Couldn't make this shit up. It's literally Kim Dunbar 2.0. Almost the exact same scenario, except she was a townie looking to exchange gifts and vacations for sex, instead of a tutor handing out papers for the same.
I disagree.
Dunbar was serial groupie that dated players over a couple of years something like the Susan Sarandon character in Bull Durham. She lavished gifts on several of them and had a baby with one.
BUT she was NOT an employee of the university. Holtz had an investigation and found no NCAA violation. BUT the NCAA came to a landmark decision finding her a "booster" because she was a member of the QB Club and paid 10 or 25 bucks to defray the cost of QB Club mailings. T
he nominal mailing charge was the key factor in declaring her a booster. ND lost two scholarships and went on NCAA probation.
A tutor in the ND tutoring program is an employee and it would be an NCAA Infraction. The actual sex part is a ND parietal/du Lac issue not NCAA. The academic fraud and bartering for such with an employee would raise the dreaded Lack of Institutional Control issue.
Half a dozen of Ara's players were suspended for pulling a train with a consenting coed. NOT an NCAA infraction but Ted/Res Life invited them to spend a semester away from ND.They were readmitted and went on to play football in subsequent years.
Around '98 or '99 backup QB Eric Chappell was found to have had a female tutor write one of more papers for him in exchange for player comp tickets which if I recall correctly he told her she could sell. I've used player comp tickets. There's a detailed I.D./Sign-in Procedure to preclude abuse of those tickets. The players are counseled about the uses and abuse of comp tickets. It was an accident. ND self reported that issue. It was a minor NCAA infraction but if I recall correctly both Chappell and the tutor got to finish their education at a different school at ND's direction.
Elam and 3 others were accused of rape/sexual battery. They claimed it was consensual. She didn't. Only oneperson actually went to trial and was convicted of a lesser charge. The D.A. then dropped the prosecutions of the other 3. Nonetheless, ND expelled all 4. One or two were a couple of weeks from graduation when tossed. There were No NCAA Infractions but expulsions nonetheless.
Considering the UNC fiasco, and ND's own record of dealing with transgressions, I would expect ND to self report and take stiff action IF THE RUMORED papers for sex with a tutor is true. I would expect them all to be out of school and ND offering a scholarship or two reduction. I'd also expect that after a semester they would be eligible to apply for re-admission.
ND has no experience with vacating games. Opponents (USC) has but ND has not. Personally vacating games is B.S. IF you had an ineligible player that you should forfeit the game that was the way in was done in college sports for over 100 years.
