You don't have to uber to the stadium if you don't have a parking pass. You can pay to park in the lots.. I usually park in Burke, which is the Golf Course lot. Close to Notre Dame Ave for easy out and a nice walk through campus.

You should be able to find some parking near the stadium on Friday.

I'd also recommend going to the trumpets in the dome on gmeday, I think it happens maybe two hours before kick-off. Very cool experience.

Brothers on Eddy St. is probably the best place for beers if you aren't at a tailgate. Close, easy walk to the stadium, and a fairly large bar.

Enjoy!

I like going to Legends for drinks before the game - it's right across from the stadium. You have to pay a cover to get in (food voucher), but if you go to the restaurant and eat the food voucher goes toward your meal. There are big screen TV's so you can watch games while eating/drinking.

You can park on the streets south of campus if you are getting in early. No charge.

Plenty of places to park, plus they run little shuttle carts to some lots, no?

Really soak it in on game day. Just walking the entire campus all morning long is a treat, especially as the leaves change and all.

If you can, Drummers Circle at midnight in front of the Dome is one of my favorites. Take in a hockey game if they are playing at home, tickets are cheap, and the action is fun.

when u say early, how early we talking? you know any of the names so i can google map them?

Google map it - anything south of Angela and west of ND Ave has open street parking. Before noon for a 3:30 kick should be fine. You will be able to get your shopping in the days before but that is always good for a run back before game time if necessary and drop excess stuff off.

This is all accurate. O'Rourkes (where the BK radio show is) is good for beers too. On Thursday and Friday you can park in the garage in Eddy St commons for pretty cheap (first hour is free) as well, but you can find road parking for free.

Legends is a fun place to go to as well, which is right across from Eddy St Commons towards campus.

I'll send you a pm later with some other stuff. Also, give me a shout when you're in town. I work over there and maybe I can sneak away to buy you a beer.

At worst, you should be able to get near Howard St. and Frances St. Could probably park there Saturday morning too.

Friday parking is not an issue. Park at the bookstore. On Saturday, look for free street parking south of campus if you're early enough. Just turn down Notre Dame Avenue for a few blocks. My go-to is Saint Mary's. It's only $25 and there's a shuttle back from the grotto area after the game.

Do they do Gug tours? Also on Friday you can walk down to the tunnel onto the field until like 4 pm or so. They also do the trumpets under the dome Friday as well then after that the band marches from the dome to the stadium. Saturday I like getting there early for the bagpipe band, a steak sandwich from the students is good. If you can ur wife are into haunted houses and all that there is a really cool haunted corn field with about 5 haunted houses about 15 mins from campus for Friday night

... but if you go to the restaurant and eat the food voucher goes toward your meal.

How much nutritional value is there in the typical food voucher? I know that a reasonable amount of "roughage" is recommended, but paper as a substitute for a hardy Irish Stew ... ???

I always park in the neighborhood east of the campus right on the other side of Twyckenham. You can usually get there three hours before the game and still find a good spot. $20 to park most places in this neighborhood. Short walk to campus and you walk right past the Gug and the practice field which is open to the public on gameday.

Just took my family out for the Miami (OH) game. On game day, there is a catering station right next to the bookstore. Looks like a private event but it open to the public. Food is free and beers are only $2.

If going to the Gug on Friday, get there early. They close to the public at 2:00 Friday.

Ended up parking at a lot across from the Linebacker on gameday. Was $50 but walk was very short and was extremely easy to get back out into traffic after the game.

early reports are cool (40's) and possibility of rain
poncho always good
flask for gametime warmth, great with the hot chocolate
bring some extra dry clothes for the car
don't count on texting cell service, around game time it is shite
Fiddlers Hearth downtown is great for food and music

Reiterating what some others were saying, on Thursday and Friday, just park in one of the JACC lots. If you don't mind walking a bit and don't want to pay for parking, just park a few blocks down in one of the neighborhoods. I usually park on Corby ave and just walk down Notre Dame ave to campus. I also just read something about downtown south bend having free parking and shuttles running to campus, but I'll have to look and see if I can find the article. I would not recommend relying on Uber on gameday because there are some ridiculous levels of surge pricing.

If you don't get in the Gug in time on Friday, the area with the Heismans is always open on Sundays. If you're interested in some of the other trophies and memorabilia, Heritage Hall in the JACC is always open and is pretty cool to see some of the trophies from the old bowl games as well as just the history of the team and some of the other sports.

You may also want to look into doing a guided campus tour Thursday or Friday. The guides know a ton of info and if its your first time it might help you get your bearings on campus for gameday.

Where are you guys coming from on this parking stuff for Thursday/Friday? If he is going to the restaurants in Eddy Commons like he said, why in the world we need to park so far away? Just park in Eddy Commons. Where they have ample street parking and a huge parking garage.

During gameday, no need for shuttle either. Just park in one of plethora of lots on 23.

I said park in the JACC assuming he is doing stuff on campus those days. In that case its closer and free. As for gameday, I just always park on the streets because its easy to get in and out, not far from campus, and once again, free. Being a still-broke young alum, the whole "free" aspect appeals to me, but I guess if this is a more rare occurence, the other lots would probably be more fun on gamedays.

He didn't say anything about Eddy Street in his OP, he talked about doing campus shit.

Those lots are ghetto AF. But YMMV. I have a donor parking pass at SMC so I park there for free and never really think about it. Plus, it's way easier to get back to the toll road if you're west of campus than if you're east.

ND can't be any worse than the parking situation at the Rose Bowl... I've survived that monstrosity numerous times... I'm ready for anything.

Haven't you said before that they ruin a golf course every home game?

If you plan on eating or getting drinks, Eddy Commons is much closer because it's the same distance to the stadium/gug/etc and it's where all that other stuff is.

You don't know what you're talking about. My wife parked our Mercedes there this weekend with no worries. I then used the Joyce lot for our tailgate and had my truck there. I was significantly more worried about that.
