First I've seen of the Video Board being defined.

I looked up the dimensions and it is closest to Minnesota's board.

ON that note: boy do I miss the old nachos Angel Stadium used to have when Gene Autry still owned the them... for a couple bucks they'd give you a huge plate of chips... you'd then go around the concession stands and just load up and all the cheese, jalapenos, onions, and whatever else you want at your own desire. Now Nachos cost 7 bucks and it's a little plastic bag of stale ass chips you poor into a tiny bowl and it comes with a cup of cheese that is never enough, if you want another cup or jalapeno, it's an extra charge and they give you a little bag with like five jalapenos for another buck fifty...

sigh, I'm getting old.

That's one thing I can't complain about with the Reds. The prices are pretty high (as they are everywhere), but you aren't disappointed with the portions. Most of the vendors at Great American Ball Park with nachos layer the chips, cheese, salsa and jalepenos in a plastic batting helmet. They truly load you up.

GABP also has an all-you-can-eat section that's like $25, which isn't bad for a ballpark, but it's only for the first 3k fans or something like that.

There are also several $1 stands in the park, where you can get soft drinks, hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn and candy for $1 each. I don't think there's a limit. I went with my wife's family one time (6 of us), and her mom took a re-usable grocery bag to the dollar stand. She waited in line for the first three innings of the game, but she came back with 12 hotdogs, 12 bags of peanuts, some popcorn, and two trays of drinks. Not a bad deal if you've got a member of the group willing to wait in line and load up.

The first thing you see in Angel Stadium when you enter from the right field entrance is a Carl's Jr. stand... there is literally a Carl's Jr. right down the street from the Stadium with normal fast food burger prices, but if you want that burger inside the ball park, be ready to pay double... it's crazy.

For some reason it never occurs to me to eat at a football game. It's just not something I do. At a Fenway, I walk to my seat with an Italian sausage (with onions and peppers), peanuts, fries, and a Sam Adams. But at a football game my wife usually gets a soft pretzel at halftime and that's it.

What's my point? Idk.

ETA: Also, the first thing you see in Angel Stadium when you enter from the right field entrance is a shit ton of empty seats.

Same here. I always eat at baseball games, but only drink big cups of Diet Coke, spiked with the whiskey shooters I smuggle in, when attending ND football games. I think things happen to fast in football. Baseball is a slow game, very complimentary to eating/drinking.

I think the tailgating before football games limits food concessions for those who indulge in the pregame ritual.

Yeah it's def a baseball thing (although football can be just as slow/stop and go as any other sport imo) ... I get that, although the food at UCLA games is pretty boss hog as sports food goes, they have fairly good Carne Asada taco vendors in the Rose Bowl.

This is one thing Arte brought back to the big A, major tailgating... for a baseball team the Angels have pretty good tailgating now... (Disney completely outlawed it when they owned the team)... but there is only so much you can cook and eat in the parking lot unless it's a weekend game

I always get a hotdog at some point during an ND game, as for some reason their hotdogs are delicious to me. It's usually during halftime, unless my wife makes a food run for herself during the game. Otherwise, I don't eat at football games I attend either.

Sidenote: one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten was at an ND game. My wife went down and came back with a personal, Home Run Inn pizza for herself. I don't know if I was just extremely hungry and cold, and I mentally responded positively to the hot pizza, or if the pizza was truly that good, but I took a piece from her, and it was one of the tastiest things I've ever had in my life.

I now buy Home Run Inn frozen pizzas whenever I grab a pizza at the store.

I don't think they are doing it so they can keep the other games flat. I think they are trying to squeeze every dollar they can, which is fine. I just think they need to look at this both in the short run and the long run. There is an argument to be made that they could be hurting themselves in the long run. How many people are going to want to load up the car/minivan and haul a family of four to south bend to watch Duke and spend $500-$1,000 doing it?

Cjqdpk5WgAwTHGx.jpg

On the other hand, judging by the number of tickets that are listed on secondary markets like stubhub...it's not like each and every ticket is so coveted that they could not possibly consider selling rather than going.

I think another part in the ticket price increase is to weed out some of the secondary market sales but preventing marginal fans from purchasing in the first place. Why should they make the money rather than ND?

I normally attend a freezing cold rainy game, so I put my smuggled whiskey in hot chocolate.

I bring a flask. Don't be bitches.

There was this older Hispanic gentleman sitting right behind us at the Sun Bowl the year ND smashed Miami... you'll all remember it was FREEZING that game... I don't think I personally have ever experienced cold like that (I'm sure it was hot fun in the summer time for you crazy mid westerners...)

This gentleman snuck in two flasks of whiskey and was letting everyone around us hit it to help stay warm... he was a hero among men that day I assure you.

A buddy and I snuck in a handle of whiskey into Bankers Life Fieldhouse for the womens bball championship in 2011. Hid it away in the front of my friend's pants.

Security caught us and let us keep it anyway. That guy was a hero.

They were probably just happy to have some fans there.

So, you were taking shots from inside a dudes pants. Definitely not surprised. (Assuming your 'friend' was a guy.)

Really disappointed in these new prices. It's hard now to take my two boys, and at some point my wife and daughter will be coming. It'll cost a fortune.

generally at baseball games there are more people in the concourse than in their seats.

You forgot to mention that all 34,974 of those Boston 'fans' are complete pretentious douches, most of whom never watched sports at all until Brady and Papi, two known cheaters, starting winning hardware, now they go around lecturing everyone else on what shitty sports fans they are....

I'll add tho, just for kicks...

Historically since 1980...

1980-89 Ballpark Attendance Figures, Ballparks of Baseball

Angels right at the top of the league for the decade, well before they won a World Series and one of the few teams competing with them? The Dodgers, another,' shitty west coast fan base'...

1990-99 Ballpark Attendance Figures, Ballparks of Baseball

During the 90s when both teams never sniffed a World Series and the Angels were consistently average at best... Both in the top third in the league...

2000-2009 Ballpark Attendance Figures, Ballparks of Baseball

In the 2000s... Side by side at the top... 'Shitty fans'...

Why are you talking about baseball? Isn't there a thread to sequester that in?

lacrosse is slowly but surely taking over baseball across the US.

up here in the Northeast I would say its 60-40 lax over baseball in the pony thru majors little league age groups.

not just boys, girls lax spreading like wildfire as well.

kids just not "wired" for bball anymore, they need the action. will try to find an article I read on WHY lacrosse is crushing baseball with todays youth. very interesting stuff.

I'm also of those bastards.... every year when the new NCAA came out, I'd change ND's base playbook to I formation or some such, because "power running"... I imagine when the next game comes back in ~2017 I'll still do the same........

Is this happening or are you just getting my hopes up in order to smash them down.
