Apologies if I'm putting this in the wrong spot. I'm just looking for some advice regarding the new stadium.

My dad, a lifelong Irish fan, is in the late stages of MS. He also shattered his femur a few months ago, which makes walking even more difficult. My brother and I are going to be flying in to surprise him with a trip to the USC game. He's never been to South Bend and this is likely the last year he'll be able to avoid a wheelchair entirely. On good days he can slowly make it around with a cane, but usually he uses a walker.

I haven't been to the stadium since the BYU game in 2012. Does anyone have any advice regarding handicap accessibility? Or advice in general as to how to make this as pleasant as possible given his limitations?

BTW, checking this website has been part of my daily routine for at least a decade. Thanks so much to all of the contributors. Y'all make me feel close to ND even when I'm toughing it out during a hard winter up north.

ND Stadium is one of the top rated ADA stadiums. I have no personal experience with there ADA program. There is an elevator available but I don't know if you need credentials (pass) to use it. I believe wheelchair sitting accommodates only one companion. Seeing as you're going to the USC game I'd contact the ticket office today while await more knowledgeable responses.

Enjoy the game.

Notre Dame Ticket Office at 574-631-7356.

I'd hate to be sitting right under that giant Cell panel.

Radiation and Radio Waves just shooting right through that body!

I'm glad I was able to get our season seats moved to section 1, we were in section 16 last year, just to the right of the new video board.
Those people on the south side of the stadium are going to need to bring ear plugs.

Why? Did the video board come with built in speakers? They may get a suntan but I would expect the sound to be piped in around the entire stadium?

Speakers are on the sides of the video board.
Puls, I didn't want to have to turn around and look at the board. Section1 seats are just above the tunnel so the board is in line of sight.

Or just turn their hearing aids off

As much as I don't want to say this, it was needed. Pleased with how they did it, still keeps a feel of the past as well as bringing it up to date.

I think it's a good improvement. There doesn't seem to be a big open gathering space for them too meet at for speeches and prayer. Wonder what they'll do?

Probably in the long hallway that runs the length of the facility. It's a lot bigger space than the Tunnel that has been used for speeches.

The coach will stand under the ND monogram on the ceiling with Rockne at his back.

New graphics will allow Kelly to Shake Down The Thunder from the ND monogram above while lightening bolts (courtesy of the Van der Graff in the ceiling) emanate from his eyes in a purple rage.

I understand it's a much more passionate environment than existed for a Willingham "Molder of Men" speech, a Davie (inaudible) speech, or a Faust "Do we have a bomb play?" incantation.

But then again, perhaps it's more about the speaker than the environment.

I'm a fan. I've always been a sucker for ND themed stuff against white brick though.

The big thing I'll be looking for when I'm at the Temple game is the crowd noise, the new speakers, and the jumbotron.

-Can the addition of the much larger press boxes and the video board do a better job at bottling up crowd noise?

-I hope the new speakers have a good amount of bass. Play some good 3rd down music this year, please.

-Per the ND football Instagram page, the players were on the field yesterday and, what looks like, got a preview of pump up video. Could the video be used to get the fans going before they take the field? If I was in charge of that stuff, I would do a "live feed" and show the players going down the stairs and hitting the signs.

I think Clemson did that against ND (may always do it) showing them get off the buses and walk up to the hill they run down.
