only if they only have 1 year of eligibility left. Guys that are sophomores like Little and Patterson will have to sit if they transfer.

NCAA bowl ban was only an extra year to add to the 1 year Ol' Piss self-imposed.

I thought you transferred too Haverford.

I wonder if tom brady would've used that stipulation to transfer from michigan, since he wasn't even good enough to be the starter there.

dbyfvZZ.jpg

Where does this non-sense come from? I see it repeated all the time. It's just not true.

Brady started 25 games at Michigan. He started all 13 games start to finish in 1998 and QB'ed them to a 10-3 record. Henson barely ever played as a true freshman in 1998. Going into the 1999 season Drew Henson's father was causing major problems behind the scenes and Carr was basically forced to give him a shot at the job or else he was going to lose him to the Yankees. Lloyd caved in to the pressure from Drew's father, and wound up losing him going into the 2001 season to the Yankees anyway.

Brady started all 12 games of the 1999 season, but the first 7 weeks they did a rotation. Brady would start the game, Henson would come in and they'd rotate and Carr would stick with whoever he felt was playing better. That only went on the first 7 weeks. Why? Michigan started off 5-0 doing the platoon but then they lost their next two games in really close fashion to MSU (by 3 pts) and Illinois (by 6 pts) in games that Brady clearly out-played Henson.

And who knows Michigan might've won one or both of those games and been 7-0 or 6-1 if not for the QB hot-potato games. Brady brought Michigan back from the dead in the 4th QTR and nearly pulled off the comeback in East Lansing once Carr pulled the plug on Henson for good. The following week Brady threw for I want to say 250+ yards in the 2nd half against Illinois and then like that the rotation was over. Brady was the hot hand, Carr had no choice but to stick with him.

Brady and Brady alone played QB the last 5 games of that season except for a couple gadget plays here and there where they tried to throw Henson out there and use his running ability on trick plays, and Michigan went 5-0 once the rotation ended and Brady pulled off a huge comeback win in the 4th QTR on the road against a #6 ranked Penn State team, beat Ohio State, and then played maybe the best game a Michigan QB ever played start to finish when he beat SEC champs Alabama in the Orange Bowl and over-came two 14 point deficits to come back and pull out the win in over-time.

Brady was pretty good even then brah. Carr might've seriously cost his team a shot at a national title run in 1999 with that QB hot-potato platoon. They finished 10-2 and ranked 5th the final poll and their only two losses were on the road to a Michigan State team that finished ranked 7th in final poll and to an Illinois team that finished ranked 24th in the final poll where Carr kept trying to give Henson most of the playing time in the middle of those games only for Brady to go in towards the end of them and play like Brady.

Greg Biggins is reporting that they think they can win an appeal to get him eligible for next season. Any insight on why they would believe that?

Well apparently some of the guys on the team have hired lawyers and are suing. Maybe the NCAA caves? I don't know.

the Patterson to Michigan rumors are picking up momentum. Honestly don't want. Think he's a tad bit over-hyped. Clearly has a lot of talent, but digging deep into the #'s and looking at what he's done this season against the 5 P5 opponents he's faced- his completion % is 59.8% and his td-to-into ratio is 1:1. He's at 8 TD's and 8 INT's.

People get focused too much on the stars next to someones name as a recruit. Baker Mayfield is one of the best college QB's I think I have ever seen and he was a walk-on at Texas Tech and then Oklahoma. QB and OL are the most worthless positions when it comes to star rankings.

Peters only played in about 5 games and started 3, and they didn't put a lot on his plate, but I have to say I really like what I saw from him. He played an excellent first half against maybe the #1 D in the country in Wisconsin on the road. Kinda got screwed out of a TD pass because on replay DPJ got that foot down in fractions of a second before the other one went out. Very next play Peters was scrambling and he fumbled the ball because he was carrying it in his left hand-which had a hairline fracture by the way- that hand was taped up and he wore a glove on it. Peters is a tough, smart kid. He was taking a fricken beating those 5 games he played but kept on trucking. It was only a matter of time before he took a kill shot that knocked him out. Michigan's pass protection was HORRENDOUS this year. Jimmy needs to focus on that OL transfers and OL coaches. Not QB transfers.

If the Ole Miss QB goes to Michigan you can bank on either Peters or Mcaffery transferring to. The OL is the bigger concern here. You can win a lot of games with a great D and a game manager at QB. I think it would suicide for Harbaugh frankly.

It'll be year #4 and he'll still be using plug-and-play QBs without developing one at all. At some point you have to develop a QB over 2-3 years to have sustained success in CFB.

Looking at you Brian Kelly!

Jim Harbaugh and Brian Kelly trying to develop long-term answers at QB?

Everyone's all over Harbaugh's jock, but he's basically Brian Kelly but without a national title appearance.

Or how many years can Harbaugh go without beating OSU? At least Kelly stomped USC this year. Gotta think the Michigan fan will be getting restless if no win at OSU next year

Can't beat OSU while silently trolling the M fanbase by wearing Woody Hayes' glasses.

so apparently Shea Patterson is rumored to be visiting this weekend.

An "insider" who posts over on Rivals/MGoBlog/247 under the name Umbig11 says there are 7 guys on the Ole Miss team who have contacted Michigan about potentially transferring in, and that Michigan is interested in 3 of them, maybe 4 if they can make the room. Didn't say who any of them were. Obviously one is Patterson.

Looks like this stuff has actual legs. I was skeptical as hell but it looks like it's might actually happen.

I really hope neither transfers if Patterson comes in. If it has to be one, please let it be McCaffrey. I really hope it's not Peters man. I really like his game in the little bit we have seen. Was never sold on McCaffrey as a recruit, his arm is weak sauce. And he still looks like a twig.

You are 100% correct on that OL. Aside from QB play, the OL has been the major issue on tht team. Devery Hamilton flipping to Stanford and Grant Newsome nearly losing his leg against Wisconsin last year has really screwed up that starting OL. Hamilton is the starting RT this year if he doesn't flip two days before NSD last year and Grant Newsome the starting LT if he doesn't have that gruesome leg injury. Hamilton started some games as a RS Freshman and looked pretty good for Stanford this year and last year Grant Newsome was the best OL on the team before he got injured. Having those guys would've pushed Mason Cole back to center where he belongs and Patrick Kugler and Juwann Bushell-Beatty back on the bench where they belong. Harbaugh has got to beef up the offensive tackle recruiting. Got two in this class, still needs two more.

WHAT DO QB TRANSFERS MEAN FOR PITT IN 2018?

Pittsburgh loses 2 quarterbacks to transfer in 3 days

When Pat Narduzzi talked about his quarterback depth entering spring ball last month, he referred to Ben DiNucci, Kenny Pickett and Thomas MacVittie as three players that could compete and push one another throughout Pitt’s extended 2017-18 offseason.

In the blink of an eye, that depth is gone.

On Thursday, DiNucci announced that he intends to transfer from Pitt after MacVittie had done the same earlier in the week. If Pitt had to play a game today, the depth chart at quarterback would be Pickett and walk-on junior Jake Zilinskas.

After going 5-7 this past season (21-17 total in his first three seasons), Pittsburgh signed Narduzzi for a seven year extension through 2024. Pittsburgh does not have a QB committed to their Class of 2018.

Pitt is "Grad Transfer U" at the QB position. Tom Savage, Nathan Peterman, Max Browne...they'll land someone this offseason.

Now if Pittsburgh got one of Wilton Speight/Peters/McCaffrey from Michigan, the triangle would be complete.

Has this been mentioned? Didn't see their profiles bumped, although sometimes they don't highlight after so long but CJ Sanders and Peter Moukwah are transferring.

Yeah, pretty sure both threads were bumped right after the bowl

I am probably in the minority here, and I know he's struggled early on, but I would of liked to see this happen.
