Can you please explain to me where the "racial problem" is, when a black cop shoots a black man? I'm not saying that there aren't issues outside of this one incident. What I AM saying is that making excuses for people to riot, and using this incident to justify it based on racial oppression, is not only insane; it has to be borderline criminal. And it doesn't do the people of color any good, either. All it does is send them the message that they can burn each others' property down, every time they get pissed off about something.

I don't agree with his comments, I'm just saying they're not illegal/criminal. First amendment has to apply on both sides of the aisle

Despite the Cubs' success, all is not well in Chicago. The city has just seen its deadliest month in two decades. So far this year, Chicago's murders exceed those of the New York and Los Angeles combined.

No doubt the cause is racist white cops, and the solution is less police presence in crime-ridden neighborhoods.

In the latest step of an ongoing effort to heal the mistrust between Chicago law enforcement and city residents, the head of the police department formally moved to fire five officers involved in the fatal shooting of teenager Laquan McDonald in 2014.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson filed administrative charges against Officers Jason Van Dyke, Janet Mondragon, Daphne Sebastian, Ricardo Viramontes and Sgt. Stephen Franko on Tuesday.
Their cases will be heard by the Chicago Police Board, which will rule if the officers will be terminated.
The proceedings will begin September 19 with an initial status hearing.
A statement given to CNN by the department says the officers gave false statements during the investigation into McDonald's death.
A sixth officer the department included in the administrative charges has resigned, police said.
CNN attempted to reach the police union Tuesday evening but a spokesman was unavailable for comment.
Earlier this month the city's Office of the Inspector General recommended the termination of eight officers, but police disagreed with one of those, CPD said at the time.
The status of that officer is unclear.
Two other officers retired.

I haven't had time to dive into all the details. I heard the dash cam was off and the body camera wasn't working. If true...shocking....

Gut reaction to the videos: Bad cops doing a shit job handling what should have been a non-situation....lethally.....again....

This Tulsa incident is a strange situation. Reported abandoned vehicle, guy not responding to commands. Once he reached into vehicle, it wasn't going to end well.

It's aways weird to me that we seem to have less stringent "rules of engagement" for dealing with our own civilians than we do for dealing with potential enemy combatants. Maybe that's an overstatement but seems some cops way too quick to shoot on account of perceiving danger when maybe it's not there.

Police members here and ones I know IRL have stated they are told to do what they have to to get home safely.
That line of thinking has created an us vs. them mentality.
I get that the job is tough, difficult, and dangerous, but it always has been.
So what has changed in the last few decades?
Less cops living in the area they serve I'm sure is part of the problem, more cameras, less people willing to take the abuse because "Who's gonna believe me over a cop?".

Did you see the report of the CT police being caught on camera planning on how to trump up charges on a protestor?
Even with video the CTSP refuses to open an investigation into the officers because the person who was accused wouldn't speak to them without his lawyer present.

I think whats changed is social media allowing info and videos/ pictures to spread in an instant across country. I could be wrong but i think police shootings havent seen any major increase lately, you just hear about it and see it more on news/media due to people rioting and etc. Some of these are bad shootings, but i feel like alot of them that people have been getting upset about would not have been issues if people used common sense and followed directions of officers

Transparency is not a bad thing. Without video police who do these "bad shootings" would get away with murder. Sunlight is often the best disinfectant.

Social media and the media itself are ruining the world. The person that post the video or picture only wants you to see what they want you too. So if my wife is filming me and you getting ready to fight of course I am not going to show the part where I was talking out my ass and you keep walking away from me. That's not entertaining enough...

To be fair there is conflicting reports about whether the window was open or closed.

The police officer says he reached in (implying that it was open) but the picture in that link seems to show blood on the window which means that it was probably closed.

The criminal complaint against Shelby said her "fear resulted in her unreasonable actions which led her to shooting" Crutcher. She is accused of "unlawfully and unnecessarily" shooting Crutcher after he did not comply with her "lawful orders."

Failure to comply does not constitute an imminent threat. If it did, Calabrese would be dead.

"This is a small victory," Crutcher's twin sister Tiffany told reporters.
"The chain breaks here. We're going to break the chains of police brutality," she added. "We know the history."

Sorry, I don't see brutality here. As noted in the charge, "fear resulted in her unreasonable actions ..." His failure to comply raised up adrenlin but his position and hers don't constitute imminent threat. None of the other cops on the scene fired their weapons.


None of the videos showed whether the vehicle window was open or closed.
There was no weapon found in the car.

Open or closed is really moot. From her position at the rear of the car she had no line of sight on the window. Two other officers did have an angle on the window. She didn't.

Unlike the Baltimore D.A. this seems to be an appropriate charge from the info presented so far.

Originally, the charges stood. Fort Worth Police just announced that the charges against the mother and daughter have been dropped, and that the officer is suspended for 10 days without pay.

I think the dude needs to be charged with falsifying reports, as do his superiors for approving his original reports after seeing his bodycam footage.

The culture of police protecting themselves and each other when they fuck up is real.

I understand it; it's a brotherhood thing, and you want to stand up for and stand by your guys, even if they're in the wrong... but it's simply unacceptable.

"Well why don't you teach him not to litter?"

Can't imagine anyone should have heard that question first thing after calling the police, saying her son had been choked by a neighbor.

Within the whole situation, I see cops acting like they've been trained to falsify information in order to make frivolous arrests. I'm getting to have less and less respect for LEO's as time and situations go further into the wild. That wasn't 1! So the whole argument that 1 bad apple takes the others down Is frivolous!

They are acting as an army that remains above the law. Good thing dummy down Trump Is in office in order to falsify that reality too.

A second Gwinnett County police officer has been fired after a handcuffed man was stomped in the head while lying on a Georgia street.
On Wednesday around 4 p.m. ET, Master Police Officer Robert McDonald responded to assist a supervisor, Sgt. M.F. Bongiovanni, with a traffic stop at the intersection of Sugarloaf Parkway at Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road.
Cellphone video of the incident shows the driver, Demetrius Hollins, being pulled from the vehicle and stomped by McDonald as he arrived on the scene. McDonald was fired early Thursday.
Later Thursday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, another video emerged purportedly showing Bongiovanni punching Hollins in the head before McDonald arrived, even though Hollins had his hands up.
