Got offered a ticket to this.

Had to turn them down because it's my homecoming and I can't bail on my girlfriend.

Notre Dame Stadium is going to be rocking in a way it hasn't since '05 Southern Cal

Weakest. Excuse. Ever. If she doesn't understand the importance of this game she's not a keeper. Just sayin'....

Random: Listening to Gus Johnson call the USC-Stanford game (before ND starts), makes me want him for NBC to call the ND games badly.

Young, energetic, enthusiastic, knowledgeable. Just feels fun and fresh.

Gus Johnson:

ND WITH THE BALL, FIRST AND TEN....A HANDOFF....OH WHAT A CARRY.....2ND AND TEN......., ND, DROPS BACK...........GAIN OF TEN...........,HANDOFF....LOSSS OF A YARD.........THIS COULD BE IT............SCREEN......... OK, So he over exaggerates EVERYTHING. I do not want him. Now that I pointed it out to you, you may realize.

My biggest and most favorite game of the year is 7 days away! Huge recruiting weekend and time for Kelly to get a win against my most hated team! Please please please go 2-0 against that dreadful state!

Agreed, the only way you turn this down is if your kid is being born. :)

We owe Denard a beatdown in the worst way. It would be selfish if the defense didnt give him that courtesy before he becomes a 4th WR on Cleveland or some other horrible NFL team.

LETS GO IRISH!!! Tickets in hand and we will be making our annual 4 hour trip to South Bend from Canada (an hour or so from Detroit) to watch our beloved Irish dine on meat chicken scUM next Saturday night. We planned to leave early but the hype and must win atmosphere is making us change our plans, we are leaving at the crack of dawn to be there early enough to hit a few local stores for ND swag and then tail gate our butts off!

On a side note, other than on campus where are the hidden gems of getting some ND merchandise? I'm sure the local Wal-mart and Mejer have some but looking for some others!

LETS GO IRISH!!!!!

See you all in the bend this week I will be there and am meeting up with some close friends and my family. May go down on Thursday, just to take in a little more of the ambience.

We are going to have to score more points than we have against Purdue/MSU if we expect to beat Michigan. Although we have a very good front 7, Robinson is going to escape our pass rush and buy time. He is going to pressure us with his running and his ability to throw outside the pocket. Because of this, and because they have better skill position players than MSU/Purdue, they are going to make some big plays and score.

On the positive side, we will be able to run the ball better against Michigan than we have against Purdue and MSU, and we should be able to convert better on 3rd down. Mattison will try lots of run blitz's and change up defensive fronts and protections to force Golson to read and beat them, but they do not have the front 7 personnel of MSU and Purdue. So, we should break some long runs on the ground if we play good assignment football on the O-Line and Golson makes the right pre snap reads. And we should be able to hit Eifert downfield, and hit some quick slants to our WR's, to burn their blitzes and to keep drives moving. Also, if Golson can break containment when UM blitzes, he will have the opportunity to make some big plays downfield as he did the first two weeks.

The biggest element to the outcome of the game is 3rd down conversion: If we convert well, we'll win. If we struggle, we'll lose. Don't be surprised to see Rees starting the second half if we're behind and Golson struggles in the 1st half to convert on 3rd down. Mattison is a good Defensive Coordinator with lousy personnel. A QB that makes good reads will shred his defense. Let's hope its Golson, but we are fortunate to have an experienced Rees if Mattison confuses our young QB, and if he also can't make plays downfield after breaking containment.

Let's hope its Golson, but we are fortunate to have an experienced Rees if Mattison confuses our young QB, [like last year?] and if he also can't make plays downfield after breaking containment.

And that is the rest of the story.

I will grant you a preemptive pardon for treating any physical injuries inflicted on skunkbears by the Irish. I'll even take it upon myself to grant you a plenary indulgence for salving their sagging psyches following their crushing defeat.*

Is it wrong of me to think of Sally Kellerman cheering on the sidelines as Hot Lips Houlihan in the movie M*A*S*H?

Nope, not for me...I still LOVE Gus Johnson. My favorite announcer and it's not even close. No one captures a 'moment' like he does.

Oh, and what you said above isn't true. I've listened to tons of his games and they don't go like that at all. He's subdued when he needs to be, but he let's his enthusiasm and love for the game take over in big moments, and that's why so many of us love him. He announces games like a lot of us do in our heads.

Denard still scares me. Someone ease my fears, please.

GO IRISH

He scares me too. We've already gotten into a big mess of an argument over this on another thread. I don't fear him per se, but I definitely am concerned over what he can do. And the fact that he has put up such insane numbers on us for 2 straight years AND come up huge when it counted is what makes me concerned.

The only people that can put your fears to rest will be on the sidelines wearing ND gold helmets on Saturday night. And personally, I think they will ease your fears as the Irish win a close one...
