Nice to hear that.
Mark May took a cheap shot at us during College Final, but that's not surprising. He said he wasn't a fan of scoring a TD with less than a minute to go, but had NO problem with Okla State running up the score. Of course, May didn't tell the viewers that the rushing TD was scored by Toma, who isn't even a running back.

Getting through the week with sustaining any serious injury (at least that we know of) is huge for this team right now, too.

I've never heard Jesse Palmer utter a prejudiced word against Notre Dame. I believe that he is a living example that there are ESPN football commentators who are quite ready to sing NDs and Coach Kelly's praises if we just give them an excuse to do so. If this team steps it up, we'll hear plenty of this kind of response.

While some may disagree, and forgiving his slip up in pronouncing Golson's name wrong, IMHO Jesse Palmer is as consummate a professional as any commentators ESPN has. He is consistently well versed in his analysis, realistic, and makes it a point to be professional all while avoiding the pitfalls of exaggeration and 'sham' commentary that has been adopted by most of his ESPN peers. Palmer is basically the only person that I pay any attention to when it comes to ESPN College Football coverage.

To add, like OMM said, I can never remember a time when Palmer has jumped on the 'ND bashing bandwagon'. I feel like his is just as fair in his commentary on us as he is with any and all other teams. If he has biases, I never see them. And that goes for most if not all of his commentary.

I disagree about 100%.

Color me surprised.

I hope you saw that I qualified him as the most professional of ESPN's commentators. Not all commentators ever, or anywhere. But I'm sure you didn't just say that to disagree to disagree for disagreeing's sake. Nor did you only pick out the one part you wanted to disagree with but make a blanket statement on it all. I know you would never do either of those things.

Jesse Palmer's younger brother, Billy, was a TE for ND from 2000-2004 so he probably has some bias in support of us.

Just go back into the states from Ireland:

Was there a week and the sights are incredible.

The amount of ND supporters there was tremendous. Everywhere you looked you saw a ND shirt.

Game was great. Weather perfect. If anything a little hot.

If you ever heard a rumor of people in Ireland hating Notre Dame. Those rumors couldn't be more false. They know and respect the University. To them it's a great school that has a football team.

Overall experience was a 10.

Jesse Palmer has never really taken any shots at ND, and if we start winning games, he will be the first to jump on the pro-ND analyst bandwagon. President and CEO of the bandwagon Lou Holtz is looking for some members...

Just got done watching the game due to my inability to watch it yesterday and had to give my .02......
I thought Golson looked as we all thought he would. Plenty of talent and potential, made some solid plays, and only one bad one.
Riddick and GA3 looked amazing, which also leads me to the giant holes left by our stud OLs. Yes, I know they had about 3 inches and 60 pounds/guy on them, but they still looked very solid minus the one sack.
Only downside was the kicking overall. One terrible opening kickoff, followed by 2 TERRIBLE attempts at XPs.
Our secondary was as expected, but with some time could be decent.
Overall I'm very happy with the start, and outcome.
We'll see an idea of how our boys do next Saturday.

The camaraderie and chemistry that Kelly is building (along with talent and depth) is on full display in that video

@NDatRivals: Interesting take from Navy HC Ken Niumatalolo. In recapping the 50-10 loss last weekend he called this Notre Dame's best team in 15 years.

Nice to hear. Won't do us any good if we turn the ball over a million times like we did last year, but its encouraging. Gotta keep our eyes on the prize, though.

If you played a play, you played a year.

Not 100% accurate. Per the NCAA:

An extra year of eligibility can also be granted via a "hardship waiver" if a student-athlete suffers an incapacitating injury or illness in the course of a season. The injury must occur during the first half of the season and the student-athlete, in Divisions I and II, must not have participated in more than two contests or 20% of the school's completed contests, whichever is greater.

You would know better how often that happens at ND, but I believe at other schools the coaching staff will play freshman in the first two contests as sort of a trial run and then they get "hurt" and preserve the rest of the year.

Right, but I think BGIF was referring to situations in which the extra year was "automatic." Once you play a snap you have to apply for a waiver. Its a little different. For the purposes of "reserving" the year in the absence of additional circumstances, a snap = a year.

I don't know much about the practice you mentioned here, but you would still have to apply for a waiver in that situation.

Quite true. Thanks for the clarification.

Hi!!

Tomorrow, me and a group of Notre Dame fans in Spain, we will fly to Dublin to attend the game. This is a great opportunity for us because it may be our only chance to see a live match of ND in our lives. I know that Kelly does not like much this trip, but thanks to the administration of ND for this game in Dublin.

We follow the games every week, we stay up late (very late), we suffer (and we curse T.R. too) but we also belive that the Notre Dame time is coming.

We will cheer for Notre Dame as loud as we can

GO IRISH!!!

Curious, why did this guy get banned?
