Clausen's freshman year was hilarious as he would turn around and run out of the pocket with his back to the defense, never throw the ball away under any circumstances, and often look totally lost. However, I also remember seeing glimpses of his arm strength and incredible accuracy. He improved a lot from Fr. to So. year, and then again to his Junior year. He had the tools, bhe just had to adapt to the college game.
I am a Tommy fan, but I don't want him to start because he seems a little slow for this offense, his arm doesn't seem particularly strong, and his deep ball seems sub-par. These aren't the kind of things that change, IMO. If he starts, I think we'll be fine, so long as he cuts down the TOs: he can move the chains consistently and is very tough-minded. But to me, he is not really a weapon that adds another dimension to the offense.
Golson's issues sound more like Clausen's to me. I think Hendrix needs reps, reps, reps in throwing situations before he is a great option to start.
