Unreal story. Denbrock pulled a quasi-Diaco on our most important recruit. And we didn't even know it.

Step your game up, Cooks.

Just how close were we to losing Tee as well?

Just how close were we to losing Tee as well?

We apparently came WAY closer to losing Tee than most realize:

247: Shepard's Close Call

Short of the long - believe it or not, Deontay still may have done more good than bad for this class. According to the article, Tee and his father were at a lunch with the senior Kiffin, about ready to commit to USC because of what they could offer in regards to his hearing impairment. Deontay tipped Denbrock (who was in Fresno visiting Deontay) off on Tee's whereabouts. As Tee's current enrollment suggests, Denbrock was able to save the day.

PS. Greenberry saved our asses. No idea what exactly happened on that visit to Houston, the more I look at this decision, the more I get it. 3 years at Houston starting and destroying Conference USA in an air raid offense => NFL. It's a football first decision. After reading this article, I officially wish him well because he was clearly not playing us. He just changed his mind at the end.

Irish2015 told me this story a couple weeks ago, but he kept it quiet. Pretty funny story though, incredibly scary. Can you imagine this class without tee?

The board would've been a full meltdown for sure.

Crazy story. Crazy stories in recruiting probably happen far more frequently than we hear about them.

The summary is that Denbrock showed up at a restaurant where Monte was for sure about to flip Tee (a whopping 3 days before he got on a plane to South Bend), broke up the meeting, and got Tee to stay on board by saying "trust me."

There is no Cooks part of the story. He just seems to be the only coach not busting his balls on the recruiting trail. And it cost us Darby.

Had Tee flipped to that piece of ****, scumbag Kiffen would Deontay have signed with us? He wouldn't have been in Tee's shadow...

Interesting to think about.

Name ONE other UofH WR that has done what you have just summerized in your post....

Something stinks about that flip. And that's all I'll say. But I'll find out, as I'm in the social pipeline with some very good friends that are either at UofH or still attending.|

And they're moving to the Big East.

Unbelievable. And to think that when Deontay flipped I blamed Denbrock, assuming that he, like Cooks, had failed to check in often enough. Turns out he is a hero.

Great story, the basis for this story is true, but they mixed up some key details. Bottom line is we were never as close to losing tee as this story made it seem.

Name one Houston WR who was a 5:s:.... or even a 4:s:.....

It's not hard to sell a football first kid on "You start day 1 and catch 120 passes a season because even scrubs light it up in this offense. And then you're off to the pros."

It's easy. You just got to your account and click cancel subscription. Not billed a dime.

Problem with that is that there is no "cancel subscription" option available.

You're right; I thought "change" would allow you to do it. Here you go (although you probably already read this):

"E-mail customer support at support@247sports.com and provide your name, user name and e-mail address associated with the account. If you want to avoid a subscription renewal, you must cancel 72 hours prior to the end of the then current subscription period. If you sign up for a free trial or take advantage of an extended free trial, you must cancel 24 hours prior to the end of your free trial to avoid automatic charges associated with beginning your subscription. 247Sports customer support is staffed between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM (CT) Monday – Friday."

Nice find! I did email support. Didn't provide the info though.

EDIT: Now I have. Gracias Lax.

Care to elaborate?

I'm curious and have been hearing something about this but not any specifics. What exactly did Cooks do or not do?

It's just the excuse used by Darby. I think he was always looking for a reason to leave.

He said he wasn't "woo'ed" enough by the staff.

People attribute that to Cooks dropping the ball. No one really has any idea what happened with it though.

This. How can you believe a word a person says, when they say they are going to FSU to better themselves. LOL. That's an oxymoron in and of itself.

Donnie Avery. #33 pick in the draft a few years ago.

Donny was a good recruit for Houston, but he was no where near Greenberry. Donny was a three star WR, ranked #91 receiver in the country by scout. Greenberry was the 7th best receiver and a five star.

Apples and Oranges
