Interesting.

Sheer's a cross between Sampson and Loy for Zona's 247 but with a Driskell attitude.

I'm 100% sure there's "an internal belief" that will happen.

I'm also nearly 100% sure it won't.

Curious how joining the Big 12 would bring enough money to Clemson and Florida State to be worth the cost of the penalties to leave the SEC.

You'll be laughing out the other side of your mouth when ND shows up with 35 2-star WRs in fall 2025.

I was wondering if it is good news since it would now allow the cream to really be just at the very top, but then I quickly realized in an age of NIL and the TP, that only so many top players will hang around at one school for very long since they will be looking for playing time and opportunity if they're crowded out of starting roster. Hopefully, it's more about ND having more flexibility to fill up and sort out later. But boy does this point to Colorado and USC type mass movements of players - It will be dizzying

Yup, this could really hurt sports like wrestling.
Exactly, unless you have boosters to make up the difference, it's going to potentially cripple all Olympic sports if you're talking about diverting ~$3M more to football + some women's equivalency at Notre Dame and ~$1-2M at state schools.

If it goes from 85-105 does ND start adding 3*’s that Stanford/NW/Duke/Vandy get that we typically target in the portal when they grad transfer?

This is good news, but they still need to can Title IX.
I'm a little selfish with this myself since I have twin 15 year old soccer boys who are talented enough but might not get scholarships for college soccer due to Title IX

I'd be curious how much it would hurt wrestling?
I believe the new net amount of scholarships from all the new additions was +22.3 for mens sports. That means either 22.3 more female scholarships need to be added, or 22.3 men scholarships need to be reduced. Thus the reason for my comment. Especially since Title ix was a big excuse why so many D1 wrestling programs were cut in the 80s and 90s.

All of the Title IX stuff is confusing to me. Your post makes sense. I know there are multiple ways of complying with Title IX, my alma mater uses an annual survey for compliance I think. Like 67% of our scholarships go to men, because female students don't express interest in starting new varsity programs.

But if Title IX disappeared, then there is no need for any balance other than determined by the NCAA (made up of schools themselves) and whatever a school self-imposes, I think some schools carry many more sports/scholarships than are required. I think/hope wrestling would be safe, it may be a niche sport but it has a dedicated community and I don't think its particularly expensive.

If this happens it could get weird. 100+ players? I could see these 5 stars and kids that want to start right away steering clear of some of the traditional powers. I could see ND signing all the 3 star brains. I could see chaos on signing days… which I think would trigger early singing days or eliminating singing days and letting kids just sign in high school getting rid of this verbal garbage.
