I just watched Season 1 last week while while off the road.

Good stuff. Hopefully Season 2 is as good but I doubt my mind will allow Vaughn / Farrell / McAdams to equal Harrellson / McConaughey in a gritty, serious script.

You are the first person to ever type those words.

I've literally never spoken with or heard of a person with a different opinion, and I'm not even sure what a different opinion would be. I'm honestly perplexed by your statement.

Very excited to see if they can rebound after season 2. We need something to hold onto after GOT finally ends.

Season 2 is not as good, but I still enjoyed it. You can tell the writing was rushed, but it's still got some pretty good themes and performances.

Spoiler... it isn't as good.

Try to watch it without comparing it to Season 1, but rather letting it stand on it's own. It's good and the story is there if you stick with it, but it's not really comparable to Season 1, which is one of the best seasons of television ever.

Agreed on both counts!

Francis & Claire suck after Season 1? Come on... and Doug was Dougin'.

If you didn't like the last season, you have plenty of support but Remy Danton isn't the only good character in Season 2.

I didn't figure it'd be bad.

But if it called True Mobster, I'd have a hard time thinking Vaughn, Farrell and McAdams would be as good as DeNiro and Pacino. Woody and Stinky are pretty much perfectly cast in that show.

Hopefully Vaughn's personality adds to his character like Bateman's does in Ozark.

I can give you a partial good character in Doug, because he was Dougin'. But he was also so infuriatingly stupid in the way he dealt with certain situations that it defied credulity, which is certainly not a trait unique to him on the show. I think the show's biggest problem has been its writing, which is too bad because the concept couldn't be more up my alley.

OK, writing I won't argue with. But after Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Reagan, Clinton, Bush2 and now Trump, there have been many instances where fact is as strange as anything Hollywood could come up with.

And the writers could make Claire talk in pig latin and I wouldn't care as long as she keeps strutting around in those pencil skirts.

There is that. She has been pretty much the only reason to keep watching that show for at least two seasons now.

Season 3 is lit.

Very similar to Season 1 in terms of jumping around timelines. Similar in a lot of other ways too.

One of my theories (SPOILER):

Someone killed Hays' daughter in the 1990 timeline. They kept referring to "what Julie and Tom did" or something like that. Hays doesn't remember this due to his dementia so his son and daughter-in-law have been telling him she is in California instead of making him relive that tragedy every day. Hays' son leaves the dinner table not because he is upset about his dad's dementia, but because of his sister's death.

I was excited to see it coming on until I realized I don't have HBO anymore.

I didn't have it until last night. But with Game of Thrones approaching in April and needing to catch up on Westworld and some of their newer shows, it was time to pull the trigger.

Either get kodi, or open up that wallet my friend lol.
There's no way i could go without Sunday night premium series.
This year will definitely be worth the $ with GoT and TD on tap.
Secession, The New Pope, Westworld, and Big Little Lies were damn good too on HBO.

Sooooo much better than S2. Not the same feel to me as S1, but the the first two episodes were great, and the previews look lit. The crew changes are paying off.
The mentioned the "crooked spiral". Not sure it has anything to do with the spiral in S1, but interesting nonetheless. I think I'm going to try and watch S1 again this week before E3.

They said the “crooked spiral” is a nod to S1 but nothing more than that. The two seasons do not live in the same universe. However, they are similar.

Another SPOILER:

I am going all in early, I reckon that crazy friendly looking lady who waves at the kids from her porch whilst they ride up the street did it (well, her crazy husband did it but she was the mastermind).

Okay, you shamed me into ordering HBO. Watched the first two episodes of TD. Pretty good so far.

After E3, looks like stuff is about to get real with E4.
MA is just a great talent. Really impressed with old man character. Dorff is doing a fantastic job too.

Starting to get a S1 feel (between the Detectives). Not comparing them as actors, just the situation.
