Yes

Sent from my Galaxy Note4 using Tapatalk.

Then I believe that's just considered "training". You probably got EXP but if you didnt raise the prestige of the gym high enough for a new slot to be added.

Apparently muggers are hanging at something called "Pokestops" waiting for people to rob. Be aware of your surroundings while chasing these magical, mythical beasts gentlemen.

What's the deal on powering up vs evolving early?

I've read that you should power up first, and then evolve. I've also read the opposite, and that powering up a Pidgey is pointless, because it's going to have the same stats whether you power him up early or after he evolves into Pidgeotto/Pidgeot.

I've got my Pidgey nearly maxed out, but I'm too low of a level to get him that one last "Power Up." I planned on evolving him after that. Just wondering if I wasted a bunch of candy/stardust by trying to max him out as a Pidgey before evolving him.

I also wondered if hitting that maxed-out "Power Up" would force an evolve, but I won't find out until tomorrow once I hit level 9.

As I understand it you are better off powering up the lower level pokemon before you evolve it. The more the stage one pokemon is powered up the less you need to do at the next evolution. While both may need the same number of power ups to be maxed the power ups at the second and third stage cost more dust.

So say a Pidgey costs 400, 400, 400, 600, 600 to max. Then after Evolving you need an additional 1,000 and 1,200. That's a total of 4,600.

On the other hand if you don't power up the Pidgey at all before you evolve it you'll be looking at something like 800, 1,000, 1,000, 1,000, 1,200, for a total of 5,000 dust.

So you had less levels to cover going with option #2, but it ends up costing you more dust. The only advantage I can see for option #2 is that you aren't exactly sure what CP your pokemon will have after you evolve it. So you might waste a bunch of dust on a pokemon that ends up not being as powerful as you were expecting.

Yea but it's still free it's not like we invested anything other than time or emotions into it. It's nothing like Rome 2 total war, where I payed $60 and could barley play the first 2 months due to bugs/crashing issues. I mean that should be a fucking crime.

I was so pissed at that happening that I left Total War for Europa Universalis IV and never looked back. If Total War and Civilization were like crack to me back in the day, EU4 is like some super heroin they haven't even created yet.

Is EU4 just a bigger more expansive CK2?

In a sense. Honestly I tried CK2 but didn't like it, then I bought EU4 and after 15 hours of dicking around I became obsessed. It hits every history/geopolitics weakness in my brain with force.

I think CK2 was more about relationships between families and EU4 more about relationships between states. At least that's what I pick up from redditors.

So, that little arch-bar thing that represents how far your Pokemon has "Powered Up" and/or represents their Combat Points is what was throwing me for a loop. I kept powering up my Pidgey to try and make that bar fill up, thinking I would hit a cap or force an evolve... but last night, when I was one "Power Up" away from filling the bar, it told me my trainer level was too low.

So, I hit level 9 this morning, and checked back in on my Pidgey to hit that one last power-up and see what would happen, only to find that the bar was back to 3/4 full. It appears that there is NOT a cap at powering up your pokemon, at least not as a trainer at level 9... it just opens up more chances to "power up" pre-evolution as you gain more trainer levels.

So, I hit the evolution to Pidgeotto for shits and gigs, and boy does evolution add some combat points.

The only thing that bothers me is that my XL Pidgey turned into an XS Pidgeotto upon evolution. The same thing happened with my XL Zubat when I powered him up and then evolved him into an XS Golbat. Does that mean every XL pre-evolution is actually going to have stunted growth later on?

Wait does Pokemon size actually matter at all?

This fucking game. Has there ever been something this broken, poorly explained, and poorly executed that's gotten so much hype and adoption so quickly?

No joke, I went to three different parks yesterday and >50% of the people were playing Pokemon Go, including multiple vehicles of husbands and wives driving up to a PokeStop, getting their loot, and driving on to the next one.

I keep reading that it does/will at some point, but after my pokemon went from "XL" to "XS" upon evolution, I'm beginning to think that it's a meaningless and random crapshoot.

Seems like urban Pokémon Go is much more fun than this suburb shit you are dealing with.

I literally never have problems getting items as there are stops everywhere, including one I can access from my desk at work.

I also never have to drive anywhere. I just walk from work to my apartment and back and get plenty of Pokémon. I will eventually range out a bit and explore parks and such but the idea of driving to just get some Pokeballs would make me not want to play the game.

My bag is permanently full, to the point of me wondering if I can delete items to make room. My pokestop-to-use ratio is just heavily imbalanced towards frequency of hitting pokestops.

I hear suburban people complaining about having to drive to population centers or parks, and all I can think is Buster sitting in a room somewhere cackling about how it is karma for "white flight" and our over-zealous highway system.

Gyms are worse than Pokestops for me. There are a few stops on campus I can walk to but I'd absolutely need to drive from either home or work to get to a gym. They all seem to be churches around here, and I look like a creeper sitting in the parking lot of the Sikh temple at noon on a Tuesday.

Even if your bag is full. You still get the +50 of character XP.

My bag is definitely full. I have been deleting items so I don't miss out on a Module or Lucky Egg.

That's good to know.

How do you delete items?

And thanks above for heads up on not missing EXP.

Things I learned today:

1. You can throw a Curveball for extra XP, but it's an art that takes practice and some wasted Pokeballs (though it's easier if you turn off AR)

2. Incense is a bunch of bologna in terms "Attracting Pokemon to your location." It's much more likely that it makes more Pokemon appear as you move, but it does NOT bring them to you in a stationary spot, as the description says. I popped one while working with some cool peeps on a summer project, so they didn't care that I was catching Pokemon while we scanned and organized some stuff. But in that 30 mins, only two Pokemon found their way to my stationary location.

3. Lures are the tits. Someone dropped a Lure Module on the Pokestop that is one floor above my desk. I got a Psyduck, a Tentacruel, three Rattata, two Pidgey and a Spearow all in 30 mins while "at" the Pokestop.

This made me lol. Muggers see an area of dorky Pokemon players and it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

Yo Lion I am about to set up a module at Atrium 2 Fountain.

Ha if I had the freedom during the work day, I'd head down and take advantage.

Is that downtown, or down on the Banks in the park area?

I was at the Banks the other day, and there were like 10 Pokestops all in the area from there down to Smale Park, and they all had lures set up. It's prime hunting down there.
