Agree. No way he's dead.

Paul may be gay, (not that there's anything wrong with that) but his mom was a little creepy. She gave me the impression that she would bed him if she could. Maybe that's his issue. Maybe she's bedded him before?

Sure had the feeling he was drinking a lot at that bar to work up the courage.

The slow pans over the mayor's picture with GWB are really annoying.

We get it. Of course, the corrupt mayor has to be a Republican. Har de har har.

Too funny, I just popped into this thread to note the exact same thing.

There's a theory that this is based on a real life org called Bohemian Grove (see Grahambo's recent post) which makes that sort of relevant.

MacAdams is talking to her dad. Dad looks at Farrell and says "Getting a lot of bad vibes, you've had many lives". Farrel replies, "I sure don't need another one".

The best dialog of the series so far.

That shootout at the end was cool but pretty over the top. I'm thinking the mayor set it up. Anyhow, this is kind of playing out like a remake of China Town.

That episode reminded me of the episode from S1 with the long tracking shot. Basically a slow episode until an explosive finish.

True Detective does a great job making shootouts feel wild but realistic IMO. I felt like anyone could die at any moment even though the main characters were all involved.

I also loved the final shot of the 3 of them standing there.

I'm starting to dislike the scenes with Vince Vaughn and Kelly Reilly. She's easy on the eyes but not a good actress IMO. They have the same conversation every episode without any real progress.

I know he's an ND fan and I love him in lots of movies, but Vince Vaughan acting is becoming unwatchable in this.
to be sure, it could be the writing, but either way, just not buyin it.
i've tried, wanted him to be good in this but just too painful to watch him chanelling every film noir cliché from yesteryear for this one.

As my wife said last night, she's there for the clevage.

I've liked it. I think it may be more of the scenes and the way they are written. I liked when he bent over and told the guy sugar was the only way he could stomach their coffee.

So is Ani's character a part of the show just for this pending undercover hooker episode? I'm starting to tune out on any scenes that don't involve Ray.

It's getting so good. Not a big fan of the mid season fast forward, but this show has me hooked. Can't wait for next Sunday.

Opening up with CF going to work as a PI threw me off at first. He's been a crappy husband and dad, but I'm hoping he does end up putting the screws to his ex.

My wife is convinced that Vince Vaughn's wife is the "big bad." You heard it here first.

The clean cut, wide eyed look threw me as well. Couple funny scenes...

Loved the scene with RM in group therapy. "I want to have trouble handcuffing the thing" haaaa...

RM - "Isn't this a safe circle?", man - "Hell yeah it is" LMAO

VV - Well go stand in front of a tank then"

Agree, the dialogue in the last episode was very good.

I was so confused that whole episode because I incorrectly thought it was the season finale. I may have to watch again because my mind wasn't in the right place.

That being said I thought the build up to the love scene was really well done and this was VV's best episode by far. Was probably my favorite episode.

Had the same thought as the episode progressed that this might be the season finale. Glad it's not as I still have so many questions. Very good episode though.

Great episode. The rest of VV's character's plan is going to be pretty wild.

Yea, it really seems like they are going to putting in a lot with this last 90 minutes. Been happy with the way the show came together. I was a little skeptical at first but I like it. Was hoping for a little more skin from McAdams in their love scene.

I've been pretty confused the whole entire season. I felt this way about Season 1 too but after watching it a 2nd time I really caught on. The whole fast forward, after the shootout, really screwed me up.

Vince went postal last night. With the DA dead, I'm guessing the corruption cover up goes all the way to the governors office.

My confusion was confirmed during the scene last night between the three detectives where they basically rattled off the names of 6 people involved in the case and I honestly didn't know for sure who any of them were.

And are the two younger people from the movie set the orphan children? That was my impression and presumably they killed Casper?

It's hard to follow the names at times. Especially when you don't see them on the screen. I'm thinking of re-watching every episode before the finale. I still have a hunch Vince's wife ends up being a major player at the end of this.

Not sure if this is helpful but saw this posted elsewhere and thought it might help some with that confusing exchange last night with all the names.

Casper (the dead guy from the beginning), Burris (the guy who just shot Woodrugh dead at the end of the episode), and Holloway (the black guy who just met with Woodrugh and is the police chief) all took part in a diamon heist back in '92. They're all in higher positions of power, but still engaging in corruption.

Fast forward to today and they want the diamonds that Caspere still had now that he's dead. Caspere was killed because he was potentially involved with blackmailing all the important people at those sex parties.

Frank has been getting set up since the beginning and every move made by Bezzeredies, Velcoro, and Woodrugh has been watched.

My lady and I discussed doing the same thing this week. Starting this evening and re-watching up to Sunday.
