Are there any other bars open early on gameday around or decently close to campus other than The Backer? I like Mitch’s but I’m pretty sure they open at 11ish on gameday.

Tailgating doesn't tickle your fancy after the L'ville game my friend?!

I would bet Legends is open early on gamedays. Could be wrong. If not, Arrow is probably right, head just south of Legends on N Eddy St, I'd put my money on Brothers Bar & Grill being open early on gameday.

Make it happen! Wish I was going this weekend.

They took it down but ND Football's SM Account just posted a pic of Golden Tate against Michigan and said it was Rocket from the 89 game...

Yeah, I don't see the suicide watch thing, I see a realistic guy. If he was pumping rainbows and unicorns I'd be more worried the guy was delusional.

Me neither. Besides, kind of hard to be upbeat when you're covering New Mexico.

Anytime a programs ceiling is bowl eligibility, covering said program is going to be a rough time.

You mean like this guy? https://templefootballforever.wordpress.com/

Dunno what his frame of mind is like today, but going back to the 2013 and 2015 meetings against Temple this guy was hot for his Owls. In 2013 he thought there was a chance his Owls were going to upset the Irish with 52 trick play halfback passes (Their previous QB changed positions). They were also going to win 10+ games. That didn't happen, Temple didn't even run one trick play if I recall...they won two games all season which included losses to Fordham and Idaho. Then, in 2015 he was pretty damn sure Temple was going to destroy us and Temple would finish the season undefeated as champions. That didn't happen either, although it was a tight game. Temple picked up 3 more losses after we beat them.

Man, that 2015 Temple team was no joke. Their D was legit, one of the few teams who was able to slow down our offense that year.

That game was on Halloween and was all sorts of funky. I do recall a beat writer or two for them who were confident that they would beat the Irish, and a couple of fans here and there talking all kinds of internet smack.

In their defense, it's probably hard to contain yourself when you have a talented, relevant team and you're not used to it. Rhule did a helluva job sustaining success there.

Oh yeah, that was neat. I remember him. My first thought was, "Wait, you are an actual Temple fan? Not like, I went to Temple so I root for them but I like team XYZ?" He was actually a diehard...

Yeah, Mike Gibson is the definition of die hard. He's a bit more reserved in some of his stuff I just checked out, but man...reading back to the stuff he released in 2013 and 2015 before those games? He was delusional.

I remember some guy who did an upcoming opponent blog interview with an ND blogger and refused to answer certain questions because he thought ND's football team might use his insights against his team.

I don't know how to word that non-awkwardly.

Anyway, was it that guy? I feel like it was that guy.

I wish I could set up and tailgate, but the logistics of bringing tailgate supplies on an airplane just isn’t in the cards. I was just looking for somewhere with some kegs and eggs, maybe a bloody or two, get a nice little buzz going before heading over to campus with a pint of Jameson in my pocket

Not a bad plan at all. Legends has game day parties at 8:30

https://legendsrestaurant.nd.edu/football-weekends/

Game Day Pricing
Pre-game Party
8:30am - kickoff
$20 cover = $20 voucher
Voucher is good for $20 in food and beverage at Legends. Redeemable during game weekend (Saturday and Sunday) of issue.

This is about the one, and only, time being a Purdue grad is nice.

Breakfast Club spoiled us. Bars opening around 5-6am was great. Lol.

Advice request. I’m possibly having the wife and kids wanting to park on game day at 10ish.... Lot suggestions for easy in/out? Keeping in mind she will be taking off during the game at about 2 (went last year, had enough I guess.....). I’ll be staying for the game with my daughter. Any additional suggestions on the best/easiest way to pick us up after the game? Ease of entrance is of particular importance, exit not as much (I’ll be driving). Any info/ help is appreciated.

I’ll often park over at Campus Court apartments which is just east of Twyckenham when I know I’m going to be walking around or not staying in the same place very long. I think they usually charge $20 or so and it’s an easy walk past the soccer fields and Joyce center right to the southeast part of the stadium.

I’ve had good success over the years parking in the residential area east of campus (Ivey St area). About $20 depending on which house you go to. It’s a little bit of a walk to the stadium, but not bad. It’s great after the game especially if you are going east or north. You can head out east and pick up 23, and totally avoid the big lot traffic. You could just have the wife pick you up on one of those side streets after the game too.

Edit - I’m pretty sure the apartments 317 is talking about are right by this same area.

How far are you willing to walk? Because the fastest exit is probably strolling South of campus and meeting at an intersection.

I’m not worried about distance (within reason). I’m more concerned with my wife not being too stressed finding us.......

We’ll be headed east, so this looks like a solid plan at this point.

For a cheap spot to park, White Field is an easy one. Its right off Douglas and across the street from campus. Since you're wife is leaving early, she shouldn't have any issues leaving. Depending on when you plan on getting there, getting to White Field could be busy.

For pick up, I would avoid Angela at all costs. There are some streets that intersect with Napoleon St that would be good: Francis, St. Peter, and maybe Hill. Remind your wife not too park too far west. Notre Dame hasn't quite gentrified everything yet and there are still some sketchy parts. So I would either do Napoleon/Francis or the CVS or Walgreens at Edison and Ironwood.

I know Book needs to get his passing back on track but I think ND needs to come out w/ power running right at these guys. Let the OL eat & the RBs get needed reps while they build a big lead. Then let Book start throwing darts to put the Lobos away and make way for the backups. Hopefully, Jurkovec can get a series or two w/ the ones.

From the D, I want to see them stick to their assignments and not deviate. When the DL freelanced, it lead to big gains. When the LB couldn’t read their keys, they ran themselves out of the play. I’m hoping some of it was adrenaline/first game knocking the rust off...but they need to get squared away or UGA will embarrass them.

Been parking here every game for the past 20 years or so. Very easy in and out. Now my wife drops us at the cul de sac and picks us up there after the game.

I don't care which route we go, regarding offensive game plan. Both pass/run need to get reps but I hope we see a healthy dose of Kyren Williams. I think he must get some seasoning if we're going to have a hope against Georgia. That pass-catching, elusive back needs to be an option.

From there, I hope we are able to run a lot of people into the game. While it's still a good game, we should be getting guys live reps with pressure. If we do those things, I don't care if we win by 20 or 50. It will pay dividends the rest of the season, voters be damned.

https://fightingirishwire.usatoday.com/2019/09/13/nbc-skycam-during-notre-dame-games/

NBC will make a commitment to using a sideline skycam for almost every snap not in the redzone for Notre Dame games in 2019.

“When the play comes to a conclusion, the ability to collapse and move dynamically with that action, you literally feel like you’re right there getting up from the tackle,” NBC producer Rob Hyland told NBC Sports. “The ultimate goal is to bring the viewer closer to the action and to get them to the line of scrimmage. The only way to do that is through a camera that travels with the line of scrimmage.”

Kill me.

So fucking stupid.

They had to do this for the Carolina/TB game last night because of lightning in the area (they won't use their usual cameras because of safety issues?), and it was terrible. I don't recall ever being satisfied with the perspective they offered during the play, particularly when it came to seeing lanes develop down the field.

The camera moving to "keep you right in the action!" doesn't actually keep you in the action. It continuously shifts your perspective, keeping you from focusing on what you want to see.

Now I'm going to go rewatch the Blue and Gold game to see if NBC might by some prayer be better at it than FOX was last night.

Prepare to be disappointed. The broadcast looked and felt amateurish.

Couldn't agree more on your other points. It "keeps you right in the action" at the expense of getting a good steady view of what's actually happening. Players who are "right on the tackle" usually don't have the best view of the strategy occurring on the overall field. People don't watch football to be in the position of players, they watch to be in the position of coaches.

I wasn't too troubled last night... it's a different way to view the game and more 'in the action' as has been stated... a good mix of both is preferred but I'm not losing sleep either way.
