Running game having a tell just makes so much sense. Even when the lineman are getting a push on the DL, the Opponents linebackers and safeties are always right there to plug the holes, with no hesitation.

I just can't imagine coaches/scouts/analytics guys on ND's payroll charting every play of every game and not noticing something like that, especially if it's so obvious that fans say they notice that the defense is flowing to the right hole to an unusual level.

Williams was never the real issue. He's made a few mistakes, but he's a very good back obviously. OL has been part of it, and we've been a few teams' Super Bowls.

These teams come out and give us their best shot for 2 quarters. OL struggles to open holes, starting RB can't get big yards during this time. 2nd half our depth and talent take over and backup RBs get more carries while the line is opening better holes so they look better. James ran into that today, runs starting of 4, 2, 6 yards, later 2, 5, 2 yards. Then we score a few times and suddenly Purdue is already losing some of their fire while Williams and Walton are busting chunk plays.

I realize you can't draw any big conclusions from beating Purdue, but the summation of this season so far is trending towards a national championship for ND.

That would be something to easily fake. You’re gonna shoot run gaps because I put my hands behind my back? Okay, watch this!

By the way, was there any other outcome from the chickencrap shove from #4 on Carr? Only other time I saw him was when Faison made the sideline catch on him.

Jamie noted on the Hit and Hustle pod this past week that Craig has a tell any time he pulls just from him watching the MSU game back. It definitely happens.

Defense was incredible vs Purdue minus Zackery last drive. I'm really impressed with how well coached they are. The D is running some very complex schemes at times and executing them at a high level!

Offense - I do NOT like denbrock's scheme and play calling, but you have to give him credit for how well coached they are to that scheme, they execute at a high level despite IMO, not being helped out as much as they could be.

The run game has issues still. One thing I've noticed through 4 games is the opponents Dline fires off the ball better than our oline. I think part of the issue is our offense always goes on Carr's first clap when the play clock is winding down. Yes he fake claps a lot, but that really only holds or shows the LBs. The dline isn't or shouldn't be looking at his hands, they should be looking at the ball. It just seems like the Dline knows when we're running it and fires off on first clap they hear, and it's hurting our oline's chance to make blocks or get across them. I don't get why ND can't go on 2 (2nd clap) more often, we did it once and Purdue jumped offsides.

I like we tried to get the ball to graham, but i'd like to see them use his speed on a crosser more so than corner fade contested catch. The long crosser play to gilbert, I think graham takes that to the house.

1. Maybe Im the only one but I wasnt impressed with the running game again yesterday. There still plenty of things that need worked out.
2. Gilbert needs 5-7 touches a game.
3. Dunham needs to play more
