George Thorogood One Bourbon One Scotch One Beer.

Follow it with a John Lee chaser ... or slide into it with a Hooker kicker.

Working on our rehab house, I revisited the late 60's with some Wilson Pickett and Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels.

This band! Great dudes...Girls Guns and Glory...retro rock and country. Incredible musicians. I have become tight with them over the past few years. I recommend them to anyone who's into Telecasters. This video is older, as is the song. Alamo's band covers it. They've grown considerably since then I might add.

Shit, Man. I'm feeling my age as it is ... I don't need no reminders, as pleasant and uplifting as they may be.

I place Wilson Pickett and Mitch Ryder in the mid sixties. I think of Mitch as one of a number of "white boys who appreciate" as an early influence on my musical tastes. Wilson I appreciated immediately.

I leave you with this:

I have stories that would bore your socks off so I'll spare you.

Rock On, and may your soul remain forever young ...

Perhaps our idea of "late" and "mid" aren't that far apart. Our HS won a contest in '68 to hear Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, but I started listening to them and WP in '67. I will say your are more fortunate than I if you discovered their music before then

Saw the Stones last night at Bobby Dodd. Simply incredible. Still trying to figure out how a 72 year old does what he does so well. Throw in the venue with ATL's skyline for a backdrop...

Question for y'all who pay more attention to music than I do... when did Dave Grohl become "the universally respected guy in the music industry who shows up anywhere and everywhere"?

I care about music.

Who the hell is Dave Grohl.

Why should I give a shit.

I (more or less) gave up on "popular" music in the late '70s.

He was in Nirvana and started the Foo Fighters. I only came across him because he collaborated with Zac Brown Band, then showed up at the 50th anniversary Beatles special on CBS last year. I just keep seeing his name pop up all over the place.

You didn't know who Dave Grohl was? Dude is a rock and roll legend. One of the most influential musicians over the last twenty years.

Fuc'n A, dude.... [/smdh]

Why am I expected to be familiar with influential modern rock and roll musicians if I don't really listen to modern rock and roll? I'm also unfamiliar with famous fishermen, fashion models, and interior decorators.

Nirvana was like 25 years ago. That's ancient in the music industry. Hell, I'm 62 and have Nirvana and Foo Fighters on this little magic box with one button that plays music. I'm surprised you know who the Beatles are! Did you know Paul McCartney was in the Beatles before he started Wings?

I can see it now... Wiz standing on his porch swaying and snapping his fingers to Band On the Run on a cool New England morning.

Complete with a shiny pair of LL Bean duck boots and cardigan.

I own the entire "official" Beatles catalog, plus Live at the BBC, Anthology, Let it Be... Naked, and a few others I'm sure I'm forgetting. My dad was four years old when they broke up and they're still pretty much the extent of my musical knowledge.

Welp.

My bad. I s'pose it would be equivalent to not recognizing the names Phil Spector or George Martin by folks of my declining years.

Spector didn't perform or play but he did produce... and kill his wife. Or was it his current girlfriend?

I found some nice Brooks Brothers shirts at the thrift store a couple of weeks ago. $8 and they were practically brand new! That's a freaking bargain.

I also got two new pairs of Top Siders about a month ago. I'll be sure to check in with you next time to keep you abreast of any future preppy purchases.

My dad worked for RCA when the Beatles exploded. He brought home original albums literally fresh off the press. I still have them.
