Sad when I realize 4 out of the last 5 years my favorite recruit decommitted... although Tuitt eventually recommitted. Tuitt, Darby, Hood, Barnett.

I am holding out the slimmest of hopes UNC gets hammered by the NCAA and Hood gets an unimpeded transfer to ND.

What might've been.

Good thing. He is going to have to carry that team for the next four years.

So much sadness.

Haha same here. Super slim chance but man, it's hard not to hope. Elijah is gonna be a beast.

Glad we play them his freshmen year so hopefully he'll be off their roster by the time our next game against UNC comes around. Wish him nothing but the best.

Best player in Charlotte Catholic history. Good luck Elijah, except for one Saturday in South Bend!

I'm just as sad to see him out of this uniform as I am about him going to UNC. I get double the heartbreak.

This is why my favorites are always guys like Martini or Deeb. Solid freaking guys with some upside but have a low likelihood of decommitment. Makes recruiting much less painful.

He was my favorite of the last class too. I know some may disagree, but his tape was the best I have ever seen from a RB. Absolute stud!

Wasn't a reason he picked UNC over his girlfriend? Just dumb. I am not saying that just because I am a ND fan. You got a whole future instead of a girl.

Glad you don't have multiple favorites.

I thought it was because his dad wanted him to stay close to home. But if this was the case, then I really hate that we missed out on him. Had he made the choice simply to stay close to home, that's one thing. But don't make a decision this big based on a girl. Sure, UNC is a good school, but the football program has been and still is under fire from the NCAA. Really hope he doesn't regret his decision, but it's not looking good.

What I remember from Elijah Hood's decommitment was the following:

In July 2013, while on a visit to ND, something happened that he didn't like leading to his decommitment a few weeks later. (http://www.irishenvy.com/forums/201...rb-elijah-hood-unc-verbal-52.html#post1094129 as IrishLax explains)

However, it was widely reported and known that distance was always an issue, even when he was committed to ND... Add to the fact that his girlfriend had broken up with him after his commitment to ND (something I remember Elijah tweeting about), only for them to get back together after he committed to hometown UNC led to wide speculation that his girlfriend was a reason for his decommitment.

All I know now is that Elijah and T. J. Logan are going to be one of the best RB tandems in the near cfb future.... However, I'm not going to bicker because we've got Folston and Bryant who'll be pretty damn good in the own right, too.

Even if UNC took a hit from the NCAA, don't expect him to jump ship. He loves Carolina. Sadly.

Stop having favorites.

For real, Lax. This is clearly your fault.

I want to go on record, again, that although I think Hood would have done very well at ND, I don't think he is the shit. I expect him to have an average college career and a mediocre stay with 2-3 teams over 4-5 years in the NFL. Above average but not a program maker/changer.

Maybe not at ND, but he could play a major role in UNC's success over the next 4 years

No matter how good you are, you still need a good OL. Any idea how NC is on the OL?

No matter how good you are, being the best at sanctioned UNC is not as good as being the best at ND.

Gotta leave the nest at some point.

Well said, reps sir!

This is where we 100% agree!

Character maximized accepts the greatest challenges, without a complaint or a story.

Look at our offensive line recruits. These kids are walking into a crucible second to none in the nation at that position group. Since Harry has been here, how many kids have we lost? Not one. Not due to grades, not due to excuses. That is one reason I like offensive linemen so much.

Some of these other skilled position prima donnas need to take notes. Then they need to put their big boy pants on. Then they may be great.

Sad face. I'm with Lax on this being my favorite guy last year. Spurned or not, I wish the guy the best with the exception of one important afternoon.
