answer, "No."
Yet from the "whatever you can do ridiculously I can do just as ridiculously file," UCLA has matched rival USC by offering a scholarship to an eighth grader, even though such a scholarship offer is utterly meaningless.
Sigh.
His name is Lindell Stone, and the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder just completed his eighth-grade year at Dawson Middle School in Southlake, Texas.
For my thoughts on this, merely read this post on USC offering receiver Nathan Tilford (Upland, Calif./Upland) and substitute "UCLA" where I type "USC."
The timing on this is amusing for us without a dog in the hunt, as I do believe some of our UCLA friends have been a bit hard on some of our USC friends about Lane Kiffin offering Tilford.
