Ha, great story.

Incidentally, did a bunch of stuff get purged from here recently?

The son, 30, got married the 14th of July. Most of my family (from NY, MI, WA, SC, FL, and CA) made it to the show in Minneapolis.

A good time was had by all.

Wasn't sure what thread to put this in, Hobby, this one, if it goes elsewhere more I'll move it:

Side of our backyard by the garage is all dirt and in the past we have done lil gardens out there... This year we planted corn and pumpkins and my youngest helped me plant everything. We've had a blast with it. I have about a dozen confirmed pumpkins (largest many about the size of a small bowling ball) at least the size of a softball and I assume many more I can't get to in there... it's taken off like wildfire in the past few weeks.

3 year old daughter is carrying a pile of stuffed animals, drops one.

6 year old daughter yells at her "PLAY CLEAN!"

Wife looks at me. I shrug. "She dropped it, didn't she?"

Yeah, we're working on cleaning up after ourselves in this household...
I'm hoping after 36 years I finally learn how to
But seriously, my kids destroy everything. I'm not a neat freak, I tend to be fairly clean, but my wife is the kind that will leave her shoes in the middle of the room. I'm not sure how I'm gonna break the little ones of this habit.

That clip could've come from my house. Sugar & spice my ass. Girls are pigs most of the time. When my two oldest daughters were still in their mid-teens their bathroom was ALWAYS a disaster with panties soaking in the sink and dirty clothes EVERYWHERE. I finally took a couple of pairs of my old boxers that were ready for the trash and put them in their bathroom sink and covered them with mustard & ketchup. That led to, "NOT funny, Dad!" Oh yes it was.

"Mom, can I get a TV in my room since football and soccer are starting again?"

(Gives me 7 year old girl glare)

I have pink toenails. Bright pink. My 7-year-old talked me into painting her nails then begged to paint mine. No. No again. Seriously, no. I finally caved. My wife dared me to wear sandals. I'm not that brave. I do feel pretty, though. I asked her if she knew why I'd let her paint my nails and she said, "Because you're a good dad." Worth every bit of it for that.

My three year old's favorite teams are the Eagles and the Bogaerts.

Me: "Gracie, do you want to watch the Red Sox with daddy?"
Her: "No, I HATE the Red Sox. Go Bogaaaaaahts!"

First say of preschool today. I'm convinced one of the primary reasons people have lots of kids is to dilute the sadness when each one of them hits a life milestone.

I get bummed out every morning when I drop my kid off at daycare, and he's just like a 5-minute walk across campus if I want to see him.

He'll give me a hug and say "bye daddy," but then he gives me just the saddest eyes through the window once I'm out the door.

Not sure if he really likes me that much, or if he's manipulating me.

The kid wants ice cream, but you're alright too

This is true. Although the sting isn't gone on the first day, it certainly subsides the more you have to do it.

By the time they are in middle school you won't even put the car in park as you roll through carpool - tuck and roll, you better not have forgot your lunch!

Youngest daughter got married 7 weeks ago. Oldest daughter graduated university in May of this year with a B.Sc in Biology. Where does the time go?

Oldest is back to U to take a few non-science courses to boost her GPA. Has feelers out and responses back from a few schools she has contacted.. University of Boston, Syracuse and University of New Haven. She is convinced she wants to pursue a career in forensics and is trilingual.

Have a niece that recently graduated from Yale. She loved the experience but was not so high on the New Haven experience... which really surprised me.

Any additional info on Syracuse v University of Boston as it pertains to experience would be greatly appreciated. Looks like Dad is going to have to open up the wallet big time... again.

Cheers and Go Irish!!

Edit - When I wrote "not so high" in regard to Yale, it was not a slight against Yale but rather a reflection/observation on the area in general. I have never been there but apparently, the socio-economic situation is quite unexpected given the prestige of the school. If that makes sense. Thanks!

IrishLion Cub #2 made her arrival earlier today... baby and momma are healthy and doing well.

Now she gets to watch her first football game with daddy tomorrow while mom gets an early afternoon nap.

Your wife went into labor on game day and you still went to the hospital with her?

Best wishes to you all today!

Real talk, I hate the whole “be in the delivery room” thought process... let me sit in the waiting room with family and see the finished product as God intended.

The good maternity wards don't even have "delivery rooms" these days. We had a whole private birthing suite. It was basically a hotel room with medical devices in it. I had my own bed, private bathroom with shower, etc. Labor, delivery, and recovery were all in the same room.

We had our second kid just so I could get a few more nights of my dinner order. Burger with cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Mashed potatoes and gravy. Green beans. Brownie. Iced tea.
