Are you kidding??? That dog has the eyes of a demented crack addict. It will steal your wallet and eat your freshly grilled steak given the chance.

Does Kiel have a legitimate shot at winning the QB race? From the start, I never thought he did. I'm surprised that he's still in this competition (why not just make the decision to redshirt him now and get more reps for the other three- though it's not like Kiel is getting that many i.e. in scrimmages), just thinking out loud...

So far, the local weather forecast is rain on Friday, clearing before game day. Saturday should be partly cloudy with highs in the 50's. Sounds like football weather to me. Hope to see you there.

Kiel is already basically just getting 2nd team reps if im not mistaken, plus summer can make a difference, not saying hell win but its a good motivator.

Some final spring BK presser notes:

Players:
- Davaris has been elevated to the "will help us win games group". Really stepped up this week
- Daniel Smith has taken a step forward in toughness, fighting through injuries
- Alex Welch is "really coming on" this spring
- BK very pleased with the 3 man rotation at safety. "We can go play right now and feel really good at that"
- Still a battle between Lo and Josh at CB
- Great depth on the DL
- Ishaq has really impressed BK with his sense of urgency this spring. "He has been a guy that's really caught my eye (GREAT NEWS IMO)
- BK likes the effort of Grace and sees him getting reps at ILB. States he could play Will, but will stick behind Manti for now.
- Slaughter needs to be ready at corner if necessary
- Replied "I don't worry about Lou" when asked if Nix is all in at ND. "I see a guy who is upbeat, and he's funny". Doesn't get a sense that he is homesick. "I'd probably like him to stay away from social media, but that's his own doing". "If he is going through anything, it's just a matter of life at Notre Dame".
- Dog linebacker job still up for grabs. Councell and Spond battling.
- "Really, really pleased" with Braxton Cave's recovery. Could play him but they don't need to.

Misc:
- ND is headed for a "1 strike" policy for players saying the wrong thing on social media
- Calls it "Ridiculous" for fans to attack Aaron Lynch online. "I just don't understand that.
- All of ND's walkons will travel with the team to Ireland. (Love this)

QBs:
- Feels really good about where the QBs are after the spring, especially turnover wise.
- States Rees is a "better athlete than people give him credit for"
- Golson has worked hard on little things this spring
- Hendrix needs to take command of the offense
- Voluntary workouts will be a big factor in who starts at QB
- Decision won't come until August, needs summer practices to make final choice
- No special packages for QBs. All 4 are running the same offense.

Spring Game:
- Spring game will be Offense v. Defense, not so much Blue team v. Gold team
- Defense will earn points with stops and turnovers
- No live special teams
- QBs will all be live
- Justin Tuck will be the honored guest and be present for the coin flip
- Tommy will be the 1st QB on the field. "We will roll them out by seniority".
- All 4 QBs will play with and against all units.

Going to have to "Rep" Ironman8 on this post. He got copied and credited over on DD. Started a whole new thread. Congrats, you're definitively "Legend"!

Kelly said they all will get first and second team reps.

Offensively, looking for an aggressively called game for all the QBs. I want to see some down field passing against man coverage.

Defensively, I want to see how the linebackers play in space...how they handling crossing routes.

Disappointed that there is no live special teams...punt returning?

Our punt returner is still finishing his senior year in high school in AZ. No need to waste the reps.

Yea for the BG game but in spring practices and live scrimmage Kiel has been the last to receive reps already, so no real reason to cut him off from the competition.

That has not been the case the entire time, and even when he has been coming in 4th in the rotation, it is still often with the first team. From what I have been seeing/reading is that all four QB's are getting a good amount of first team reps.

Gotta have a contingency plan.

I think GAIII would be an interesting option punt returning. He has the size to shake the initial tackler and the speed to run away from coverage.

Putting a freshman back on Punt return is dangerous. Much more air under the ball. I do think III is the better option here because he has a year under his belt. Nothing against Neal, he has all the talent the real question does he have the nerve.

Brian Kelly on Rees: "If Tommy didn't turn the ball over at the rate he did last year, we'd be talking about this kid at the highest level."

Not very encouraging.

I think Kelly's faith in Rees can be best described by St Augustine when he said “we believe that which is absent, but we see that which is present.”

BK said he wasn't a good return man...tried it in practices but had a lot difficulty

On a similar note, GAIII has the speed, but doesn't seem to have the requisite elusiveness. In other words, he's great at hitting a crease at full throttle (KO returns), but he's not great at making the first 1-2 guys miss (Punt returns).
