Anything to say about the violence in DC?

Yes, everyone who smashed windows and stormed the building should be prosecuted.

I also think, as I've said before, this country is headed for a divorce.

I mean...yes? Like is that a legit question?

Yes it is. I don't remember. I do remember the West Coast Governors refusing to do so as their cities were burning down. I think Trump offered. Maybe Chicago did?

California sent in the National Guard https://www.latimes.com/california/...uard-los-angeles-unrest-protests-george-floyd

And Oregon https://katu.com/news/local/oregon-...n-after-one-of-two-protests-turns-destructive

And Washington https://www.seattletimes.com/seattl...are-for-possible-civil-unrest-after-election/

So you remember wrong.

You're insane GTFO

When you cultivate an environment where this shit is allowed to happen for months, you can't be surprised when it turns around and bites you.

It's awful what happened today. But to be fair, it's been awful for 6 months now.

Fuck Trump and his remaining supporters.
Anyone who brings up other BLM and looting riots and thinks this is the same... Can simply rot in hell.

Were BLM and ANTIFA terrorists when they literally did this and worse in every us major city all summer long? It's still going on in Portland and Seattle today.

I guess shit got real once it got in Congress' face and were Trump supporters instead of Democrats

Stop. They did not do "worse"... I lived here for both of these. They are not even close. I must've missed the part where BLM occupied the US Capitol Building and forced the closure of congress.

You're right. They did take over parts of US cities and occupied them for long periods of time. They did the same thing to Federal offices and police headquarters that the protestors are doing today. They attacked and beat people senseless on the streets. People were gu ning each other down in the streets. They ripped down federal statues and memorials. Pretty bad stuff. Not as blatant or as important as today for sure, but are you surprised?

I was a bit too sarcastic and flippant in my first couple of posts. I shouldn't have been. I guess I'm just numb to it all but I can't believe you guys are shocked and outraged that this happened. It's been festering all year long. It's truly awful.

I hate to see this happen and it's not the peaceful transfer of power we should have, but yeah, when half the country gave tacit approval to Antifa and BLM to let them storm police stations, courthouses, memorials and other public facilities, to their flaunting of any rules of law or civil protest, and turned a blind eye to the violence from leftist groups this past year, what do you expect? I'm amused, but certainly not shocked by a few in here who are so upset by today but didn't have a word of criticism when it was their side doing similar all summer. It shouldn't have happened in either case, but to clutch their pearls now is disingenuous and hypocritical.

The important thing to remember is that Trump was just being a silly little goose with some of his comments and anyone should be in favor of him trying to uncover voter fraud.

All due respect, who exactly in here was supporting the Antifa stunts? From my recollection and off the top of my head, Myself/Lax/Cack/Redbar/Lion all condemned the violence.

Maybe you're right, but my recollection is that most of us on the Right were appalled at how much effort many in here on the Left put into making excuses for it, justifying it, and NOT clearly condemning it. None of it, then or today, should've happened, but those who didn't condemn it from Antifa, BLM, and the rest of the Che Pep Club probably shouldn't be too surprised at today.

Why are we arguing about which riot is better or worse? These people all suck and should be arrested immediately. This type of discourse is cable TV panel bullshit.

Anyone who is appalled by these $hitheads' actions today but weren't bothered by American cities being burned to the ground six months ago...deserve a throat punch.

Both are wrong, and neither should ever happen in our country.

If I wanted to hear boring, unintelligent comments from a teen, I'd ask my neighbor's dimwitted son about something. Buzz off until you can contribute something of intelligence, or at least don't bore me with your blather. The grownups here are having a chat.

Thank you for putting it more eloquently than I did. I can definitely be too crass.

I’m seeing that Pence was the one who ordered out the NG. If so does that mean 25th amendment type actions are being taken? Genuinely curious and appalled at the same time.

I don't remember support for violence period --- maybe there was some by persons lacking emotional balance. But GEEZ, guys! This thing here in Washington is a DIRECT challenge to the foundations of our Democracy. Presidential transition for Gawdsakes. Are any people here really thinking that THIS is the equal to urban riots in Seattle? Don't people see ANY level of difference in the attempt to wreak terror precisely on the constitutional completion of our basic democratic process?! And NO: this is not just another happening in ones personal video game life. This is a deep highly viewed strike at our stability. Does anyone think that this will NOT inspire more high level strikes? At Biden? In Georgia? In DC again when Congress is in session? What in the gawddammhe!l is all this diversionary "whattabout" crap about?

... these sorts of responses make me more worried about our future ability to get ANY dialogue done productively on ANYTHING. Damm this is depressing.
