Kidding me? It's only the favorite of every hipster oriented bar.

We wouldn't touch that stuff with a ten foot pole back in my heyday, but my cousin who was about 10 years older bathed in that stuff.

I never knew there was a stigma drinking PBR until a year and a half ago. It was good enough for my grandpa, so I figured it was good enough for me. You can find it anywhere down here.

We've touched on this in the beer thread but this broke my heart when I found this out... I also have no clue how it happened... damned hipsters... PBR has been my 'broke and no other options left' beer of choice for pretty much my entire drinking life... I was totally beside myself when I was informed it's now the 'hipster beer'...

nah, it's the same in So Cal too....

Not my findings. Surprised how much 20-30 Somethings are into Cali Crafts in South OC and North Co. SD. I'm more likely to see youngsters drinking Stone, Lagunitas or Ballast Point over any of the common domestic light's from Big Beer, let alone any old school Midwest yesteryear labels.

The crafts are everywhere too... but it's extremely rare for me to find a bar/spot with any noticeable level of hipster clientele that doesn't have PBR on tap... important to note, 20-30 does =/= hipster.

Guys, it's hipster precisely because it's super cheap, and not that mainstream (read: not Bud, Miller, or the like). This doesn't make the beer bad or you bad for drinking it. Hell, you're not even called a hipster for drinking it. It is just incredibly popular among hipster bars.

I drink it occasionally. It's not bad for a cheap wheat-y beer. But my go to cheap-o is Natty Ice as has been documented in the beer thread.

Maybe we should get back to Trumbetti...

Nope, we should make fun of you for drinking Natty Ice.

Hipster <> super cheap imo. I'm guessing they drink it ironically (in their minds).....but most things hipster are artisanal, handmade, carbon-neutral, fair trade and quite expensive.

Feel free. It's my cheap-o beer, and I can get a case of 30 for $16 cold. And it's almost 6% ABV. It's not like it's the only thing I drink.

I think most "hipster" things are perceived as hipster because they are not mainstream...or at least they aren't until hipsters get their hands on them.

But it tastes like crap, ok that isn't fair to crap. My go-to cheap-o beer is Miller High Life. A 30 pack is $18 and while it has less alcohol (4.6%), it sure as heck tastes better.

To each his own, I can drink it like water. But I drink like a champion...today.

Where I went to college, they sold 12 packs of 40s of Old E for $20. It was beautiful.

I was telling some friends the other day how before many of our bars in what we call "The Village" went out of business due to bad ownership + Brothers coming to town there was a dollar pitcher night pretty much every night Monday-Thursday all within 2 blocks. Talk about a steal.

But I haven't drank a 40 in a long time. Malt Liquor is not usually my thing. haha

Someday Trumbetti will take pride in the fact that his thread doubled as the cheap beer thread. When I was in college we could buy a case of Knickerbocker beer for $4 a case of 12 oz cans.

My college days it was a $4 case of Red White and Blue (Pabst Brewing Co.)

I have grown up drinking Busch Light so I actually don't mind PBR. It makes my breath smell terrible though so I only drink it with the Boys.

1- you don't exactly drink PBR on a date anyway.... So you're good there
2- I doubt it's the beer to begin with.... ;)

Now you're talking. We consumed mass quantities of that many moons ago. Even though I hardly drink beer anymore, still one of my favorites along with a lot of dark beers.

Yeah, but at least Savages has good food.

True, but the Chug still has dollar pitchers on Wednesdays. Plus, Muncie is the only place I have ever seen $3 fifths of Stoli Vodka, or really any liquor.
