“@GSwaim: #Big12 fans worried who'll be 4th addition if #ND, #FSU & #CardNation join. Just about every #ACC school will want that last spot.”

- I would prefer Clemson, Virginia Tech, or Virginia

- I know someone will ask but no I don't really know who this Greg Swaim guy is but I have been following since his tweets bout ND ( Pg. 20) and has been right about it all

Is this a plug for your group or is Zabroski your source? Zabroski may come off as an "insider" but he knows nothing more than anyone else

It was the first place that I saw it. It's also on Bang Bang.

Yeah, I dont think we move.
We basically have our spot in the big 12 waiting for us, our olympic sports are safe, and lets not forget the academic side of things and who really makes the decision- Fr. Jenkins.
I just don't see him joining the Big 12, it honestly wouldn't be far off from Yale joining the Big East academic-fit-wise.

Yea Slu UVA will be good at football in the future. Probably like a consistent 8-4 team or maybe better. I have a lot of Faith in Mike London.

Grubl quoted a Turning Point tweet or something, everyone (of course) is swallowing it like gospel.

Virginia and Va Tech aren't leaving conferences without eachother.

Kinda like Mizzou wouldn't leave the conference without Kansas? If it makes sense for UVA to leave for monetary reason's, they will, simple as that. The only reason I could see it being Va Tech leaving and not UVA is that the Wahoos like the ACC for lacrosse. Not sure how that would pan out, but I could see it possibly being a deciding factor as it's one of the main sports on UVA's campus.

I agree with KanyeWest, I don't believe UVA and Va Tech would leave separately.

Virginia went to the mat to get Va Tech in the ACC. Tech hasn't forgotten that.

You're probably looking at Clemson or Georgia Tech or BYU as the additional team IF ND joins as a full member eventually.

The bottom line is that unless we are going to schedule multiple cupcakes from the Big 12 (which lets be serious... with that collection of teams it seems downright implausible) then we need to start looking into dropping some rivalry games. Otherwise the schedule will be impossible. Keep USC, keep Navy... then 2 of the next 4 games need to be cupcakes a la Temple and Army... or if not cupcakes, at least BC/Purdue level teams.

The idea of playing Texas, OU, FSU, TCU, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, USC, Stanford, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and Navy as a schedule is borderline psychotic.

Hate to repeat myself, but...

I still honestly just don't see what's in it for us if we move to the Big 12 and therefore I'm struggling to understand why we would do it?

(1) The Big East is on its death bed, so we need to find a major stable conference for our Olympic sports; and (2) reserving a spot in a major conference ensures access to the CFB post-season for us.

I would assume we would also be part of their bowl schedule which I think is a good one.

From Big 12 sports:

Again this season, the Big 12 has eight bowl slots guaranteed. The Conference is partnered with nine bowls. However the arrangement with the Gator Bowl is for it to select a Big 12 team twice over a four-year period. In the two years in which the Gator does not select a Big 12 team, the Sun Bowl will.

Following is the selection order:

BCS
Cotton
Holiday
Gator (when it selects a Big 12 team)
Alamo
Sun (when the Gator does not take a Big 12 team)
Insight
Independence
Texas

Am I missing something? Due to regional convenience, Notre Dame will probably be grouped with Iowa St and Kansas. Unless I missed something regarding a completely different divisional alignment consisting of balancing the power as equally as possible or the bottom feeders being kicked out of the conference. Otherwise ISU and KU added with Purdue and Navy should be 4 manageable opponents each year.

This Greg Swaim guy is saying we would play 3 of our rivals out of conference one year, and then three the next. If this is right, this seems like the rivals would be separated USC-MSU-Purdue, Stanford-Mich-Navy. Plus, who knows if this new Big-12 would have an 8 or 9 game schedule. I agree LAX, the schedule with the Big-12 would be very tough to say the least.

Well... considering there are no divisions in the Big 12 and there is no telling if they will ever bring them back/how teams will be grouped/Notre Dame's future schedule... you certainly didn't miss anything. What does your hypothetical schedule look like?

“@GSwaim: #VT will jump the #ACC ship later, but if they do it could be with #UVa and may be to the #B1G. #Rutgers, #GT, #UMD also B10 considerations.”

It would be a safe bet that they would bring back divisions at least with 12-14 teams right? I would think they would try to create balanced divisions. I wouldn't think we would be in the same division as Texas and Oklahoma, it would be one or the other.

So how do you guys think we match up in conference basketball wise? I think they could fit in rather well but may take a little time to adjust. Think it would be fun to watch us play Kansas every year!

I will be very angry if that happens. Do we need to hold on to our rivals who aren't USC and Navy? This makes the schedule way too hard every year and we don't get USC and Navy every year. That would be a terrible idea.

In my opinion the BE is a better bball conference, so I would think we would have a shot at winning the B12 more so than the BE. I would be pumped to see ND/Kansas.
I just want to see us get the sweet 16 sometime before I die.
