If TJ Jr. can give us 5 I think we will be in ok shape. That allows up to 20 for Dex, and 5-10 more for Book, Davis, and a frosh. Manageable at least, even if not ideal.

I would love it if TJJr could just rest and get healed. Sure if we need him, but if we're playing well, let him get 100. Going to need him big time down the stretch. I'm more afraid of his injury lingering if he plays.

I keep worrying about our run game with TJ Jr hobbled, Armstrong out and Dex likely limited to 15 carries. I completely forgot about Avery Davis. While he may not be a true RB, I think we can use him on some designed sweeps.

And of course, we can always use a fr RB if needed.

Isn't he supposed to play?

I agree, if he's good to go, still limit him. But hey, 5 snaps might be big. Cant rule him out at least, unless he just can't.

Not sure where I heard or read it, but the assumption was he should be ready. It wasn't as severe as originally thought.

BK said that early this week.
I'm skiddish though about ankle injuries. Had my fair share, and they can get worse, and can linger even if not severe.

Why do you think Dex is limited to 15. I think we see Smith and maybe CBo along with AD. But I think Dex gets 20 or more again.

I think the coaching staff always has an eye on the health of their players and Dex has shown a propensity to wear down. He's a Ferrari, a burner for certain but needs continual upkeep.

I'm sure the coaches will feel it out as the game progresses but I would guess the ideal game plan would limit Dex to 15 carries. Could be wrong, maybe they'll feed him a bunch because he has fresh legs?

I'm hoping our other RBs can take 5 carries each. That would give us 30 carries by RBs (if we give Smith, TJ Jr and Davis a similar workload). That should be enough to keep us balanced. Throw in a couple QB runs and we'll have plenty of opportunities on the ground game.

Now let's hope our defense is staying hungry. It's another primetime game to make a statement. The Va Tech talking heads are predicting an upset, I want our defense to force multiple TOs.

i'd love to see CBo get a shot as well.

just saw the ESPN commercial for the game. got chills. our D needs to play pissed. i think JT has another big game. i'm going to say we get 4 turnovers. they have not seen a decent D yet this year.

4 is a LOT of TOs. Would be hard to lose the game if we got that many.

Then again, in Willis' two years at Kansas, he showed a propensity for INTs..... 11 TDs/17 INTs . He is 4 / 0 this year. Bringing his career to 15/17

Saturday we will have what's best in life, we will crush the Hokies, see them driven from the field, and hear the lamentation of their fan-base.

Miami was just one of those strange games that happen... I don't think it was as much game plan or match-up as it was just one of those tidal wave games where you blink and it's over... they happen every now and then.

From a competitive perspective, I think you cherish the opportunity to play in an environment like that and appreciate it when you can get it. The results at Miami were terrible last year, but no way they would have repeated those results. We went into that game thinking we were the shit, and it backfired on us in our preparation and execution.

BK is pumping in crowd noise and "ETS" during practice this week. The players should be accustomed to it when they get to Blacksburg.

Lol. Thats like expecting someone to complete a NASCAR race after playing Pole Position on Atari for a week.

Heard them talking on the II podcast that the defense has been more successful w/ sending 4 vs 5 or 6. If ND can maintain a pass rush w/ 4, VT will be in for a long night. If not, I’d say the nickel position is the Achilles Heel.

I can't wait for the atmosphere.

It's going to be an amazing scene to watch after their collective hearts are broken by half and the stadium thins out, leaving a sprinkling of green fans left.

Overheard as Duke assistant coaches took elevator down from press box: “Guys, they stopped the run with a three-man front.” #Hokies

Took a look into this Metallica thing.... They play in Texas but they are playing at 11am whatever time zone Texas is in so it's conceivable that they could be flying in and doing it live...

Texas is in Central Time Zone. I assumed Blacksburg, VA is in Eastern Time Zone.

Chris Fowler in the comments of that same tweet debunked the Metallica idea. Said it's not THAT big of a wrinkle.

Also, Metallica at 11?? that's weird right? aren't concerts usually a night thing?

Biblical, New Testament.

I went to Catholic school and thus was not a Bible reader BUT I had Italian Nuns in grade school and Irish Christian Brothers in high school.

'Gnashing of teeth' is when one grinds one's teeth together. Or to have one's teeth set on edge, or to bite down in pain, anguish, or anger.

Watching VT Duke. Duke has had two touchdown passes slightly overthrown/drropped in the first quarter. Between this and Old Dominion I think the defense will be very susceptible to getting its top taken off. If I had a guarantee that Boykin would play like he did against Stanford I'd be feeling really confident.
