Michigan and Oregon beat them last year. We've typically been better than those two teams.

It's not some slam dunk thing, I think they probably beat us 6-7/10 times with 2-3 of those being blowouts, but I don't think OSU has been consistent enough to get the Bama treatment where I'm wondering why I'm even watching.
And though they lost, Utah made a lot of plays and scored a lot of points. The team’s got to be better that the Utes, right?

Would be ecstatic with a 12 point loss on the road to probably the #1 team in the country.

Ecstatic isn't the word, but I'd be content with a 12 point loss depending how it happens. Is ND Losing 35-17 and they score a last second TD to cover? Or is it 28-24 in the mid fourth quarter and ND can't finish a drive where OSU then capitalizes to put it away. Gives two completely different vibes IMO.

If you're thinking about following Bill C.'s system for betting... NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND.

That is downright miserable lol

On the other hand the “Bear” is an ND-hating douche. This team has nothing in common with many of those blowouts

This team has many things that will keep it close over teams from the past-
A pass rush
Quality depth (defensive depth specifically)
Waaaaaay more speed than before
Less tightness from coaching staff (my opinio, but the Ok St start showed that for sure)

The “Bear” is always down on ND. He either picks against them or just neglects to pick. He’s not as bad as Tebow, but he’s a fraud. I have trouble even watching ESPN anymore with CFB coverage

Truth, fuck the "Bear." '94 Miami grad, can see why he doesn't like the Irish. Most of those Top 5 teams were probably Alabama and Clemson teams.

I’m actually shocked by those numbers and wonder if they are true,… the UGA games, the FSU games, two of the Clemson games,.. all came down to the wire and some of those were on the road.

The Bear stinks and seems he's counting bowl games. True away games against top 10 teams, I am counting UGA 2019 (6 points), Miami 2017 (33 points), 2015 Stanford (2 points), 2014 ASU (24 points), 2014 FSU (4 points), 2013 Stanford (7 points), 2012 MSU (17 point win), 2012 Oklahoma (17 point win), 2011 Stanford (14 points), 2008 USC (35 points). That is an average of 9.2 and really, you can throw out 2008, and then 2017 and 2014 were debacles. So in away games against top 10 teams, ND has been good for 1 debacle out of every 4 or 5. Clemson was 12 at the time in 15 but that was a game ND should have won.

Here’s where I get hope,…. At some point things like this break. At some point Nebraska is going to win close games again. At some piont Bama will stink again. At some point ND will win a big matchup or bowl game again,… for no other reason than law of averages,… maybe it happens Saturday. Until it dies tho I totally get the betting public thinking it’s ground hog day

Remind me in 5 years how stupid this post is when Brian Hartline is the OC and they've had half a dozen WRs drafted in the first 3 rounds.
I’m not sure how else to say it. That very well could happen, but as it stands today it hasn’t, and while they have a stud WR returning the rest of the guys are unproven and untested, and as of this moment they do not have that history of success like Bama had at the RB position…so I questioned why everyone is treating them like they are returning the two 1st rd WRs thT left last year…but somehow you KNOW what will happen this year and how these guys with less than 10 career catches are going to be unstoppable this year. I would love the mega millions numbers for next week while you’re at it. Please and thank you.

Everything here is spot on, but I would like to point out we have played the “but this time it is different” card a few times before, and it turned out to not be any different those times.

We tend to focus on our own personal growth, and neglect other programs growth.

Alabama, Clemson, OSU, aren’t a static situation just because they are already at the top. They keep getting better and deeper too (somehow).

And I will say this:

FS1 just showed back to back the OSU/UO and OSU/scUM games. Interesting choice to air those two particular games. Is it predictive programming????????

I am predicting ND wins in similar fashion they lost at FSU in 2014. ND wins but with controversy.

Regardless of the exterior talent, the trenches are where the games are won. Our advantage is the lines which will give us a solid chance to win.

I love the confidence but we don’t need to give them more positive energy to want to win.

I think the worry about talk is overrated. Michigan talked major shit before Ohio State came to town last season. As long as you’re preparing to back it up. It works for boxers, mma fighters, and it works in the field. Just better show up.

Talk works as motivation for exactly one play. Once you get that first hit out of your system it’s all ball.

Unless you get your ass kicked. Then it usually comes back in the second half when they're rubbing your face in the shit.

I think Irish win with similar gameplan Michigan had on OSU last year. Run the ball down their throat, set up some play action, great DL play/sacks, bend don't break.

I remember the Buckeyes talking all kinds of shit in '05 before the Fiesta Bowl. If it helps them believe, I'm all for it. The other team will always find bulletin board material anyway, even when they're 2+ scores favored.
