Out of idle curiosity I retread the UND August 15th Press Release. It was issued by Paul J. Brown but there was no title for Mr. Browne. At the bottom of the page was the address:

University of Notre Dame
University Communications
500 Grace Hall
etc, etc

Not recalling that name, a search lead me to another UND Press Release dated July 18, 2013 announcing the hire of Mr. Browne.

Notre Dame appoints Paul Browne VP for public affairs and communications // News // Notre Dame News // University of Notre Dame

Paul J. Browne, currently the deputy commissioner of public information for the New York City Police Department, has been appointed by Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., president of the University of Notre Dame, to the newly elevated post of vice president for public affairs and communications, effective Aug. 19, Monday.

He's been on the job at ND for a year. Prior to Browne's hire his position was filled on an interim basis by Lou Nanni and Matthew Storin.

Working closely with the president, Browne will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy to enhance both nationally and internationally Notre Dame’s growing reputation for preeminent research, superb graduate education and unsurpassed undergraduate education — all informed by a distinctive Catholic mission. Browne will provide leadership in advancing the University’s interests and contributions in the public arena and direct Notre Dame’s communications toward its multiple internal and external audiences.

Sounds like he sits at the right hand of The Father (temporally speaking).

The University’s public affairs and communications division encompasses the following departments and units: internal communications, marketing communications, multimedia services, print services, Web services, Notre Dame Magazine, public information, public relations, strategic communications planning, public affairs, community relations, community engagement and the Robinson Community Learning Center.

...

Pretty big list of responsibilities but not the Athletic Department. All things administrative, like academics.

Interesting career Bachelors in American Studies from Marist College with a year study in Bogota, Columbia, then lay volunteer teacher in Pago Pago, American Samoa, followed a MS Journalism from Columbia University.

He started as a reporter in Watertown, NY then a stringer in Albany. Albany Bureau Chief, freelance work with Washington Post and others.

He entered government work as deputy director of the International Police Monitors in Haiti. He was press secretary for NY Court of Appeals, US Treasury, VP at Marist College, press secretary/ chief of staff for Senator Moynihan and lastly chief communications strategist and spokesman for NYPD.

Long and winding road of varied experience.

re: grey hairs in the gold seats...

was in the gold seats, behind MSU bench about 15 rows back...at a game in the mid 2000's...hot as hell...so theres this young couple a really hot chick wearing an MSU skin tight game jersey, short-shorts, smokin body and this couple were hammered and making out, groping each other the whole game, shes like straddling this dude half the game...and all the blue hairs were besides themselves, mortified, doing the eyerollls all game long, it was hysterical i cant believe these kids didnt get thrown out but im glad they didnt i quite enjoyed the hot chick, it was the game where kyle mccarthy intercepted to seal the game late in the 4Q.

What goes on in the gold seats sometimes stays in the gold seats. I'm usually there for 2-3 games a year, I'll be there tomorrow. I can remember the Utah game in 2010...there were some young kids hammered that game, one of them was passed out in their chair almost the entire game (Like slouched down passed out). She would only wake up to puke on herself, but somehow she was never asked to leave. It was disgusting, and there's no way the ushers would have missed her.

The next year at Air Force, I bought two seats for myself and a buddy who was a Lieutenant in the Army. We were in the nosebleeds because the gold seats were spoken for. Well, my buddy had a bit too much and may have puked down the inside of his shirt...but he did it with class! Fortunately he wasn't in uniform, just camo pants and an Army t-shirt. Well, he was escorted out shortly after, despite the fact he was fairly discrete. I'm surprised anyone noticed it really. He was gone before the ball changed hands for the first time, they didn't mess around.

OMG that just made me really irrationally angry. I nearly wrecked my entire office just now.

I'm going to head to 4chan's /b/ thread to see if I can get some anonymous hackers to ruin that guy's life. (not really j/k I'm calming down ... deep breaths)

lol
I just about gave a neg rep and I never(Only once I think) do that

Doesn't a poster get v-bucks for every post in a thread they've created? I imagine Cali_domer was broke before this thread.

Yeah the gold seats are a lot more like the rest of the stadium than I expected. I've had tix in the gold seats twice, for the BYU game last year and then again last Saturday (my buddy basically inherited his wife's grandpa's tickets) and it definitely wasn't the subdued and sleepy environment I feared it might be.

Don't think you'll learn about it at the pep rally. Especially if less than all of them are reinstated. What's BK going to say, "I'd like to welcome so and so back, but the rest, they gone?"

Thinking about it, that may be kinda funny.

Thats the thing, it's somewhat more subdued than the rest of the stadium, but at the same time there's less fans per square inch too. I would say BYU isn't a fair assessment of the gold seats either, as by November most of the snow birds have left for Florida and give their tickets to friends and younger family members to brave the cold. Case in point, the Utah game in 2010 had a TON of young people in the gold seats because it was a late game and the older fans packed it in for the year after the poor start.

Definitely seems like no one got cleared. Absolutely pathetic job by this group of clowns running the show. Inexcusable.

There should be no neg reps allowed in this thread. It's like a cage match.

Just spitballing here, but, maybe they are going slow because the admin wants them to sit an X amount of games no matter what and knew BK would have them suited up ASAP.

Horseshit maneuver if true as I'm just spitballing but yes, I agree with you.
