Maybe Palmer believes they will cover up the receivers & spy Book in hopes of frustrating him into forcing passes. He has to acknowledge that Foster will send some inside blitzes. The whole stadium knows that’s coming on a first year starting qB.
Without consistent pressure, Book isn't going to force passes. He'll have all day to go through his progressions. Even with 8 in coverage, VT isn't going to be able to cover ND's receivers for that long. ND also has the capability to dump it to a RB or TE if need be. That hasn't really been an option for any team VT has played up to this point.
FSU's offensive line was a matador convention, so Francois had no time to make proper reads or go through progressions.
W&M sucks.
Duke had no run game and a QB playing with a plate in his clavicle, with no running option or legit TE to throw to as a contingency.
ND's greatest weapon the last 2 weeks has been it's versatility. It doesn't matter what you try, ND has an out to it.
If this is the plan, good luck. ND will methodically make it's way down field all night.
