Made the mistake of browsing the FB comments since ND's FB released the '19 and '20 schedules.

People genuinely love playing the toughest schedule possible. Which would be fine if these same people weren't the ones wanting BK fired after ND goes 7-5 and loses 3 out of 4 in November.

People honestly think ND is "stooping to Alabama's level" by scheduling teams like Western Michigan and Bowling Green. They want top teams across the board. See above point.

Serious question: If ND scheduled slightly easier and started winning 10, 11, or even 12 games per year and was a perennial playoff contender (and maybe even won a championship), would these "fans" be complaining about our SOS?

That list was made in fun.

BUT...... when it was posted and I looked at it again and realized, minus Bama and tOSU that is our annual freaking schedule.

"There's some other conferences that have it built in, and they do it for a reason, and it works out well for them. That's really an institutional decision, and we're going to have to sit down, we're going to have to look at it hard. We thought the 13th [data] point was really important, right? But that doesn't seem to be that important anymore.

Asked if a different approach to scheduling could upset Notre Dame fans, Kelly replied, "I know this: They're mad because we didn't make the playoffs. So if you win 'em all, they can't be mad at you. We've got to play our five ACC schools, so you can't have everything."

Sounds like BK has a handle on this...Hope his thoughts make it "upstairs". I think there is room to get the Brand thing in there, but still set yourself up for a playoff run

1. I'm glad they're talking about this. It's been obvious for a long time the scheduling is nonsensical and prohibitive to winning. Winning is the most important thing NOT playing "marquee" games every week.

2. I don't think Swarbrick gets it. This is obvious given his recent move of the Syracuse game to Yankee stadium, putting Michigan back on the schedule, etc. he has signed up for way too many "elite" home-and-homes for a schedule that also features USC/Stanford/elite ACC team every year.

3. This is all going to be too little too late... the time to realize this was a few years ago. By the time we can fix the schedule we'll likely be full time in the ACC and this entire staff/administration will be gone.

According to Sagarin ND had the 2nd toughest schedule.

Seven of ND's games were against Sagarin's Top 30 Teams. Only Clemson and Boston College played as many Top 30 Opponents. ND won 4, Clemson won all 7, BC won 2.

Only two teams had more Top 30 wins than ND's 4, Clemson's 7, and OU's 5. OSU matched ND's 4 wins.

ND needs a break in November, perhaps two. Unlike the SEC ND doesn't have to schedule an FCS or phony FBS opponents.

If that is the case, then why did they schedule Miami of Ohio this year, Ball State next year, and New Mexico and Bowling Green in 2019? I get that none of those games are schedule past early October but why would that matter scheduling the game in November? I remember back in 2009 they schedule UConn for their final home game and they were in their second full season of Div 1-A football and we still lost to them.

Like Lax said in #3, by the time ND could get out of all these dumb contract games, they'll be in the ACC or some super-conference when Texas implodes the Big 12.

They are locked in to Stanford until 2024. ND might be the 3 time defending ACC-North champion by then... even if Penn St joins with them.

Yea, me too. Seems like the teams that traditionally win 10 games a year don't have a hard time filling the stadium. I can see, with scheduling right...BK's teams consistently winning 10 a year...everyone wants to see that. In 4-10 years...so what if the stadium isn't full. Kinda reminds the players and coaches to stop sucking...been there...you notice.

No way. First of all the point of this change would be to try and make sure we don't end up having an implosion of a year. Secondly with the new price flexing those lower priced non marquee games are going to start being sold out before the season starts. Before if everything was equal are you going to spend your money on Miami of Ohio when you could see Stanford for the same price? Now though if you're buying 4 tickets Miami at $75 per is much more appealing than Stanford at $125 per. Lastly the streak is something they could just fudge to keep going if they cared that much anyways.

Two of college football’s most storied programs will once again renew their historic series.

Army and Notre Dame have agreed to meet in November 2024, according to a source.

The schools have yet to agree on a site for the game. Yankee Stadium is the potential front runner to host the 52nd meeting between Army and Notre Dame.

The 2024 game would mark 100 years since Army and the Fighting Irish played at the Polo Grounds in New York. The schools played on an annual basis from 1913 to 1947 with the exception of the 1918 postponement due to World War I.

Army and Notre Dame have met three times since the millennium including a 27-3 Irish win in 2010 at Yankee Stadiumin Brian Kelly’s first season. Notre Dame has won 14 straight games in the series – the most recent a 44-6 victory in 2016 at the AlamoDome in San Antonio.

Army’s last win over Notre Dame came in its last undefeated season of 1958.

Either Army or Notre Dame have been ranked in 18 of their last 22 matchups.
