PANDFAN, thanks for the doing the presser.
LOL - Dublin posted a link to NDInsider that gave the key notes of the presser.
Who the hell has been clamoring for a flashy, vertical offense? Kelly appears to be saying "people want us to run a flashy, vertical offense but RTDB is what wins games so they're just going to have to put up with it."If Notre Dame can't be successful in a flashy vertical offense, Kelly said, that's not what they'll run going forward. "We can't appease people in terms of what looks good as much as what we're going to be good at," Kelly said. "If running the football is what is going to be the common denominator for wins, then that's what we're doing."

He's been reading the forums.-- If Notre Dame can't be successful in a flashy vertical offense, Kelly said, that's not what they'll run going forward. No Kelly. Everyone wants you to RTDB because that's what wins games. Three yards and a cloud of dust.
When Kelly got hired he said he realized that he had to do things differently at Notre Dame. At his previous stops he was hired to put butts in the seats, so he went with flashy offenses. At ND he said he knew he needed a stout defense and something along the lines of a physical run game or something maybe. So, at what point did he go derp and forget that? It's like this season the light came back on.

I think that's actually a pretty consistent record. Kelly's shortcomings in the running game have been situational IMO.
2017 is on pace for, sit down when you read this, 4,299 yards and 56 rushing touchdowns. Keep your fingers crossed.
I went to the last night game we had at MSU and their crowd gets pretty rowdy. Also the few ND fans that go get stuck in a upper level corner. Not sure what impact their struggles last year has on attendance and stuff though.
Not sure if it's been posted, but Gus Johnson is calling the game....pretty pumped

This will be a good game to watch. Notre Dame has more talent but MSU has a better coach. The difference between Dantonio and Kelly is, Dantonio appears to have gone back to the basics after MSU's horrible season and Kelly has stated multiple times he has forgotten about last year.
I don't know if Dantonio is a better coach. Dantonio has riled up Urban Meyer a number of times, but Dantonio has struggled with BK in the past. He got the first win on the flukey, penalty filled Little Giants play, then proceeded to lose the next 3 games I think before last year's debacle of a team dropped one to Sparty. I think BK will have his number again this year.
I think if you polled the general public, 98% would say Dantonio is the better coach. He's consistently won more with less than BK has. And he has a tendency to actually show up in big games.
Closer to 50/50
Not to mention all the institutional issues Sparty always has.
Yeah and we never have institutional problems. Never academic, arrest or playing ineligible players. Thank goodness we aren't them.
Not off to a great start for BKCloser to 50/50

Small sample size, plus MSU is a state school. I don't think NDNation even knows Rivals exists.
