How does one rise on the heels of something?
Maybe "On the shoulders of legends, we rise to victory"? Or "From the shadow of legends, we rise to victory" (there's at least a comprehensible analogy to the sun in there).
Sounds like some underclassmen just threw a bunch of trite motivational phrases in a hat and drew them at random until he got something he liked.
They didn't make it up, committe said it was coined by the Vice President or something
John Wetzel, just the VP of the shirt committee
Green
not a big slogan guy...in fact, I tend to ignore them...
I wish they'd just standardize that part, and leave it at "God, Country, Notre Dame" on the front with some cool Graphics...."The pride and tradition of Notre Dame Football will not be left to the weak, timid, or non-committed" on the back with some cool graphics
do that each and every year, but change the graphics and color...boom, done
Love the green, love the guys on the shirt...it'll easily be one of my favorites

...
If you're on your heels you're gonna be on your butt!
In the Realtree pattern thoguhts, maybe Mossy Oak with the title being: 2013: Hunting for a Championship.
Is there any reason why we can't have some really awesome 'The Shirts'?
I mean, sure these are okay, my favorite so far being 2011's blue edition.
But with all the creativity and young minds at ND, why can't we do something just totally kickass. Like a Mitchel and Ness style. A design or graphic thats just amazing. I see graphics online of amazing art created for and about ND why can't that be put into the shirt??
Is it tradition to have boring and bland in different variations every year?
