I know he's high on PSU I just can't see a player wanting to go to PSU right now when you can go virtually anywhere you want.

All of these guys disagree with you: Penn State 2013 Football Commits
These guys too: Penn State 2014 Football Commits
There's not one guy on there with the offer list of Holley that chose PSU after all hell broke loose and there's not a doubt in my mind that Hack, Breneman & Sickels would have chosen other schools instead of PSU if they hadn't already been committed to Penn State and wanted to stick with their commitment. Those three chose to stick together and I commend them for that.
Holley would by far be their biggest get since the Sandusky scandal

Didn't realize we were going to debate semantics and "no doubt" situations. I feel unprepared. I thought I presented facts when kuehnja said what he said but I guess I was in the wrong.
Thread on PSU 247 board that says Holley is close to a making a decision.
What's their source?
I could definitely see Holley picking PSU. Larry Johnson (DL coach) is one of the best in the business and Happy Valley is a special place. Plus, for the '14 recruits, the sanctions end after their sophomore year and they get a chance to play in Ireland, not that that is a huge draw, but it helps balance the fact they can't play in a bowl game. Also, I don't think PSU could have picked a better successor to Paterno than Bill O'Brien.
I am not a PSU hater, but I wonder if we can really call it a special place at this point--as if it continued on in a straight line with its tradition. My guess is that the culture is very different than it was pre-scandal.
Still don't know why penn state is playing in Ireland in 2014
Because they aren't allowed to play in bowl games so Bill O'Brien wanted to create an opportunity for his players, you know, the guys who were punished for other's mistakes and chose to stick with the school/program, to experience a bowl game like atmosphere. I think the move is brilliant.
But why Ireland?
PSU is still a special place. Did its reputation get tarnished? Sure. Before the scandal happened it was a tight knit community, and after its probably closer. They love their football in Happy Valley, and last seasons support was clear that their fanbase is behind the young men 100%. Its something you dont find at some of the big time schools and its appealing to kids. I mean they are still going to get to play the a great schedule infront of 110,000. Penn St is still going to get 4stars and I wouldnt be surprised to see a 5 star go there in the future. The kid can literally write a hell of a legacy for himself there. They have a great staff and will get their top talent to the league. I dont think you will see them compete for first place in the big ten but if they did finish first it wouldnt surprise me in the least. Kids that go there are going to be hard working, dedicated, and are going to give 200% everytime they play. Thats one of the pluses for the staff, is they know that each player that comes is there to work.

Nobody's arguing PSU isn't a special place, but when you're not going to play for a bowl until you're a senior, that's a real buzz kill. There's are a lot of places with great tradition where you have no sanctions.
Ugg....Sickels...wanted him to be Irish so bad. If I grew up indifferent (AKA, no childhood favorite), I'd have a really hard time not playing for a bowl for 3 years.
Edit: For Holley it'd only be two years, right?
Buzz kill to you, to another they may see it in a different light. Thats the amazing thing about the human race, people have different view points on what they want in life.
You're right, maybe he'll pick Houston.
But why Ireland?
The upside for a lot of these Penn State recruits in this class is the fact that many won't see the field they're upperclassmen, so they wouldn't be playing in a bowl anyway most likely. Holley could start sooner, but you know theres going to be a lot of hype for a Penn State team that plays in their first bowl game or two after a 4 year ban. Media will be all over that.
