what are everyone's thoughts on this years shirt? i know this has been discussed on othe rboards, just wanted to see what everyone on here thought about them. One of my buds i'm going to the pitt game with just ordered one, but i just don't think i can bring myself to getting one and wearing it - reminds me to much of the BC superfan shirt or scUM's or USC's colors. I read that many students/alums have also not like the shirt color. what clors do you think everyone will be wearing at the games?

I have one.

I was liking the green every year.

Navy blue or green is usually the best.

Have one, but I have it just to have it. Poor colors and the "spirit" saying on the front?!?! I was hoping to see something along the lines of NASTY which is the attitude that CW is trying to instill in the heads of our guys. I always liked the unity of the student section wearing all green. I do not know if all of the students are on board with the yellow shirt and I will be curious to see what the stusents do wear on game day.

I hated the green brought up bad memories of Ty and the BC game, i think dark Navy is the best, the gold/yellow may grow on me though; the worst shirt might be the one i cant recall what year it was off the top of my head but the year they were cream or whatever color it was supposed to be, somewhere around '97 maybe?

Wasn't his first year the first green shirt? I think they had them before the BC game.

Pat Dillingham's brilliant interception that game brings up bad memories for me.

I actually like the shirt. While I don't particularly care for the color, the graphic is nice and got me pumped.

Green shirts are fine though, they weren't the cause of that loss. It was so damn shelley green jerseys....I hope someone told Weis to never EVER use them...

To be honest with you, I love the green jerseys. The fact that we lost to BC while wearing them definitely left a bad taste in my mouth, but when they came out that day I was pumped. There is definitely a time and place that the green jersey should come out again. I have faith that Weis will unveil them at the appropriate time.

Pick a f*cking color and stick to it. ND stadium looks like a bunch of people randomly picked off the street as it is.

Don't they have a contest for blue gold game ticket design? A lot of good entries would be thrown in if they had a contest for "The Shirt". STICK WITH A COLOR..... at the very least stick with school colors. I would prefer neon green over royal blue.

What a retro thread!

The shirt is far from perfect, or even great this year. But I find it interesting. Any time they have a lighter or brighter blue than navy, the boos come in the strongest crescendo.

Seriously. Was it '11 or '12 that the 'Madonna blue' shirts with the gothic lettering came out? Booed off the board, and as I remember general sales lagged pretty badly that year.

I don't remember anywhere near the displeasure voiced for that almost gold abortion presented in '09! Rise and Strike wasn't it.

This year I like the long sleeve option. I don't mind the blue. The plain ND logo on the front is okay. The only real problem I have is with the logo on the back. I have to decide I may be too embarrassed to wear a shirt that actually says 'Rise Above Ourselves!'

I mean if that isn't worthy of an SEC school, I don't know what is. It sure doesn't belie the sophistication and elegance that is imbued in the ND image!

'Rise Above Ourselves' == what a physical or figurative impossibility! Reminds me of one of those cartoon characters with the long rubbery legs that reaches it around to plant it on his own head. to gain leverage to climb up in thin air!

Rise Above It All = Okay. Rise Above Our Best = Pretty Damned good! But any time you use ourselves in a slogan, you risk being identified with a cartoon clown.

Just my opinion. I think the shirt would be pretty good with one word removed. Even just plane 'Rise Above' is good enough.

2011.

Sales didn't lag, it's the highest selling shirt to date.

Front design is good, back design is gaudy (but they almost always are). Biggest issue is that you have clashing colors of blue between the text and the shirt background... that looks terrible. Really clashes.

Can't we get some junior grade person from Under Armour to help with this shit? And maybe put it on some loose gear instead of whatever material they use (seems to change year to year, always sucks)?

Do. Not. Like.

Will buy anyway...

This. Although I don't always like the design (sometimes I don't even wear it once) The Shirt is a charitable thing, and I will support it:

Half of the proceeds from The Shirt go to The Shirt Charity, which helps students afford unexpected medical expenses. Remaining revenue is used to fund student clubs, organizations, and The Rector Fund, which allows all students to have the full Notre Dame experience regardless of their financial situation.
